Did not manage to visit the place at all as our phone reservation was not registered by the owner. When we called that we are soon coming - as requested by the owner when we did the reservation - he responded by yelling and swearing, eventually hanging up. Can’t recommend the place, we got possibly the worst service which I have ever received anywhere.

This is a really nice, well equipped guesthouse. The rooms have large beds with TV, microwave, minifridge, coffeemaker and there is also a communal kitchen. The shared bathrooms are large. It is in a nice quiet residential area close to a supermarket and 15 min or so walk into the town centre.

This is a great cost-effective alternative to other accomodations in Mikkeli. It requires a bit more time to walk to the center, but for me it wasn't a problem at all. The room is spacious and neat. Everything you need is there. The hosts are very nice and friendly. I definitely recommend!

I have been accommodating here every month over the past year, and I can recommend this place as a very good value for money. The owners are friendly, the place is clean enough and you have your own microwave, fridge, waterheater and tv. If you are looking for a casual place to stay, this might be your choise. You'll get your own key and can come and go as you wish. They have some double rooms with twin beds and some singles, also a bigger appartment with a kitchen for groups (accommodates 4). Smoking outside in the garden, shared showers and toilet in most of the rooms. There are a small shop and a cafe nearby, also the campus area to get some budget, but supebly good food! This place is a popular spot for students and both them and the overnight workmen might keep you up while drinking beer...but usually they will get quiet after 23.00. The only minus is the distance from city centre (20-30min walk) but on the other hand, you will be staying in the normal Finnish living area (small wooden houses), where you can get wonderful opportunities to walk outdoors in the nature.

Mikkeli Gasthaus is about half the price of the hotels in the city (we paid only 45 euros for a 2 person room, but we had a shared bathroom.) and worth every penny. The hotel has 9 rooms and is located a mile from the city center in a very calm area. There is a free internet and if you don't have your own laptop, there's also a computer for guest use in the lobby (for no charge). There's no real breakfast included, but there is a good kitchen in guest use and a big grocery store nearby. Also coffee, tee and some cereals are provided by the house. There's two bathrooms which are very roomy. The other one has a bubble bath for guest use, but we didn't try it out. I understood that they also have couple of rooms with own bathrooms, but we had no problems with the shared baths as they were very tidy. The desk was very welcoming and friendly. We were traveling with a guide-dog and everything went very smoothly. There were also very nice walking routes around the place and free parking behind the house.
