We stayed in a house for six persons in June 2014. The house was quite old, so the furnishing are quite worn. The house also felt a bit damp to begin with, but warmed up when we turned up the heat. We had three bedrooms, a kitchen/livingroom, two bathrooms and a sauna, so the house was quite big. We paid a low season price of 135 euros per night, for that price it was a good budget alternative to staying at a hotel. The surroundings are beautiful and it was very quiet at the time (since the holiday season hadn't properly started). We had booked a baby cot, but had to ask for it again after checking in. The reception wasn't open all the time off-season, so be prepared to use your mobile phone to get hold of staff.
If you don't expect luxury and you get a good price, this is a good option.

We stayed two nights in Visulahti camping site with a camper van. All the camper sites are on grass field with variating elevation and angle. If it's raining it is very easy to get stuck with a heavy camper.
All the services are available in the area but they in some points they tend to show signs of agings and some renovation would be in place. There are enough showers and toilets and they were clean enough. Public sauna is open only in the morning while I was hoping for the evening time. Private sauna booking is possible for 30€ per hour. Very nice surprise was a swimming beach for dogs next to the swimming beach.
There's plenty of enterntainment for kids but our 10 and 12 years old boys found the activities more suitable for few years younger kids. Entry to the water park, wax museum and indoors playground is with the same fee. Quadbike riding, paintball fighting and other "extreme activities" need extra payment and we considered them too expensive for our budget.
The distance to Mikkeli center is about 4,5 kilometers and there's a good cycle path all the way. Closest supermarket is about 2 kilometers away.
Overall the stay in Visulahti was easy but price was bit too high

We camped here for two nights. There was a big grass field where we could choose our place to set the camp with not too many shady places to choose from.
The service house is in need of refreshing. The toilets were small and not so fresh, as were the shower booths, you could see black mould spots on the shower floor, not so nice. The whole service house was poorly cleaned, there were spider webs everywhere and lot of dead bugs on the sink counter. Not all the lights in the ceiling were working so it was quite dark in the evening.
The barbeque building close to the water had only a few logs available, and they all were wet. Some people went to the other bbq-cottage to fetch some dry wood to get the fire going.
The place is heavily overpriced, especially when I compare to the camping we were staying at night before, total five stars with a lower price... Good thing was the proximity to Mikkeli town and the house fair.

It is a huge campsite (tent, caravans, cottages) next to an amusement park. Half of the area for tents is on slope and the whole area was (during our stay) covered with freshly mowed grass which was just left there. In combination with wet weather we had grass stuck to everything (however reception staff was interested in our comments and promised to get this solved in future). Nicely made but old kitchens weren't completely clean and the showers weren't much better. There was no wifi. On the other hand a beach is part of the campsite and it was cheap (actually cheaper than we expected from the website - may be some mistake). You can also borrow few mini games from the reception (such as minigolf). During our stay, the amusement park was already closed (the season was over for them), hence, I don't know if there would be noise from it but it is just a few meters from the tenting area...
