We stayed here with tents for 2 nights. The lady at reception was really sweet and helpful. The area for tents was a lovely grass area which is level with soft soil which made it easy to put the tent pegs into. The showers had good pressure and hot water. There are only two toilets for ladies and 2 for men, so sometimes one had to wait for their turn. There are no hand towels, so you need your own. The kitchen block was small but neat. You can borrow bikes for free to ride up town which was great! The only thing we would change is to pitch our tent away from the cabins. We were unfortunate to have rude people stay up on the first night talking in loud voices while they sat on the verandah of their cabin which was only a few metres away from our tent. We like our peace at night and couldn't sleep. We asked them several times to keep the volume down but they didn't care, and they finally stopped talking about 3am. Why book a place to sleep when you intend to stay up all night and ruin everyone else's sleep? If you're lucky with peaceful campers, it is a lovely place to stay.

Updated rooms and very friendly and attentive staff. Hotel offers a variety of activities so you can book on arrival or in advance. Saw the Aurora right outside the hotel after hours of hunting. Airport pickup if needed. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the 3-bedroom cottage for 4 nights in NHC in early December 2017. The cottage can accommodate 6 ppl and also have a private sauna room for us. Just a few steps away from the cottage you can see the magnificant aurora. The owners Henri and Pavii are kind and helpful. They will let you know all you need to know. They could also help to arrange safaris like husky ride, snowmobile and cross country skiiing. The dinner at their restaurants was delicious. Wifi is not a problem at all. The vicinity is really nice. Near the cottages is a lake and in winter time you can skii on it.
However, if you come without a car, pulling luggages from the bus stop on the snow is a problem but we made it. Supermarket is not really that close, about 30 mins walk (under the snow), you can borrow a sledge to go there, just be prepared to get your self some exercises if you go to the supermarket. Still i would recommend this place as the experience is superb!

We had a wonderful stay at the Näverniemi Holiday Centre! The cabin was comfortable, clean, and warm with plenty of space for the two of us! The ensuite in particular was lovely and the cabin came with all necessities needed for self-catering. It was a perfect base to explore and enjoy Lapland. Henri was particularly helpful with transfers and helped us to book activities - definitely recommend the Husky Safari! The Northern Lights even made a fantastic appearance outside our cabin on the last night - which we would have missed without our hosts knocking on our door to tell us! All in all a fantastic holiday! Only recommendation is to hire a car whilst there as it makes it easier to explore the surrounding area outside of Ivalo!

I was here two nights for business, our cottage was pre booked by my employer. And truly was it poor. Bed was hard and noisy, every time you turn around. Kitchen was equipped in 80's, lock on the toilet door was broken and the toilet seat was leaking water to the floor. Little electric sauna had no ventilation, except of opening the window (not very environmentally friendly), and I've seen much cleaner ones as well. The whole cottage was poisoned by mould, it was seemingly smelly and I got quite sick there. So if you have these sort of problems, do not come even nearby. It is well located next to the River Ivalo, nearby airport and the town itself is basically in a walking distance, but the accommodation itself is sadly poor and very lazily kept.

I stayed here for two nights and to be honest I couldnt wait to leave which was a shame because the surrounding area was lovely. But the beds were very uncomfortable. The little kitchnette in my room was barely functional, the fridge kept everything warm despite adjusting it. There was nothing to do the dishes with. It got down to 5 degrees whilst I was there and the heaters did not work in my room....I dont think I will be coming booking this place again. You do get free WIFI however the service was poor, and the tv was placed on top of a wardrobe which was watching awkward.

Had a great time staying at Naverniemi for 4 nights. Henry and his wife (owners) were very friendly and accommodating.
The room was basic but had everything we needed for our stay and perfect for Aurora watching. Literally step outside the cabin and look up.
We ate traditional finnish salmon from the restaurant which was fantastic.
The owners knocked on our door on the second night to tell us the Aurora was visible. Truly amazing.
The supermarket is approx 2km walk from the cabin, however, this is necessary to reduce light pollution from the town. The walk to town is nice, through woodland and you can borrow stand on sleds for the journey.
Highly recommend and would stay again.

So I booked a cottage for myself, instead of booking into a hotel. I couldn't wait to visit and chillax. Well, I was gutted when I walked in. It's a mini-dormitory, with beds everywhere. If it was a very nice place, it could be forgiven, but it is very dated and worn out. I'd have expected this standard in 1985, not in 2015. Drastically in need of a refurb. Shouldn't be marketed as a cosy little cottage, it should be marketed as worn out dorm for 10 mates. I feel ripped off, as I paid the same amount I usually pay and I always get very nice cottages. But I couldn't wait to leave this one. Avoid (unless you actually want a dorm for 10 mates!).

in winter time, it is extremely harsh to walk 700m to the main road, and 2 km to town centre. driving is necessary.
but a very good place to observe northern light, it is very far away from any light pollution

When we planned our trip we wanted to have a small, cheap stay close to the airport before heading further south on the next day. We found this with the Naverniemi Holiday Center.
Henri and Päivi are fantastic hosts! While Henri organised a Husky Safari for us before the trip (which was fantastic!) Päivi took care of most things in the hotel. She was super-kind, friendly and always up for a talk.
The room itself was tidy and there was a small radiator providing all the heat for the small cabin. In the morning the air in the cabin got a bit stuffy because we let it run overnight and you can't open a window at these temperatures (January). The showers were very small but had warm water. Wi-Fi speed was better than expected as well!
When coming from Ivalo airport you can hop on the bus there (buses always leave when there's a plane coming) and tell the bus driver to drop you off at the road before the Holiday Center. You will have to walk for about 1000 metres (according to google maps) to find the reception.
I would not recommend this place for a longer vacation but if you're traveling on a budget and/or need a hotel for one night I will recommend a stay!

Hi, unfortunately I am not aware of the paying/ booking methods, since my then employer handled everything. But I would suppose you needing credit card. All the best.
"Please arrive here first, check the cottages available and only then choose. Not an easy task on the high season, but worth of doing it, instead of pre booking."
There are more places to choose from in the Ivalo area.
