Booked for 10 days but found out on arrival that there is no restaurant service apart from breakfast. This is not apparent from the web site and nearest restaurants are 3.5 km away. We booked a junior suite, but these are in the oldest chalet in the complex and very tired. On arrival the chalet was freezing, with all thermostats set at 15 deg. C. We reset that ourselves and it was ok after after 3, 4 hours. Kitchen area is tiny, with a small electric 2 plate stove, one of which didn’t work (but replaced right away by maintenance man, who was just as friendly and helpful as the other staff). Pipe in toilet was leaking, again sorted without delay. View from chalet is beautiful, if slightly marred by some random bits of wood/panelling in front of the patio. Breakfast was very good, with ample choice. Beds comfortable, but window blind was defective and let in a lot of light from outside.

Buffet breakfast was excellent and the lady of the breakfast restaurant was very friendly and helpful. The challet we had was old but clean and cosy. Service was ok, the receptionists were not at all interested in us, hardly polite, tired I quess. Great surroundings for hiking around Ounasvaara mountain, wonderful paths in the forest.

We stayed there one night. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Cabin was quite basic, but a bit old. Location was good (easy to find, calm area, good possibilities for outdoor activities e.g. biking, walking, skiing). There was also possibility to swim in the river. Good choice for a couple of nights. It was possible to park our car just next to the cabin.

Stayed here in March 2023 as a couple. About 10-15 minutes by Cab from the Rovaniemi Airport and 10 minutes to the City Centre. We reached towards late evening. We had opted for their Standard Chalet (4 people) with Sauna which was allotted behind the reception area and we were able to get there by a 5 min walk through the beautiful snow which we thoroughly enjoyed, even though we need to drag our large bags. A nice, clean, large, well maintained Chalet with a decent sized Bathroom and Sauna room, comfortable beds and sufficient toiletries (toilet paper, towels, napkins and shampoo, body wash and other amenities). We were told that there was no daily housekeeping/replenishment although we were there for 3N which is something that definitely can be considered and improved. We never saw the Northern Lights since it was cloudy and snowing but thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt we were living in a forest with a frozen lake. Since it was winter in Rovaniemi, we definitely needed the heater which had just super great heating. Buffet Breakfast was absolutely amazing, with a large spread and great taste. They would open out another section of the restaurant when it got crowded. Overall, an excellent stay experience and would definitely recommend staying here as this hotel was just perfect, location was amazing, great rooms/chalets and bathrooms, excellent breakfast and totally value for money! Thank you Lapland Hotels Ounasvaara Chalets for the wonderful hospitality and we would definitely stay here again!

Worked well for us! My partner and I shared a chalet with my mom. One thing I couldn't tell before booking, yes there are doors on both bedrooms. The building is a twin (attached on one side) but we didn't have any issues with sound through the walls. The stairs to the second floor bedroom are steep, so my mom stayed on the first floor. We loved having our own sauna in the bathroom! We didn't use the kitchen, so can't say anything about that. We enjoyed our stay.

This was an enjoyable stay – 3 of us in a private chalet for a few days. The resort is a bunch of chalets, divided by a road, located between the bottom of ski slopes and the frozen river. We chose this for the private chalet with private sauna. The chalet was good. Ours was attached to a neighbouring chalet. Steep steps to a second bedroom. Basic kitchen with adequate utensils and we did cook a meal there. Included breakfast was a very varied and well-stocked buffet at the main restaurant building. When it got busy it was like feeding time at the huskey farm, noisy and busy. If you time it right it was more pleasant. The breakfast entertainment was the ONE waffle maker that everyone seemed to want to use.. waiting for the waffles to cook.. and the chaos when people did not spray enough grease on and everything stuck, caused long bottlenecks. Dinner: there is a Euro41 per head buffet that we decided we were just not hungry enough for. There is an “a la carte” dining option for smaller appetites where service was either great or terrible: our first day meal was excellent, attentive staff, helpful, free amuse-bouche starter. Great burger. The next day.. tumbleweeds.. it was like all the staff were on strike. We had to actively go get our own menus, look around for staff to try order… at the end similarly had to walk round and collar a member staff to pay and go. There are no other restaurants within walking distance in the winter, so your options are (and we did all 3): eat at the captive-audience restaurant; or go shopping at the shop at other end of the bridge and cook something yourself, or online order takeaway delivery food. This location is great for the ski slopes, great for just walking about near the ski slopes. You can go down to the river to try escape the glaring light pollution of the ski slopes behind you. It was from here that we saw the norther lights one night, then Light Pillars phenomenon on another night. All in all we had a great time!

Everything is in the title, the accommodations are OK, the food is almost the same everyday (potatoes and salmon variations) but the worst is coming from the hosts unfriendly. it seems that every question we ask them is a pain

This is my second time at staying in these chalets and I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. I found the price reasonable there was 7 of us as a family who went and we got cottage number 71 which looks over the lake. Perfect chalet with everything you need in there. Excellent views from the balcony and windows. The northern lights are even visible at the back on a clear night. The reception has sledges that you could use and you can use the ski resort if you wish to but obviously you have to pay. We had breakfast included in our stay I found it had a selection of choices something everyone it had your normal hot breakfast sausage, bacon , scrambled eggs and beans with toast and then it had a selection of cereal, fruit and yogurts and also a selection of pastries and cheese and meats. As for lunch and dinner we did not eat on the on-site restaurant as the food was very expensive and not much choice unless you like to eat reindeer. So we got McDonald’s delivered to our chalet by using the McDonald’s delivery app on the phone. About a 15 minute walk is a super market you can buy whatever you need a tip is if you go in the show take one of your sledges and then pull the shopping bags back on the sledge it’s a lot easier. We got a taxi from Rovanami airport to the chalet it cost 40 euro. And then Santa Claus village is about 10 minute drive we got a taxi to that cost us 35 euro and if you want to try Rovanami shopping centre that again cost about 30euro in a taxi. Just ring reception from your chalet and ask them to order you a taxi if you need one. Rovanami centre has a variety of restaurants and fast food places that you can eat. Overall I would stay here again I just wish they would have more of a choice of food on the on site restaurant but the staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here with TUI as part of a four night trip to Lapland as a family of 4. TUI call the hotel Christmas cottages. The hotel is lovely looking out over the ski slopes. Our chalet was perfect, just behind the restaurant area so was conveniently located. The chalet had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The sauna is a great addition to dry your ski wear etc. The steps up to the loft area are steep but our children managed ok. The beds were comfy but only one pillow. Breakfast was a great selection of cold and hot food and was really tasty especially the scrambled egg. We were on a bed and breakfast basis but we did pay for an evening meal one night which again was really nice. We also had our Christmas gala meal one evening and the food was lovely. We didn't eat at the bar area but others did and their food looked good. Drinks were very expensive but similar pricing everywhere we went. Approx €30 - €50 for a bottle of wine! €9 for a cider. €5 for a coke. We got taxis everywhere and used the Taxsini app. Taxi's were approx €25 to get to the city centre and main attractions from here. The location is great and the kids had hours of fun sledging by the slopes. We would recommend staying here as we had a great time.
