I just thought that I would write to thank you for such a lovely stay at your campsite and for all your hospitality! We were a group of 8 open canoeists from the UK who used Ivalo as a base at the start and the end of our trip. It had everything that we needed - lovely cosy cabins, spotless kitchen and shower facilities - beer and food on tap and at the end of our trip a great sauna plus a dip in the river. Thanks also for sorting all our luggage! So thank you for such a great stay and hope we might be able to come back in the winter! Highly recommended for such a great location.

I loved my stay here! The facilities are simple, clean, and everything you need. You can be very comfortable while still getting the experience of being out in nature. My cabin was also positioned where I could step right outside and see the Northern lights!
Additionally, I felt very welcomed by the staff, who all were keen to tell me to please ask for anything I should want or need. Everyone was very friendly and I never worried about being a bother.
I was able to borrow a bike from the reception and cycle all around the area. It was so much fun going hiking and also biking up and down along the river and into town. The scenery is amazing. You can also hear huskies barking from time to time :)
This property is very accessible by bus and is a 5 minute drive from Ivalo airport (I actually walked). I would absolutely recommend this property and if I return to Ivalo I would love to stay here again.

My experience at Ivalo was just awesome and Ivalo River Camping made just great.
It was very exciting being here in winter season and I was lucky enough to witness some Aurora lights just on the frozen lake in front of camping site.
Thanks to Mr Mathie, he was just another nice person to have a good conversation and he is very friendly.
The whole camping site made and maintained very clean and at-most care towards guests. Out of my whole Europe trip, Ivalo is cherry on the cake. And my stay is made this more memorable and enjoyed all my time at this camping site.
My special Thanks for a wonderful Salman soup, I still remember the flavourful and yummy soup with some bread.
Overall, a nice place to stay, and specially if you’re visiting for a picnic,I’m sure you’ll enjoy more than me.
I’d love to come back to Ivalo and hope I’ll say Hi again to Mr Mathie.
Thanks for a wonderful stay :) I loved it 😎

An amazing experience in the heart of Lapland! The location is near a glaced river (during the winter) and the bungalows are into the forest for an incredible glance! A very kind staff and a nice organization with safaris.

This place offers relatively cheap cabins, also during the winter months. Since the local hotel was fully booked, I decided to stay at Ivalo River Camping for two nights. The cabins are quite small, but that's ok for the price. The kitchen in the service building is quite spacious, in contrast to the toilets (kind of these compartments you have to enter the correct way as turning is difficult...), the showers are acceptable. The water pressure is oscillating with a period of about 5-6s which turns out to be annoying when having a shower or washing your hands/dishes.
So far this could have been a really ok stay, considering 35 Eur/night, however the cabins turned out to be poorly insulated. When I arrived the temperature was -6C (267K) and dropped to a freezing -25C (248K) the next morning and stayed at -20C as a maximum for the day. In the course of the day the cabin temperature sank from +21C (294K) to 17C in the evening, despite having two electric heaters at full power operating 24/7. I complained, and was offered another cabin which might be warmer - maybe. I declined the offer since other guests told me their cabins were 'really cold' as well and 17C is nor a bad sleeping temperature (with more than one night to go I would have accepted the offer). With -25C through the night the thermometer read 13C the next day and my mobile phone battery temperature was reading a chilly 9C. With a constant flow of cold air into tje cabin the ground felt 7C cooler than the top of the building, easily explaining the different temperature readings. Luckily I had my sleeping bag with me, so using that one, I was aok. I just felt terribly sorry for the other guests...
Checking out I forwarded my temperature readings, was offered a compensation in form of a scarf from the souvenir shop and told the owner would come that day to deliver additional heaters for the cabins, as nobody expected that low temperatures. Still, the Norwegian weather forecast predicted -20/-22C in the night....
Summary:
During the summertime this is good value for the money. It might be ok in spring and autumn but be careful in winter and have your sleeping bag with you. There's the E75 directly next to the campground, as well as a fuel station. So if you have problems with noise, maybe search for another location.

We arrived in the late afternoon after a long drive. We were quite tired and looking forward to checking in to our cottage. When we arrived there the staff found out that they double booked that cottage. They found another cottage for us in the centre of the town but we had to drive there in 10 minutes because they were about to close. We thought this was quite strange because they could have waited for us for a couple minutes if we happened to be late. The apartment that we got instead was very nice but sadly there was no wifi. I would recommend to email the reception a day before arrival to make sure there aren't any double bookings. When I look at the other reviews it seems like it happeneds more often.

I have stayed at Ivalo River Camping several times over the years and it suits my needs perfectly. If you do not require a five star hotel experience, this is a great budget option in Ivalo. The new owners and staff are super friendly. The facilities are simple and that works for someone who only needs a warm place to sleep. The toilet and shower facilities are in a separate building with a kitchen and this is typical of a camping facility in Finland. There is also a restaurant on site.

Very economic camping. the staff is very pleasant and gives good advice. Breakfast at will excellent and friendly common room. I would just put a small negative point on the showers. there is no hot water if you go last. Opportunity to make beautiful walks in the forest behind the campsite and mini reindeer farm

I stayed in a small cabin. Basic equipment but fine for a short stay of one night. The camping is located right on the side of the road so you can hear the traffic from the cabin (but, yes, you are in north of Finnish Lapland, so no trafic jam...). Cleanness of the shared areas (showers, toilets, kitchen) is the weakest point according to me: this should be really improved (at least to a minimum). Also, for the camping area/cabins: very few toilets and showers.
But very nice staff!
I think price is quite fair for the services offered

Very clean rooms. I think it is more sweeping the floor and wiping down benches to create less work. There are not a lot of staff so it makes sense if guests can make less work.
Usually some buses are going from airports, try to look for them, also very usually is a taxi (around 20km it's okay)
