Very nice resort outside Rovaniemi. We stayed in the Lake Front Suite and room was cozy and big. 1 thing missing: a nice wardrobe to put clothes. Restaurant offers buffet and a la carte both fairly good but nothing exceptional. Extra activities very well organized but a bit pricey.
Great Winter Wonderland just a quick ride to Santa’s Village. We were able to see the Northern Lights from our room. For the kids, on the resort there was some sledding and the breakfast was a good way to start the day. Had plenty of access to book adventures if needed. Easy cab access.
What an incredible place Apukka is. The views are spectacular, the accommodation spacious and clean, the food was great catering for fussy children and a fussy vegetarian and the staff were so friendly. We did several of the tours offered, they were all fantastic. The guides are all passionate and extremely knowledgable. We all agreed, this was by far, the best family holiday we have ever had. The only issue we had was the heat from the domed window. We spoke to maintenance who fixed the problem very quickly.
It was simply the perfect holiday. The atmosphere was just magical and the rooms were a unique experience. The staff were nice and very helpful. The safaris were very fun and the staff taking care of them where professional and knowledgeable. The food at the resort was also very good.
Just got back from a 3 night stay. It really was a magical experience right from arrival. A beautiful resort, lovely accommodation, really helpful and friendly staff in reception and restaurants as well as the guides. Activities are well run and really enjoyable. The winter clothing provided is essential and really does the job at keeping you dry and warm. Quick replies to emails ahead of our stay and to WhatsApp messages while there. Will definitely be recommending Apukka to anyone looking to visit Lapland - it's not just for children!
From arrival the staff cannot do enough for you - so helpful and accommodating. When we asked if there was a fire so we could read our books the hotel reception organised for staff to light a fire in the outdoor tipi! Then you check in to the most magical suite - you’ve got to see it !! The whole resort is brilliant and I recommend allowing plenty of time to enjoy the bar/tipis/open fires/restaurants/lake/tubing/visiting reindeer and horses. Our only problem was that we wish we had stayed even longer. We will be back! Thank you so much.
This resort has all you need to switch off for a few days: unspoilt nature, fantastic animal encounters, fun sportive events and good food. If you want to explore what lapland is all about, you will find it right here.
We stayed for our final night at Apukka. I found the location a little disappointing, just off a busy road and it felt very much a resort location, lacking personal touches. The Kosimo suite was a very basic glorified tipi. The decor was quite basic really with some fake fur to add a touch of 'luxury'. There were wires on the wall underneath the lights and the furniture was squeezed in. Of course if you could see the northern lights through the roof window then it would have been glorious but otherwise you don't get a view of the surroundings and it makes you feel a little cut off. We didn't find it comfortable to sit in the cabin for the time before dinner, the chairs aren't comfortable and, due to the circular room, not conducive to two people chatting. I couldn't read in bed as the lights were so poor. I found the hole cabin incredibly basic and dark and really lacking in what I would call luxury and for £600 for one night. I could stay at the Savoy in London for this and experience proper luxury. Otherwise I found the restaurant very good value for money, we needed to eat before our Husky Tour and had the buffet which had some local dishes and many other options, all very good. Breakfast was equally varied and delicious. The nighttime Husky Tour was amazing and completely worth the money, a great adventure. I found the staff lacking in the extra touch, no one mentioned the northern lights to us in reception and I wasn't aware that we could use an app to let us know if the lights were out. We were just another couple out of hundreds checking in and being directed to our room. Again I would hope for a little more at the price. If I did stay again I would stay in the family suites by the lake so I had a much better view, the scenery over the lake was beautiful and, if you don't get to see the lights then this view makes up for that a bit. I probably wouldn't choose to stay again thought, we had previously stayed just outside Paltamo at the Arctic Gian with a hot tub, Sauna and beautiful cabin for much less money and were just as likely to see the lights there. …
This is a high-class beautiful resort with excellent quality accommodation and very attentive service. It is located at the edge of the lake that was frozen when we went there in January. Walking on the frozen lake at night, hoping to see norther lights, was one of our scenic highlights. Apukka also does a really good Huskey dog sled experience and sauna / open air jacuzzi experience (all at a hefty price). 4 of us stayed in a Lappish Kammi Suite accommodation, it’s pretty, very elegant inside, you can see more from the website. It was nice, but I would not choose it again: the glass roof fools you to thinking you’re bound to see Northern lights. Well we saw nothing as it was mostly cloudy.. but even if it were clear, we turned off all our lights but the glass roof still reflected all the outdoor lights of neighbouring huts! This was pretty frustrating. There is an Apukka bus you can pay for to take you to town or airport, but arranging a taxi was more convenient and cheaper. Food options were good. Many nice touches like chocolate in the room, open fire in outdoor places. We were lucky enough to have our hut ready a few hours early. …
Our stay was perfect from the beginning up until the end. We drove our luggage to our spacious glass suite with a sledge, had an incredible husky adventure and snowmobiling tour which was so much fun. My boyfriend proposed me to marry him while watching the Northern Lights and Apukka did a little surprise for our engagement in the room. An unforgettable experience.
