I recently stopped at Hotel Vartiosaari while on a trip with Flash Pack. The hotel is absolutely stunning!
The rooms are spacious and cosy with really good amenities provided. The shower area is again spacious and benefits from underfloor heating and complimentary toiletries.
The hotel is situated on a private island which is a truly stunning location, taking a walk around the snowy path that circles round you come across two look out points. One is a perfect location to enjoy an evening bonfire (as we did with bonus Northern Lights) and the other provides a unique spot to watch the sunrise over the snow covered lake.
The staff were amazing throughout our stay and worked hard to ensure that all our needs were catered for. The restaurant is cosy with a lovely firepit in the middle and the Chef was absolutely amazing - I have never had food that good.
If you have an opportunity to stay at Hotel Vartiosaari take it.

Hotel Vartiosaari is the most beautiful location on a small private island. We were lucky enough to have clear skies and it was the perfect spot to see the Northern Lights on 2 different evenings. Kyle and Anni were amazing hosts and really made the trip. Kyle gave us great advice on the best activities to do locally. The private chef was amazing, I loved all the food and I am usually quite fussy! The rooms were spacious, clean and incredibly comfy. The saunas were perfect for warming up after a day of outside activities. I would highly recommend this location, particularly for anyone wanting to see the Northern Lights. If we had stayed in the town centre we may not have seen them as there is more light pollution, this location gives you much more opportunity to see the lights. However, it is also a very short drive to the town centre so you don't have to spend long travelling but feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere. I would definitely stay again.

I went on a tour through Flashpack and this hotel is amazing. Our host, Kyle really made the trip special and helped us out with anything we needed. The hotel is on a private islan on a river. The rooms vary in size but I was with a friend and ours had an "upstairs" area (small loft area) that had two twin beds and on the main floor was a queen bed. I was there in February so it was cold outside but the rooms were cozy and the provided blankets kept me plenty warm sleeping. The bathroom was chillier than the room but that was hardly an issue. The room is nice and modern and the views around the island are great. It's quiet and with a full moon and all the snow everywhere it was very bright at night and you could see a lot. Also I was able to see the northern lights on two nights so you can definitely see them from this hotel. As part of our trip through Flashpack we had a chef and he was amazing, the food was really good. There is a dining room on the island where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two saunas but they are not just open all the time. Our host, Kyle set up the winter sauna whenever we asked him to.
The summer sauna was set up after our dip in the ice water. That one takes a lot more time to set up so we appreciated Kyle setting it up. The winter sauna was quite nice and our group used it several times. The activities we had were no more than 10-15 minutes away. Going through Flashpack and staying on this island at hotel Vartiosaari was amazing. The place looks right out of a fairy tale and Kyle was an amazing host.

It's one of the worst places I've ever stayed at, paying this level of money.
As a result, we may need to check in early since we are arriving by plane. However, even though they have empty rooms, they charge an hourly fee for early check-in.
But this is not a problem either.
The rooms at the hotel are nice, although they have some problems.
It is in a bad location and they help with transportation. To go to the city center, you have to pay an average of 30 EUR one way.
One of the interesting issues is that they offer dinner service, but it is open buffet; Let's say they cook a meal like a salad and get paid for it. You can eat this meal unlimitedly, or you can eat in the city center by paying 60 EUR round trip. The choice is up to you. It is realy terrible. I paid 15-20 euros per person for a meal like potato salad.
There is no bar or any activity you can do in your location.
They have a small sauna and it is free and only open between 5 and 7 pm. If all the rooms come, they cannot use it.
You may be going for a holiday, but you have to wake up in the morning because breakfast ends at 10 o'clock. And it is better to go to breakfast at 8 o'clock. They never renew what's left for breakfast. You can't drink hot tea, and whatever food is left may have to be gnawed like a mouse.
There is a television in the room that you can view with a magnifying glass. If you get bored of the activities that are not available at the hotel, you can watch television with magnifying glass.
A hotel that is definitely not worth the money they charge. Frankly, if I rented a house and stayed there, I would have more options and pay much less.

Be careful which agencies send you to this hotel: they try to fill to the maximum and you end up with a room for 2 people (1 double bed) for 3 people. I travelled with exclusive Lapland (scandinavia) and for each group sent (1 group for 4 or 5 days), each time, 1 family is left behind.
We had booked a chalet with mezzanine or 1 double bed downstairs and a single bed for children upstairs normally. We had a room with just 1 double bed. When we made a claim, we were made to understand that we had no choice because the hotel was full, and we were brought a small mattress that they placed on a wooden bench not very wide, made to sit normally, under the window.... The mattress of course was laid half on the bench, half in the void and my daughter was afraid to fall, we had to sleep 3 in the bed 2 places. As for the agency, they played dead throughout our stay. For the Award paid, it is inadmissible. The other families who paid the same Award did have a room with mezzanine. And I knew that this incident happened several times before our trip and also after... There are 10th rooms in the hotel, so you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting screwed....

Visited Hotel Vartiosaari through a company called Flashpack in early February 2023. It was the most amazing experience and trip. Kyle Miller was the most gracious host, and made every accommodation that we asked for. The island was magical and the cabins were clean and comfortable. They even hired a private chef to cook us 5 star meals at their own restaurant on the island.
All in all, I can't ask for anything else from this experience. From dog sledding to snowmobiling to forest skiing to ice water dipping, it was all that I hoped for. Thanks for memories of a lifetime and I wish to visit again some day!

We arrived here on a business trip and this place is unbelievable. A winter wonderland on a private Island. Accommodation is immaculate, sauna , snow, freezing cold and so quiet. We were cooked a meal this evening by a personal Chef and I have never tasted food like it . Local starters, Salmon, and then Reindeer for the main. I can not recommend this place enough. 5 Stars does not even begin to say how good this trip has been. Ideal for business, family or just couples. You have to visit and eat here.

Excellent stay here, hosted by Anni and Kyle. The location is stunning, and we saw the northern lights on one evening from the lookout point. The food is very good, the rooms great (it was -24c when we were there so we enjoyed the underfloor heating!!), nice sauna, and yet you can be in the centre of Rovaniemi in less than 15 minutes.
Anni and Kyle go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Would definitely recommend here

One of the most phenomenal hotel experiences I’ve ever stayed in. Kyle and Anni were exceptional hosts and couldn’t have done enough for us. They organised everything for us and the cold water swimming and sauna on site was a memory for life- amazing. Kyle helped us navigate our way through looking at the northern lights which were spectacular and we got to experience some amazing local culture.
Highly recommend. The perfect escape in Lapland.

I stayed in three hotels in Rovaniemi and this was absolutely the best out of the three.
The accommodations were fantastic (roomy bathrooms with rainforest shower heads and Babyliss hair dryers. Lovely designs for each unit and fantastic views from each one.
The food was also some of the best of ever eaten (out of every where, not just Finland) and the staff — Kyle, Anni, and the rest were friendly and fantastic.
Location: a beautiful private island that’s in the middle of a river and accessed by a suspension bridge is in a location close to everything in Rovaniemi. It felt so special to be there, that I cried in the cab as I was pulling away.
This will probably the only place I stay when I come back to Lapland.
