We stayed here as a family of 3, booked via TUI (hotel shown as Forest Heights) and it was truly amazing.
On arrival (of which I am glad TUI amended our original flights to a later time due to the strict check in times at the hotel), the hotel looked amazing. Slightly concerning that we had 3 flights of stairs to walk up with suitcases and our snow-gear, but the steps had been gritted so felt relatively safe under foot. The reception was smaller than I imagined, but still looked beautiful and very welcoming. The room itself was lovely - albeit felt as if an additional bed had been 'squeezed' in. Be warned - there is zero storage in the rooms, so you will be living out of your suitcase for the entire time you are there! Once we had worked out how to tweak the heating in the room, it was really cosy. The front reception / bar area could have been warmer if the main entrance doors had been segregated a bit more. Even with the fire going (which the staff didn't build very big to make it last very long), it was extremely cold when the doors opened, so it wasn't the best place to sit for a long period and the doors continually opening and closing letting in all the cold air.
The food in the hotel was really good. Plenty of choice to suit all tastes and a good mixture of local dishes. We did find some dishes were cold when we ate them - even though we anticipated them to be hot / warm at best. As we were there for Christmas, we were there for the 'Festive Feast'. Again - we found this to be really good. Drinks are expensive (alcohol especially).
The surrounding area is simply beautiful and it is possible for you to walk to a local shop / mini supermarket which is apparently around 15 mins walk down a steep hill. Suggestion to the hotel - would it be nice for the hotel to supply a map of the local area to highlight any walks which people may want to go on to explore and also for any other local amenities? This could be part of a 'Welcome Pack'?
As we had booked a package with TUI, we had a number of excursions booked to Winter Wonderland to do husky rides, reindeer rides as well as a visit to Father Christmas (on Christmas Eve) and also an Elf Adventure Day on Christmas Day. The whole thing was incredibly well run and organised, and the TUI rep was exceptional and you could clearly see absolutely loved being in that location.
The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel manager also would bring in his dog of which my daughter absolutely adored and the dog seemed to enjoy interacting with all the guests.
Overall - the entire 4 days we were there were amazing, even if the temperature did drop to -20 degrees! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone - especially if you want to visit Lapland at Christmas!

Here’s a more professional revision of your review, divided into two paragraphs for clarity:

Upon arrival, we checked in with a booking for a twin room, a single room, and a premium room. While the twin room was fine, there was an issue with the single room as it was not the correct one. We had to return to the front desk, where, after some back-and-forth with an employee (a Colombian lady), we were finally assigned the correct room. Unfortunately, this process required hauling our luggage around the hotel, which was inconvenient. Additionally, we encountered repeated issues with the key cards. My key card needed renewal once, the single room’s card failed four times, and the premium room’s card failed once. This caused frustration, particularly after long days when all we wanted was to relax. On one occasion, we had to rely on a room service staff member to help us access our room after multiple failed attempts at obtaining a new key card from the front desk.

Despite these inconveniences, the rooms were very clean, and the majority of the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The indoor restaurant was excellent, offering carefully prepared cuisine that was both delicious and of high quality. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its service and dining experience, though improvements to key card functionality and front desk communication are needed.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous the rooms are so elegantly furnished and very Scandinavian styled which i find very comforting and relaxing and high spec. The beds are really comfortable and provided a really good nights sleep. The views in December at this hotel with the snow topped trees, speechless i honestly had to ask myself am i really seeing this and it didn't quite sink in that I was admiring this beautiful area in person its something i will cherish forever. We found that all the hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and always happy to help with anything and always greeting you with a smile. The food at sky ounasvaara was very tasty and we enjoyed the selection of food on offer whilst admiring the views of the snowy forrest which was beautiful. There is a viewing terrace on the hotel roof for looking over to Rovaniemi and also searching for the Northern lights which provided some stunning scenery. The hotel is very private so be prepared to have a long walk to Rovaniemi center or pay for expensive taxi journeys unless you hire a car. We spent quite a lot on taxis whilst here I think it was between €30-€40 to get to Santa Claus village from the hotel however it was so worth it. This hotel is fantastic a real gem and I definitely recommend staying here.

Second time in as many years! The hotel is one of the better options and is still presented well.

Sadly for us, it rained for 10 minutes on the first night then the temperature dropped so all the snow turned to ice, which made getting around interesting….. Even the seasoned local drivers were struggling! No one’s fault but it did make us think the town has a limited plan B when a lot of the excursions had to be cancelled! Anyway, we filled the gaps by renting ski equipment as they have snow machines which was a great day!

Back to the hotel, they’ve taken on board feedback and enhanced the food choice for children, which was nice to see! The soups were outstanding (onion, mushroom and a vegetable variant). The food on the whole was great! One issue though, still no ice cream 🤷🏽‍♂️.

We did have an issue on a lunch order which couldn’t get resolved so I just walked away in the end…. We ordered meals which all had a side of chips which were inedible as there was way too much salt. I fed this back and they said they’d replace them, but nothing arrived. Then when we finished the rest of the food I asked for a refund for the chips but just 6 euro was given…. They said the other portions were free which I didn’t really understand but decided to chalk it off to experience.

Being part of Tui you are made to feel second class (have to vacate the restaurant by 19:30 and they won’t offer table tabs for drinks as examples) but we knew what to expect.

The daily lift pass down to the town is great and we were allowed to check in early this year 👍👍👍 (as we have our own kit we got an Uber from the airport to avoid the hour(s) wait at the clothing depot).

