This was a very interesting place. Close to Santa's Village, the igloos are essentially studios with glass windows and ceilings covering half of the dwelling and a bathroom with a closet and storage near the entrance.

Perfect for viewing the northern lights, the igloos offered enough opportunity for privacy with curtains that could be pulled to cover the windows while still allowing for an excellent and unobstructed view of the sky. The great thing was that you could sleep and wait for the aurora alarm to awaken you if/when the northern lights are visible.

The rooms were very well furnished for their size and they included a little sitting area, kettle for tea or coffee, and televisions. Some rooms also had saunas in them.

The front desk and reception area had an adjacent dining room. On the evening that we dined there, the menu consisted of an appetizer plate of lox, smoked salmon, smoked sausage, reindeer meat and reindeer chips, and white fish. This was followed by carrot soup, Arctic char, and chocolate cake served with berries and cheese. The food was quite good for dinner as well as for breakfast. They offered a simple but nicely presented buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries and breads, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts and cheese, and the same chocolate cake that we'd had for dinner.

This was definitely a beautiful, romantic place that could be cozy and absolutely wonderful. Minus one star because our room was freezing when we checked in and the water in the shower got cold quickly and needed about 30 minutes to warm back up. It would've been helpful if they'd turned the heat on prior to our checking in. But, seeing a glimpse of the northern lights more than made up for this!

Santa’s Igloos are cozy and comfortable. It reminded us of luxury cruise ship accommodations in compactness and functionality. Temperature can be easily controlled, and was always perfect. There is a button you press to melt snow and ice off the glass roof to keep it clear for star gazing or the aurora (should you be lucky to see them - use the aurora alarm to try). The igloos with a sauna are connected to another igloo, but luckily it was vacant during our stay. They do not have stand alone igloos with sauna, so opt for the premium igloo without sauna for maximum privacy or book sauna igloo with a connected igloo. There were sleds available for guests to use on property.

Things we would improve about the igloos: more storage shelves (cabinets are mainly used as utility closets and locked) and individual toiletries instead of pump bottles on the wall. It would also be great to have some upgraded igloos available with a hot tub outside!

The price included breakfast and dinner (labeled as evening snack, but it was substantial enough for dinner). Breakfast was a bit hit and miss: there were some basics usually included in Finnish hotel breakfast (yogurt, bread, salmon), but there were no plain scrambled eggs (only eggs mixed with potatoes, which were extremely salty) and boiled eggs were too soft to our liking (7-minute eggs). One morning there were no croissants. Waffle bar, however, was a nice feature. Evening dinner was a buffet and excellent in variety and flavor. We found plenty of foods to enjoy at dinner.

The staff were pleasant and friendly. The walk to Santa Claus Village was a bit longer than from most of the resorts in the area, but it was not a problem to us. We loved being able to walk to all
the attractions.

As for COVID safety, the staff wore masks and guests were not required to. It bothered us a bit to see some guests go back to the buffet with a used plate - this should not be allowed,
especially during the pandemic. We also did not like how despite ample seating other guests would pick a table right next to ours. Social distancing could have been managed better with friendly reminders (don’t leave it up to the guests).

My wife and I stayed at Santa's Igloos in November 2021 for our honeymoon and really enjoyed the experience.

The hotel was just reopening after the Covid-19 pandemic and so was quiet during our visit which we preferred.

The hotel Manager Suha was extremely accommodating. As it was our honeymoon he offered us a complementary upgrade from our Glass Igloo to one which contained a Sauna which made the occasion even more memorable.
Even one day when our taxi did not seem to arrive, he offered to drive us to our destination in his own car. We can't thank him enough for the service we received.

We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel did not have a lunch or dinner service running due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, it was a short walk to Santa's Village where there were alternative restaurants available.

The hotel lobby and main dining area were nicely decorated with a Christmas theme.

The front desk staff were all really friendly and often advised us on the likelihood of the Northern Lights being visible each evening.

In terms of food, breakfast options were basic, but being vegetarian there was a limited hot food choice. It would have been great to have a few more continental options for the buffet. However, the waffle maker was a real treat each morning.

The rooms were very cosy, and surprisingly more spacious than we expected. We enjoyed waking up to the snow and winter skies each morning, and were fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights twice during our visit. The room also had a window heater which would melt the window ice quickly to avoid missing out on any potential Northern Light sightings.

We would advise requesting a room where there are no other rooms in front of otherwise your view isn't as nice as it could be given the remote surroundings.

Overall we had a great experience and would recommend staying in the hotel during months where Northern Light activity is likely.

For a 700 Euro a night hotel, you can expect regular power cuts. Hot shower you can only use for 20 min and then you have to wait for 30 min to take the second half of your shower.
The room is cold and you have to ask if they can turn on the floor heating every morning, because they control it from the reception.
They have an airco that blows out even drier air into the room, so you will get more dehydrated when you wake up. So better to have a bottle of water ready to drink at night.
The tv has only 7 channels. So your kids will be bored. Especially when there is no electricity and the Santa village is 15 min away by walking distance.
The dinner choice is limited and they will serve in batches tighter with the other tables, so don’t arrive too early or you will must be waiting.

We did saw the Aurora, but this was not through the glass roof, everyone was standing outside for the view.

Not worth the price and don’t expect a romantic hotel just because of the glass roof. Which has snow on the roof and you have to remind the reception to preheat the roof glass, something you would thought they would do automatically.

