Hotel's Favourite
It was snowing as we landed in Rovaniemi on 16th March 2023.We hired a rent a car and within 10 minutes we were at Santa Claus Holiday village. The staff at the reception was very accomodative and prepared our room for an early checkin. The cottage was spacious and clean with an basic equipped kitchen and a sauna. The staff at the reception breifed us about our options for the husy and reindeer ride. The Arctic circle, Santa's office, Santa's post office, the Husky Park( where we did the husky jenga ride for 90 EUR for 2 Adults and 2 children) a small reindeer park ( where we did the 500m reindeer ride for 60EUR for 2 adults and 2 children), the kids snow mobile(22EUR per child) were all within walking distance from our accomodation. As all the attractions were close to our accomodation, we had the oppurtunity to amble through the frozen village duing night time with the colorful and magical lights which made the village look facinating. We went to meet Santa at this official office and the kids had an exciting time striking a conversation with Santa for a couple of minutes. We were not allowed to click pictures with Santa using our own camera but the elf there was our photographer and while leaving the office, we could buy our digital photos and the recorded video conversation with Santa for 50 EUR. We had booked our accomodation with breakfast and the breakfast was served in the three elves restaurant. Ambiance was good and there was a descent spread with breads, vegan spreads, marmalade, boiled eggs, berries and yogurt, fruits, cornflakes, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, vegan milk, and juices. Since we were vegetarians, we could explore only these options. There were toboggans available for free at the reception enterance and kids were sliding on the heapes of snow near the accomodation. We stayed here for 2 nights and the kids loved the place. The staff at the reception even referred some places to view the Auroras but we could not view the lights in Rovaniemi as it was cloudy. We walked through the woods behind our accomodation early morning on the 17th and it was an amazing stroll in the snowy woods. 18th Morning after breakfast we were leaving for Saariselka and it was snowing heavily, upon asking, the staff at the reception assured us that it is very much safe to drive while its snowing. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Santa Claus Holiday Village.

We have been here last year and really enjoyed it. That is why we decided to come back this year. We were a bit disappointed because a lot of things were not as good as last year. We had booked a family suite in Santa Claus Holiday Village hotel. The layout of those suites is not smart in my opinion. You do not have access to the bathroom from the parents bedroom, but you need to go through the other room where the children are sleeping all the time. Also the parents room is only separated by a wooden sliding door from the children’s bedroom. So you can only whisper and have no privacy at all if you do not want to disturb your children. Cleaning of the rooms does not take place. They only exchange towels ans straighten the beds, but they never do any cleaning. So the floors, sinks, etc. look a bit disgusting after a couple of days. We had booked a rate with breakfast at the „Three Elves“ Restaurant. Breakfast was a lot worst compared to last year. The do not prepare omelettes anymore (which were really good last year!). You can just have some disgusting scrambled eggs instead. Also there are basically no fresh items available for breakfast. It is mainly sweet stuff that often was very dry and did not seem fresh, like croissants, cakes, etc. It was really much better last year. So I hope it will improve again, because we would really like to com beackern next winter, because overall it is a magic place. But maybe we will try another hotel next time.

We liked the hotel and its surroundings very much. Definitely perfect for experiencing the winter holiday and Christmas spirit. Although the hotel's rooms are nice, the room cleaning is not good. The beds are made but the room is not cleaned. Many thanks to Andres from Columbia who served us excellently at breakfast every day. He's a tremendous employee with an always smiling face

Do not stay here. The only advantage is the location, but I would recommend any of the other accommodations in the village( glass resort, no sally and, etc) but not this one. Very expensive and it’s a very basic/poorly done room. And they offer no cleaning. To be clear- this was not a surprise, they did say that at booking time which I thought wouldn’t be a big deal. However it was a huge deal. When you are in and out with snow, wet clothes etc, it makes for a very poor experience. For the incredible high price we paid I find it unacceptable that they don’t provide cleaning. After a few days here I was ready to leave. It really was that bad. Don’t stay here if you have another option.

It’s just not like anything you’ve seen before, it is absolutely magical. The place is like something out of a movie and I never got bored of the view. The place is really well set up and staying at the cottages was really convenient as it was 2mins walk to everything. The staff are so kind and patient and the food (we ate the 3 Elves restaurant, Snowman cafe and Christmas restaurant and Salmon hut) was really good. My kids spent most of the time wanting to just play in the snow and we found plenty of mini hills for them to go sledging. Sledges can be found around the village for free. We spent a few hours in Snowman world (separate entrance fee but worth it) which we enjoyed as a family very much. We booked an Artic Fun day (9:30-14:30) through the hotel and it was fantastic, this included sledging, snowmobile (for kids), ice fishing (didn’t catch any fish), husky ride (we got to play with some puppies!), reindeer rides (highlight for me) and a very delicious and cosy soup lunch for adults and spaghetti bolognaise for the kids. My son has allergies (eggs, dairy and nuts) and they were able to cater for those needs. The tour includes overalls to keep you warm and it gets very cold but there were huts with fire inside and tea to keep warm. The best part was seeing Santa, if you stay at the village, get to Santas office for 8:30am (doors opens at 9am), then you won’t have to wait and queue or get a ticket to return, we pretty much walked straight in. My youngest was so excited and when he got there was so overwhelmed by it all that he couldn’t even look at Santa! For 50euros you get 2 digital photos and a video of the whole encounter. Santas office is better than Santas house in my opinion. The whole experience and the backdrop and photos are better at his office if you only have time to choose 1.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our two children aged 7 and 4, and we all had an amazing experience from start to finish. We stopped in a superior cottage, which was festively decorated with twinkling lights and had a Christmas tree on the patio. Inside, it was warm, modern, and comfy, and the sauna was a real treat after chilly days. The only negative about the room was that the king-size bed was two single beds pushed together with two separate mattresses, and these kept slipping apart if you ventured into the middle! We were lucky that lots of snow had already fallen, and the kids loved sledging down the snow piles outside the cottages Breakfast at Three Elves was good, but it got really busy on both days. Unfortunately, it took quite a while to get our food and drinks due to the queues. The biggest bottleneck was the single coffee machine, so adding more machines could definitely improve this.

This was the highlight of our trip.we loved the biscuit and warm juice around the fire pit. Our daughter and son loved petting the huskies and their pups. The husky ride was superb, once in a lifetime experience, in beautiful settings. Only shame is the Northern Lights didn't show up for us.

Guide is very customer-oriented. Understand my need. She talks to us during long ride to zoo. She drives very attentive even she needed to be starving to stay alert. She knows the detail of the zoo and shows us the expected walking time and the location of WC.
