We stayed here with tents for 2 nights. The lady at reception was really sweet and helpful. The area for tents was a lovely grass area which is level with soft soil which made it easy to put the tent pegs into. The showers had good pressure and hot water. There are only two toilets for ladies and 2 for men, so sometimes one had to wait for their turn. There are no hand towels, so you need your own. The kitchen block was small but neat. You can borrow bikes for free to ride up town which was great! The only thing we would change is to pitch our tent away from the cabins. We were unfortunate to have rude people stay up on the first night talking in loud voices while they sat on the verandah of their cabin which was only a few metres away from our tent. We like our peace at night and couldn't sleep. We asked them several times to keep the volume down but they didn't care, and they finally stopped talking about 3am. Why book a place to sleep when you intend to stay up all night and ruin everyone else's sleep? If you're lucky with peaceful campers, it is a lovely place to stay. …
Nice, quiet place with nice people. We stayed one night with a camper on our trip to Finnmark in Norway. The price was normal, and you can have electrisity if you want. In the morning we had a nice sight to some reindeers beside the river.
Room simple but warm and cozy- necessary in the bitter cold. Dinner was beyond wonderfull - best fish I ever had. Owner helpful and caring . Made a point of letting us know the aurora were dancing, even when it interrupted the dinner, so we wouldn’t miss it. Won’t go back in winter because of the bitter cold but the location and establishment were perfect for our purposes.
Had a great time staying at Naverniemi for 4 nights. Henry and his wife (owners) were very friendly and accommodating. The room was basic but had everything we needed for our stay and perfect for Aurora watching. Literally step outside the cabin and look up. We ate traditional finnish salmon from the restaurant which was fantastic. The owners knocked on our door on the second night to tell us the Aurora was visible. Truly amazing. The supermarket is approx 2km walk from the cabin, however, this is necessary to reduce light pollution from the town. The walk to town is nice, through woodland and you can borrow stand on sleds for the journey. Highly recommend and would stay again.
This is nice place for campers and caravans and I don’t see a reason why not for others too. Sauna is especially good, so I suggest you reserve it. The owners are renovating the place, so I think the place will keep its level in the future
We were there with recreational vehicle and tent. There are toilets and showers, also sauna (which is not included, but from reservations). There is kitchen, where you can cook with hotplate and few micros and you can do dishes there. There is three table so plenty of room for everyone. On a field there is also plenty of room for every car so you get your own space and peace. There were two minuses; playground was very old and it was surrounded by tape to show you shouldn't use it and there wasn't any soap or towels/hand paper on toilets so you have to bring them every time with you. The view is great and the place for swimming is very nice extra!!
in winter time, it is extremely harsh to walk 700m to the main road, and 2 km to town centre. driving is necessary. but a very good place to observe northern light, it is very far away from any light pollution
We stayed one night in the cottage before the fly back, the lady at the reception was very nice and the room was comfy but we didn’t have a bottle opener nor a hair dryer into the room. You can easily hear the neighbors next door so just lets hope they’re not to noisy! Otherwise it was clean and convenient because close from the airport !
When we planned our trip we wanted to have a small, cheap stay close to the airport before heading further south on the next day. We found this with the Naverniemi Holiday Center. Henri and Päivi are fantastic hosts! While Henri organised a Husky Safari for us before the trip (which was fantastic!) Päivi took care of most things in the hotel. She was super-kind, friendly and always up for a talk. The room itself was tidy and there was a small radiator providing all the heat for the small cabin. In the morning the air in the cabin got a bit stuffy because we let it run overnight and you can't open a window at these temperatures (January). The showers were very small but had warm water. Wi-Fi speed was better than expected as well! When coming from Ivalo airport you can hop on the bus there (buses always leave when there's a plane coming) and tell the bus driver to drop you off at the road before the Holiday Center. You will have to walk for about 1000 metres (according to google maps) to find the reception. I would not recommend this place for a longer vacation but if you're traveling on a budget and/or need a hotel for one night I will recommend a stay!…
My husband and I went to Ivalo in hope of seeing the Northern Lights and we saw this amazing phenomenon the first night! The lady was so kind to come knock on our door, so we dressed quickly and jumped up and Aurora Borealis was all over the sky! We were so lucky to see it both overhead and on the horizon. It moved much quicker than we thought and went away after approx. 15 minutes... the best things about this holiday center is that you really don’t need to travel far to see the northern lights; if the sky is clear and the solar activity is high, you have a pretty good chance of simply walking out of your Cabin and seeing it all over the sky! The lady from the holiday center is extremely nice and make sure you eat at least one night there, you need to tell her the night before so she has time to prepare; she made an amazing mushroom soup, great salmon and nice dessert for us. The rooms are basic but clean... there’s good wifi in the rooms and you can also book te private sauna. It is only 10 minutes drive from the airport and the prices are really affordable. Husky safari and reindeer safari are highly recommended activities; although we booked ourselves directly and paid less. Overall highly recommended place to stay!…