5 star price for a 1 star experience.

Overall, this place is a gem. We rented two rooms for the family and were very happy with the atmosphere and comfort. Yes, it is expensive, but where else can you stare up at the northern lights from your own cozy bedroom!

Things we loved:

The room is adorable with nordic touches everwhere and the bed was very comfortable. It was always warm, but there are extra blankets available if needed. Wifi worked well. There is an alarm that will wake you if the northern lights are viewable. The room had plenty of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc for when you come in from the cold and need something hot right away. There are robes and most importantly, slippers, which are essential for frozen toes. The breakfast buffet was included in the room and quite good. The front desk will call a taxi for you or you can do it from your room. There is a storage locker to leave your luggage on the last day, should you want to spend some extra time the last day. The reception area itself is warm and inviting and turns into a bar after dinner. Though they had a limited selection, we were delighted at our drinks.

A very few downsides:

The open concept shower flows into the rest of the bathroom and we spent time trying to avoid having wet socks. The only storage in the room is a few cubbies in the entrace area, which were nice and large, but one additional endtable for storage would have been fantastic so that we could fully unpack. There is a similar lack of storage in the bathroom for toiletries. There are bright lights along the paths outside for safety reasons that will sometimes make it difficult to make out the stars and the northern lights. This isn't something that can be helped I'm sure, but worth noting. Overall, theses are very small issues. We loved this property and would definately go again.

My review is a little bias because we spotted the Aurora Borealis from there which was by chance and totally unexpected. The lights put on a show for a good 45 minutes. The hotel sends you alerts on the electronic devices in your room.

The room was beautiful with the magnificent glass panels and ceiling, gorgeous to sleep under the stars if its not covered with snow. The amenities are extremely basic for the price you pay @700euros. Just a kettle provided with no cups nor any tea or coffee. Also disappointing is that there is no spa facility of even a basic sauna or steam.

The breakfast served is nice and substantial but the restaurant is closed for lunch and open again only for dinner from 5pm onwards. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and obliging which made the experience a little better.

The hotel is very well located, close to the husky park and Santa's village. Overall a great experience but for the price you pay and amenities you get will have to rethink visiting again.

Good:
Nice and warm staff.
Room was nice and gozy. Nice design lobby, room and restaurant.
Breakfast: warm meals were very tasty.

Things to develop:
Douplebed did not stay together. Very slipper, if you do something else than watch Aurora.

Breakfast: Eggs should be under heat lamb, now eggs were a bit cold. Also egg cup should be there and little spoons near eggs. Also i would love to eat 3 min eggs.

I stayed in santas igloos for 4 nights and I was lucky enough to experience bought the igloos with the sauna and the premium igloo with the outdoor Jacuzzi!

I must say they were both extremely cool in there own ways! While I was there we experienced -20 degrees Celsius for the first two nights so getting home from our day exploring and jumping into the sauna was a surreal experience.

The outdoor Jacuzzi came at the perfect time as we were able to sit out in it at night time and stay so warm while watching the snow fall.

The premises itself is lovely and very aesthetically pleasing, the igloos are a generous size and come with a modestly priced mini bar which makes it more appealing.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us, I would like to give a special mention to Elizaveta, Medini and Noah who went above and beyond to engage with us during our stay.

The food in the restaurant was delicious and very Finnish, I enjoyed elk and veal as well as a scampi risotto.

The desserts were also magnificent (blueberry pie is what I'd recommend)

All in all I will most certainly go back hopefully sooner rather than later.

The only small hiccup we experienced was when we switched from our first igloo to our second igloo we unfortunately had to checkout at 11am and wait until 4pm to check back in.

But honestly this wouldn't deter me from going back tomorrow if possible.

Location wise is perfect as it's about a 5 min walk to santas village and most tour companies like safartica offer a pickup/dropoff service.

Having spent three nights at the igloos, all I can say is, I loved every minute. The staff were really helpful , friendly and always had a cheerful manner. Our evening meal was a 4 course meal, very enjoyable, the waiter was attentive and on our 1st night they told us the northern lights were outside, we all went out to watch. The igloo, although the bedroom was on the small size, but who needs its any bigger? It was warm and cosy and watching the northing lights from our bed, magical.
I can’t believe the negative comments. We had a very enjoyable time and would visit again.

Beautiful place, helpful staff and excellent dinner
The property is very beautiful, the reception is small and very nice, the restaurant is in a beautiful space and dinner is highly recommend.
Unfortunately in such an expensive accommodation (750 euro per room) you would except to have some kind of spa, and certainly sauna and jacuzzi, but there are no spa facilities.

The room
The Igloos glass ceiling is spectacular, and it is real fantastic experience going to sleep under the sky (we had all curtains fully open)
The room itself is very basic, and even Spartan, the living area floor is heated but not the entrance floor and not the bathroom floor.
The bathroom is small, not enough place to put your things,
No proper toiletries, no lotion.
The pillow was not comfortable, and only one, no down blankets
No water bottles in the room.
The iPad was glued to the wall

Breakfast
Very nice buffet, beautiful space and very helpful staff

Over all a beautiful experience, but it is overpriced for what it can offer.

I am not quite sure about that but the staff is very helpful. I think you should call them and ask. I am sure they can come up with something. They can drive your wife to your igloo.
