Simply beautiful hotel and professional service right at the soaps - I love Finland and their tranquil and easy way of living! Breakfast was big and delicious, a variety of local products were offered, and a good quality espresso or pure Finnish coffee was hot. Gluten-free bread was available, as well as the oat milk, fresh juices, and local treats. We had a delicious dinner with friends at the hotel's restaurant. We opted for a 5 course meal, it was perfect! Tomislav was our waiter, and his expertise in vines and drinks was excellent. We had a wonderful time!
Booked through Booking.com. Stayed in Lapland suite. Spacious 2-bedroom unit, clean, and strong wifi. Very nice sauna and confortable bedding. HOWEVER, the hotel overbooked in peak season and notified us, one week before arrival, to relocate for 3 out of our 4-night stay, and it was non-negotiable to keep our full stay despite booking 3 months in advance and paying €800 upfront (for pay at property booking). The hotel offered alternative stay at a downgraded / less luxurious sister hotel for the lost 3 nights, and an upgraded room for the 4th night. Neither hotel nor Booking.com were willing to pay a difference in cost to have a similar luxury (hotel) stay for lost nights because there were only more expensive 'similar stays' left one week before arrival. It will be difficult for me to trust the Lapland Sky Hotel or Booking.com booking confirmations after this experience. …
We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend and it was perfect! We stayed in the Mystique De Luxe with Sauna which was so lovely. The views from our room were amazing! I would definitely recommend. It was my partners birthday while we were away so I paid for some champagne and the Finnish tasting platter which was waiting in our room when we arrived. We had breakfast included with the room and there were lots of options for food. I am gluten and lactose intolerant and found lots of options. We also had two dinners at the restaurant. First we had the 5 course set menu which was lovely! We then had the buffet dinner on our last evening and this was great - lots of options and all very good! The location is perfect. You can walk into the city and there are lots of nice walking trails nearby. I booked a few excursions with Lapland Safaris via the hotel website and they picked up up from the hotel lobby. All excursions were great!! Only minor issue was that there were two single duvet covers on the double bed but this didn’t really matter. We had an amazing trip and I would highly recommend this room and hotel. …
Such a wonderful hotel, the rooms were warm and cosy with the perfect view of the snow outdoors. The beds were so comfy especially after having a sore back after snowmobiling. The restaurant tasting menu was lovely, the service was a little slow but they were busy and it allowed us to have gaps between the tasting menu courses. The staff were always pleasant. Reception would arrange a taxi as needed to go to the town etc. there is a winter walking trail from the hotel which is lovely and picturesque and easily signposted. We walked the loop from the hotel (4km) once afternoon and it was so peaceful. We loved every moment of our stay in this hotel.
This hotel is truely wonderful. The rooms are cosy and warm and the beds are very comfortable. The re are amazing views of the snowed under forest. The chair lift is just at the back, if one wants to ski down the slopes. The staff is incredibly friendly. We loved our stay.
How this hotel is only a 3* I do not know. It is simply stunning. We have just returned from a 4 night stay as a family of 6 and really couldn’t fault it. Yes the rooms are more on the small side but with the snow outside you aren’t really spending that much time in the room and we squeezed 4 of us in a twin and made do. Only issue I had was how to work the lights! The food was lovely- there was little choice but what they did have they did well and none of us went hungry and all found something we enjoyed eating. The staff are so helpful, even more so than the tui rep- if you get a chance ask for the map to the highest point it’s a 500m walk through the woods and well worth it for the views. We only knew about this through talking to the hotel Staff. If you are looking for a nice, cosy hotel in beautiful setting this one is for you. If you are expecting evening entertainment maybe try somewhere else but we didn’t need it after a full day in the snow the kids were knackered and happy watching YouTube in the room before bed. The town is a bit of a way and a taxi will set you back about 35euros but we expected this when we booked and happy to spend to get around. There is a ski slope on sight and if you mention you are from the hotel you can ride the ski lift which is also well worth it for the views. A magical holiday.…
Visited here for a weekend with kids and we were impressed how well they managed to renovate Hotel Ounasvaara. Rooms are well designed to reach elements of Lapland and nature starts directly behind the windows. Breakfast offers beautiful sights over Ounasvaara and Kemijoki-area (over river) and breakfast includes different components of tradition Lapland tastes (for exaple cloudberries now and then). Hiketrails are near and there is also winter-trail to walk. Feeling that you're in the middle of Lapland but still you have only 2km to city :)
We came here for our first night in Finland before we headed further north to Levi! Our only regret from this trip was that we didn’t spend longer here. The hotel is set in an incredible woodland which was covered in snow. It looked like something from a film! The hotel interior was very modern with a cozy feel. The view from the down stairs sitting area was incredible. The hotel staff were all very helpful and we felt that they couldn’t do enough for us. The room itself was amazing. We had a junior suit which was very spacey and decorated amazingly - see the pictures. We had a sauna in our room also, although we didn’t have time to use it. The view from the room was of the winter forest which surrounded us. The breakfast, which was included in our booking, was also amazing. I was able to try a typical Finnish delicacy, smoked reindeer omelette. Luckily, we were back in Rovaniemi for our final night of our trip, before our flight so we managed to get dinner in he hotel. Amazing food in an amazing restaurant. Both myself and my wife can’t talk highly enough of this hotel and we are already planning our next visit!…
Nice location with beautiful view. Convenient for access to skiing slopes but overall… overrated hotel. Staff is polite but not friendly. Rooms are extremely small ! No lift and no valet service to help with luggage. No transportation to the city… restaurant was ok but excessively pretentious. Bar had very limited food option during the day (basically only fried chicken and fries…). Way too expressive for the service provided… avoid !
I visited Forest Heights with my son in December which we booked with TUI. We had a fantastic holiday and the hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The location is perfect, the views from the bar and restaurant areas are lovely - it has a really relaxing feel. The staff in the hotel are helpful and friendly and the food was lovely. I highly recommend this hotel, we are hoping to be back again next year.
