Liked the scenic view from the window. There was no breakfast included in the price in May but at the room I found beverages; quick porridge, snack bars, tea & coffee & hot chocolate and 2 of their own brewery's beers in the fridge! Was a bit suspicious about the squeaky beds but I slept well. No noise but it was a week day and off season. Good location to visit market square and the castle Olavinlinna. Had to pick up the key from Bistro Waahto near market square.
Went to this quaint little restaurant in Savonlinna, and to great surprise it had an amazing brewery inside called Waahto. fresh beers on tap, and you can purchase direct from the brewery for takeaway, also guided tours are available at cost. Amazing food and excellent house brewed craft beers.
There are only two guest rooms, and they are located in the second floor of an old wooden villa serving as a restaurant with its own little beer brewery. There was no reception nor welcoming. We were cashed in the restaurant bar by one of the waiters, who then showed us to our room. The location is beautiful, by lake Saimaa and by a park, only 5-10 minutes walk from the town center. You reach the rooms from the back of the house, pass the kitchen's back door and climbing quite steep wooden steps. The rooms are standard small B&B rooms. The breakfast was included and also as standard as it gets. It was served some 100 metres away in another summer hotel. Normally the room would cost 80 euros, but due to the Savonlinna Opera Festival taking place, the prices go up. Not worth of the 125 euros that we paid.…
Super tasty homemade beer with wonderful smell. Menu is short, but value the high class restaurant. Bread, soup, appetizer was nicely decorated and had also wonderful taste. Atmosphere is very calm and silent, with lake view.
We stayed here in early july for one night. The hotel used to be a mental hospital a few decades ago. You have a selection of two rooms and the one we had was a bit run down. It reminded us the times of childhood when sleeping in the attic of grandma´s old house, with the smell of an old house. Breakfast was great and we´d like to give 5 points for breakfast and two and a half for the room.
This fantastic B&B/restaurant and brewery has only two room for rent. The rooms are cosy, clean and have good beds to sleep in. And it´s quiet. A few seagulls made a little noice, but hey, Huvila is located by a lake, 10 meters from the water. On the other side of the lake you can see the Savonlinna town center, the marketplace and the towers of Olavinlinna, the old castle. Fantastic location. The restaurant is beautiful, Finnish villa -style. And the food was seriously good.. lamb served in two ways. Very delicious. And the beer - yammie! Well, they have their own brewery, a good brewery. And the staff is very nice. In a Finnish point of view the rent of the room per night is quite affordable, on a regular weekend 85 € and on a high season 125. Other option was a hotel, 200€ and then some. I think the night there with my relative was money well spent. I will definitely stay there another time.…
We stayed a couple of nights in this B&B/ restaurant/ brewery and it was so nice. The owners are really friendly and lovely, the rooms are clean and light, and the brewery & restaurant are great. We splashed out on a meal at the restaurant one night and it was beautiful. Definitely more gourmet than our usual sort of place, but worth paying a bit extra for such nice food and dining experience. This place is Finnish simplicity and hospitality at its best. The location is fantastic- right on the lake shore and a short stroll from the centre of the town & castle. I would strongly recommend Savonlinna as a great place to stop for a couple of days, and also to stay at this B&B. It might seem a bit expensive at first, but remember this is Finland- you need to be prepared to pay a bit more than you might usually at home and compared to other places I stayed at/ ate at over the course of a three week visit I would say it reasonable value.…
We stayed two nights at the Huvila B&B in June 2013. We had a wonderful stay in a cosy room which had all we needed plus a lovely breakfast, continental style, with delicious Finnish rye breads, hams, cheeses, yogurts, juice and coffee. On one of the nights we dined in the restaurant downstairs having the local veal which was a real treat. As other reviews have noted the staff are extremely helpful at recommending drinks to go with the meals and the menu had clearly been designed with the on-site brewed ales and porters in mind. They complemented each other perfectly. We met Jussi, the landlord, on our first evening - he really made our stay in Savonlinna special by recommending activities and giving us a tour of his brewery. We felt extremely well looked after and would definitely recommend Panimoravintola Huvila, Savonlinna to anyone looking for somewhere friendly and unique to stay when travelling in the Finnish lakelands.…
