Hotelli Hetan Majatalo is a small, friendly, warm and happy family-run hotel in Enontekio, which is an excellent basecamp for exploring the Finnish Lapland fells (tunturi) area. This is how we used it as a small photography tour group with @Salamapaja. Tiina at reception was always attentive, conscientious and very helpful. The kitchen-dining space is warm, convivial and crowded, and you will always get a good Finnish meal here! The place has been run within the family for almost 100 years (centenary in 2024) and it feels like a real home. A few steps out the front will be a supermarket, cash machine and bus stops. Out the back (if it is dark enough) will be a surprisingly good sheltered spot for watching the northern lights dance above the treetops. Plenty to do here in winter or summer; Hetta Huskies next door, wilderness centre within walking distance, Jyppyraa campfire hut (kota) above and Ounasjaarvi Lake right below. Highly recommended, and like many people who stay here, you may also find yourself returning this as basecamp year after year!…
We were supposed to do only a stopover for one night on our way from Norway to Sweden. However we could not reach our hotel in Norway as the road was closed and there were no other hotels nearby in Norway. So we called this family hotel asking whether we can stay 2 nights instead of 1 but we will be arriving between 3am and 4am....They immediately said yes and saved us from having to sleep in our car that night! We cannot thank them enough! On top of that Hetta happened to be a gorgeous place with a beautiful forest where we snowshoed following the recommendations of the hotel staff. They also recommended a spot to watch the Northern Lights and we spotted them! The room was super cute and comfortable, we absolutely loved our stay at this family hotel! Thank you and we will definitely visit again!…
Stayed here through Transun UK Ltd and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very clean and warm. Rooms had everything and were warm and cosy. Had use of a Sauna. Food was fantastic especially the salmon. Tina was very helpful. The little souvenir shop was very resonable. Hotel is in a good location, only five min walk from the local supermarket. Would definitely stay here again
We stayed here on a 3 night transun trip in early December. We absolutely loved it, the hotel is lovely and Is in beautiful surroundings! The food was lovely, home cooked, warming and filling! The family work really hard at this hotel and it shows! It’s extremely relaxed and comfortable! We met a great group of people while staying! The hotel has a great spot at the back for seeing the northern lights and a great area nearby for sledging! I’m sad to be home and will definitely return!
This is a nice hotel, nothing luxurious, but friendly and cosy. The room was very spacious, and had a nice view to the garden. There was a sauna, and a nice breakfast buffet. Staff was friendly. Good location.
You can choose between more simple rooms with shared sanitary premises or a spacious room with own shower and toilet like we did. It was in the main building. There is no air conditioning but you can have the window open as there is protection against mosquitos. Though what is missing is something to make the room a bit more darker for the night - now its so light during the summer that one could have problems to sleep. Staff is extremely friendly - beds and cleanliness top. Breakfast very tasty with a great variety of dishes. Price-Quality ratio excellent. We come again. Family owned place where the couple who is running the business is every day in daily service.
Spend a night in a simple room (2 beds, chair, table, windows big enough to let some air in) in the old annex building with charming interior. Toilet down the hall, shower in separate building. Very nice atmosphere, good breakfast buffet, very friendly staff.
We did stay for 2 nights before the hike in this hotel, it is nice small clean hotel and i guess family owned. Something to be considered before booking here: - Rooms are clean but not to good sound insulated, if neighbour snoring you might notice that. - There is no restaurant, only breakfast is served - Quite narrow menu for gluten free diet!!! - Shampoo & soap had a really weird / not pleasant smell! This is homelike hotel accommodation, but it is not cheap, actually i think it was quite expensive, compare to big chain hotels, but i guess the have their expenses! Staff was really nice.
this is such a lovely place to stay ! The owners are very kind and helpful. The food offered for breakfast and dinner is really good and you have quite a selection to choose from, In the main entrance several board and card games are available to make the evenings more entertaining If you are up there - stay in this nice little hotel!
To stay at Hotel Majatalo in Hetta (Enontekiö Finland) feels a little bit like staying at friends. The hotel has a cosy, familiar atmosphere, very friendly and helpful persons, delicious homemade food and immaculately beautiful hotel rooms.
