Uusikuu is an unmanned hotel. You access your room with a pin-code you get when reserving/paying. There are no services, that is part of the deal. Reservation staff was friendly, rooms clean, shower drainage not so effective so the toilet floor got flushed. But basically - you get what you pay for, this is a no-promises alternative so no complaints. It is a bitt off centre so you need a car.

Basic but sufficient, this low cost operated, not visibly staffed hotel was a new experience to us: no staff around, just a code access that allows you into your room, ...if codes are sent previously. The overall impression is outstanding, and considering the low price, is even better. This hotel gives you an inexpensive opportunity to explore surrounding areas on radial day trips like Savonnlina.

A little bleak on an external close inspection: exposed concrete building and outdoors corridors as if in a Motel 6 . Some of the customers, idly smoking in the outdoor halls, enhance this gloomy panorama, being some of them low cost travellers, just like us. But don't let this disappoint you in any way.The rooms are spacious and offer a medium size fridge and microwave, plus reasonable amenities such as free wifi and hair drier. Trey are reasonable clean and quality of sleep is good.

We arrived around 10 pm and nobody was around the premises to let you know how to get the room code access: none of the phone numbers shown were responsive and, as in a tragicomedy, he could overhear the phones ringing inside the deserted dark offices. Had it not been by the phone assistance of Nancy (of Booking international helpdesk) we'd be still there being assaulted by mosquitoes, waiting four our codes. Well, thanks too to the anonymous Russian customer who told us who to open the small office where they have a computer and more Phone numbers to try and get some help.

It's a pity that Booking had not answered our three previous emails (sent some weeks ahead) requesting they send us the code access. This is more flagrant as Nancy proved that they had them already: they simply ignored our request, pretending the email went to the spam folder, which I checked permanently. And even the hotel staff (that had charged us the total amount of our stay weeks ahead too) simply ignored the letter we sent them.

A little spooky if you considered for a moment what might happend in case of emergency but luckily this is Finland, not Rio.

Uusikuu is a hotel with no reception, breakfast or any other services requiring the presence of staff. You receive a door code after you have booked and paid and you are ready to go. The room was spacious, clean the place is really quiet, windows facing beautiful pine forest. The city centre is just about 1,5 km walk away. Considering the cheap price for the room, this is really good value for money.

Discusting and outdated rooms. All the places are really really dirty. You don't feel like sitting on the chairs or sofa because they are full of stains. Tv remote is the dirtiest and stickyest ever. Feels terrible to go to sleep to those beds. No adjustable aircon. Really bad, stinky rooms. This must be the worst hostel in the city. They use word hotel but this is hostel. Cannot recommend this experience. Location far from the center.

The hotel is okay, our room was clean and with enough space for four persons. The price is very good, much cheaper than other nearby options. The place is little outside city center, but it is walkable. Also great, that the parking is free.

We are frequent guests in this clean and comfortable hotel with a private free parking place. This hotel works without reception, sending an entry code by e-mail or sms Our room was clean, quiet and spacious , with the view to the forest. As usually our stay was pleasant. We had a micro and fridge in the room and tea and cofee facilities with complimentarey tea and cofee.Sometimes we used to go to have a breakfast just across the street to the cafe of some educational centre. The city centre is not far from the hotel-about 5 minutes by car. Wi-Fi was quick as always(cable internet is also available)I highly recommend this hotel for the visit of any purpose because of it's good value price and quality...

I had high hopes, when I booked Hotel Uusikuu. The hotel was supposed to be well equipped and clean. In any other aspect it was OK, but I found the room to be somewhat unclean. The carpet in the small hall was covered with dust, soil and dirt, so it wasn´t possible to enter the bathroom without putting shoes on. There was toohpaste on the shelf in the bathroom and there were suspicious stains on the sofa-bed. These are problems, that could be sorted out quite easily. My stay would my stay have been more pleasant, If thorough cleaning had been seen to. There is enough space for a small family and that´s a bonus. The information I received by email in advance was informative and inclusive. Apparently rather reasonable price makes this place particularly appealing to foreign builders and other working men. Note: Hotel Uusikuu is within walking distance from the high street.

I did not receive a confirmation (by email) when booking through the hotel website, but got a prompt reply by email asking for the door code etc. The hotel was also able to provide a baby cot free of charge. There is free parking outside the hotel. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, within a walking distance from the city centre. Unfortunately some of the other guests were quite noisy and this is a problem when there is no reception at the hotel. The other guests did not make enough noise for us to call security, but perhaps an onsite reception could have told them to be quiet?

The room was large and clean. The room has a refridgerator, microwave and kettle with complimentary coffee/tea. The internet connection requires a cable, so no wifi available.

All in all, a good budget option. Would definitely consider this hotel again.

We reserved a room in this hotel for two nights, as part of a visit to Finland's Lake District.

All the reservation well in advance by the internet (Booking.com), and we expected to get the code for entering the room by email. However, we did not receive the code by morning of check in on saturday . We tried to contact the hotel by phone and email, only to get a reply that there customer service does not work on weekends. Only after calling Booking.com's service (an international call, as Skype disconnected after about a minute) did we receive the room number and door code.

Arriving at the hotel we found that our room was on the third floor, with no elevator.

On the other hand - the room itself was spacious, with enough room for all four of us. It was well equipped - with a refrigerator, microwave oven, electric kettle, hairdryer and enough power outlets for all our gadgets. The window faced a forest. There is no air conditioning, and the shower was heated even in the warm (~25C) summer.

As to location - the town of Mikkeli has no attractions, but it is a good base for travelling to interesting places in the region. The hotel is on the outskirts of the town, with a large parking lot. City center and shopping centers can be reached within a 10 minutes drive.

Понравилось все, кроме отсутствия завтрака или буфета. Но в таком отеле это и невозможно. Выручает кафе напротив.За отелем лес с рекой (а река с рыбой), перед - кампус университета. Заезд и выезд в любое время главный плюс. (Liked everything except for the lack of Breakfast or buffet. But in this hotel it is impossible. Rescues cafe across the street. Behind the hotel is a forest with a river and the river with fish, in front of the campus of the University. Check-in and check-out any time a major plus.)
