Kiki was so welcoming. The studio we stay in was a central, perfect location. The unit was immaculate and very comfortable. A very good range of products in the kitchen and the bed was comfortable. Will definitely stay there again :)
The place is perfect for a couple or a family. It is a ten minutes walk of the center of Rovaniemi. It has a big bathroom and sauna (included in price). It is a incredible silence inside, so you can disconnect yourself of the world if you want (however It counts with a very good Wi-Fi). Moreover, the hosts are very helpful and nice people.
Kiki was a great communicator before and during our stay. She was easy to be in touch with via email and answered all questions. We stayed two nights in the apartment in Rovaniemi. It is a beautiful, clean and stylish one-bedroom with a private sauna, a full bathroom, patio, kitchen and living room. We arrived a few hours before check-in and Kiki was kind enough to let us drop off our bags prior to check-in time. Once we checked-in, we found loads of information waiting for us: maps, recommendations re: activities and local museums, wifi code, brochures for local excursion companies, magazines about Rovaniemi. She thought of everything! While small and dozy, this apt is big enough to accommodate 1-3 people. It is within close range to the city center (about a 10 min walk), the supermarket and the bus stop that takes you to Santa Claus Village. We loved our stay in this beautiful apt. If I ever return to Rovaniemi, I will certainly contact Kiki!…
We stayed at the B&B cottage next to the owners house. The cottage is small and cosy, with everything you need - we especially liked the sauna. The cottage is in a great location, a short walk into the centre, the Artikum museum and the river. The owners live across the garden and were friendly and welcoming. We loved our stay here.
We were booked to stay at this B&B but when we arrived we were advised that the hot water wasn't working so she would offer an alternative place to stay. This turned out to be the studio apartment downtown and she drove us down there. This actually turned out to be better for us than the Pirttitie property as this place is a bit out of town and the roads were too icy to easily walk into town (and we did not have a car). We went there by bus but got dropped off at the wrong place so had to walk along the icy streets a way, so best to get a taxi there if you don't have a car. The Studio was in a very convenient location in a local apartment block. It doesn't look much from the outside but it is very nicely decorated inside and has everything you may need. A fully equipped modern kitchen, even with some basic provisions, a bathroom with shower (it just didn't have a sauna like the other place), a bed/sitting room, big TV, wi-fi, plenty of storage, a balcony and a small lift to get access up the stairs. Even though it was right in town it was very quiet. Nearby, there is a big modern shopping centre just across the road and down a bit and a taxi rank next to McDonalds virtually next door. The lady who runs this business (Kikki) was very helpful and friendly and carefully explained how everything worked and left us with plenty of maps and information. As it is not a hotel, there is no reception on site, so you would need to give her a call if there are any issues. A lovely cosy little apartment to stay in, with a really handy location and represented good value at just under 100euros per night.…
We stayed in the new studio apartment that they now have. Kikki was a great communicator from the beginning. She met us at the apartment and showed us around and gave us the key. The apartment was super warm and super clean in a very central location. The furniture and fittings were brand new and of a good quality. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to do a lapland trip on a 'shoe string'. Excellent stay.
We stayed in the guesthouse in February. The place is very comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. Very clean, comfortable bed. A nice kitchen for preparing a meal and includes the basics: salt, cooking oil, tea.. The hosts live across the yard and were very welcoming. The place is in a nice quiet neighborhood, a 10-15 minutes walk from the center. But the walk is very nice, we even handled it with our backpacks and there is not much to do in the center anyway. It is not very big, perfect for one or two people or maybe a couple with kids. We definitely regret we couldn't stay longer!
Stayed in the apartment at Ounasjoentie. Very nice for a small family. The kitchen is practical when traveling with children. Clean and cosy. Warm at the summer but there was a fan for cooling. Very quiet by night. We went to city centre walking, the distance is quite short.
We found Casa Arctica on Trip Advisor and would highly recommend booking Kiki's cottage rather than a hotel stay. Since the early planning stages of our Finland/Scandinavia trip, all I heard from my wife was her desire to visit the home of Santa Claus and to step across the Arctic Circle. Since my duty is to say, "yes dear" I would nod appropriately, smile and answer in the affirmative. Rovaniemi is about 11 1/2 hours driving time north of Helsinki, Finland and once again I said "yes dear" thinking the idea a little far-fetched to fit into our travel plans. The city offers up the largest land mass of any city in all Europe and Casa Arctica is a 1 km walk to the center of activity and only 3,000 meters so so from the river bike path and Articum museum. I believe the cottage to be a converted garage in the back yard of Kiki's home offering sleeping for four with bunk beds and a queen bed. If you are looking for luxury go to a big old traditional hotel, but if you want an adventure - a nice reasonable place with a truly friendly host and lovely sauna, try Casa Arctica. The cottage offers a fridge and kitchenette. We parked the car and did all the sights in the city by foot and even took a walk to the river and watched sunset at 11:10 pm (sunrise came at 2:30 am). In the morning we laced up our running shoes and did our version of the Rovaniemi 10K before returning for a sauna/shower, coffee and laying out the plans to visit Santa and the reindeer. Nothing fancy but nice, clean and friendly. I am very happy I said "yes dear" to Rovaniemi and Casa Arctica.…
Stayed here for one night only, but it was enough to become charmed by the town and area. Our apartment was directly behind the owner's home, down a small laneway. The sauna was excellent and the kids enjoyed the curtained bunk beds, each with its own reading light. Downtown was a short walk away, as was the Arktikum, which I also recommend. The Finnish arctic seems to be a smart and healthy corner of the world. I hope to go back.