The Lapland Ousarvarna Hotel is a true gem located high up on a mountain. The stunning location offers fantastic views, especially at breakfast, which is both beautifully prepared and extremely delicious.

We, a family with two adults and two children, spent seven unforgettable days here. From the beginning we felt very comfortable. The staff was always friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Of particular note are the roof terrace, which invites you to relax and enjoy the view, and the exciting summer toboggan run, which is a highlight for both children and adults.

All in all, our stay at Lapland Ousarvarna Hotel was a wonderful experience. We like to come back and recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend an unforgettable time in beautiful surroundings.

We booked on booking.com, but when we arrived to check in we were told our room had been double booked and we were being downgraded. We had originally booked the room with private sauna, so were very disappointed that we did not have this facility, particularly as the communal sauna is only open for around 3 hours per day and we had an activity booked the same time so could not use it at all.

The location is stunning and we had fun walking the various trails from the hotel. We had two activities booked which both collected from the hotel, but otherwise we had to get taxis to and from the town centre as there is no public transport to the hotel. Taxis cost around €20 each way, and reception can book them for you.

Room was nice, but the light switches were quite difficult to use. We were also a bit cold and could not see a way to up the temperature. The bath was lovely, and came with bubble bath, robes and slippers which we made use of. Our view was of a car park, so that was not great.

Breakfast was amazing, lovely views and they even had honey on the comb.

You have to book the restaurant in advance, or make alternative plans (but keep in mind there are not really any other options around the hotel).

Staff were friendly.

We stayed for 4 nights in the Mystic Deluxe Room with a private sauna and I can absolutey recommend it. We were amazed when we entered the room: very cozy and warm, with comfortable beds and a wonderful view.
Unfortunately, our flight was delayed by 1 day, but the staff was very helpful when we called to postpone our arrival date. They were very friendly all the time, called us taxis when needed and even provided a breakfast bag on the day we left before the breakfast started.
The breakfast was delicious: there was a very rich buffet with regional specialities, different kinds of eggs, muesli, porridge and much more. It was a delight.

One night, we had dinner there and enjoyed their gourmet 3-course-menu. The food was heaven. I can absolutely recommend it.

Also, the location was great. We could see the stars on the rooftop terrace (probably you could even see northern lights on clear days) and we did some nice hiking in the forest around the hotel. The hiking paths were very good.

Booking a room in this hotel was a very good decision for us and even though you have to take a taxi into town, it was absolutely worth it.

When booking with TUI this hotel is called Forest Heights
I went here for a 3 night trip with my little girl last Christmas, we arrived Christmas eve and left the day after boxing day.
The hotel reception is beautiful however not exactley as pictured. The whole reason i booked this hotel was for the fire and the ambiance which was not in use at all during our entire stay. There was very little Christmas atmosphere at all.
If you have reduced mobility this is not the right hotel for you. The coach drops off at the bottom of 2 flights of snow covered slippy stairs, i was disappointed that there was no assistance from hotel staff at this point for any of the guests. I went as a single parent with 2 large cases, 2 hand luggage and then a sack full of snow gear that tui provided. I am aware that we had a lot of luggage but i had a 5 year old in tow who expected santa to bring her presents on Christmas day. Once inside we had to hang around to check in for about an hour or so. I was given a room on the first floor, there are no lifts so i had to do multiple trips to cart all the luggage again whilst trying to keep an eye on my excited child, again dissapointing that assistance wasnt offered.
The room was lovely, beautiful decor and we both slept really well in the bed, the view wasnt the best of the car port area but we could see the trees in the back ground so that didnt bother me too much.
The hot chocolate at the hotel is delicious if i remember correctly its around 7 Euro. Alcohol is expensive, a glass of wine and a bottle of water came to 21.30
The food was nice too in the restraunt and the views in there are out of this world.
The area out back to play in the snow is lovely.
The hotel is nice dont get me wrong, i wouldnt say its luxuary like i had imagined it. I think they could do more to make it feel christmassy for thier guests if it werent for the tui reps it wouldnt have felt like christmas at all just a beautiful snowy place.

Our experience here was good! Front desk was helpful, in room sauna was devine. Its in the bathroom and takes time to warm up, but once it's going its really warm.

Having the restaurant inside the hotel was SO helpful, but definitely make a reservation in advance.

The room was quite small, and there is no elevator in the hotel so we had to carry our bags up one (large ish) staircase. There were no bellman or staff to help with this.

Over the holidays (between xmas and nye), the prices were outrageous compared to other times of year, and I don't think that was worthwhile.

Everything else about the hotel was not remarkable. It seems like the benefit of staying here is if you are planning to ski (there is great access to a mountain) and we didnt ski, so we likely should have picked a different hotel.

The whole trip from start to finish was 10/10. The elves at the airport singing and dancing, the tui flight with the staff dressed up singing Christmas songs, Christmas breakfast on board, games for the children, Christmas pack just wonderful. The hotel itself is stunning, the decor is beautiful, homely and cosy. The room was large with a sauna which was a bonus for drying gloves and warming up The surroundings is outstanding, surrounded by forest and a ski slope with a beautiful view. The food is the best food we’ve ever had abroad, it is quality over quantity, service is wonderful and the panoramic views of the forest is sublime. Our only critique is we are vegetarian and the options for this were limited. The itinerary put on by tui was exceptional, well organised and well executed. As a family (ages ranging from 37-9 years) we have rated it our best holiday to date. You will
Not be disappointed.

Hi, walking there is safe - it is sure. Winter nature trail can be slippery so proper wintershoes are necessary. Shops are located only in centre so walking there takes approx 45min (3km or so).
