Recently renovated and modern hotel located right in the centre of Kuopio beside the beautiful lake of Kallavesi, making it an excellent starting point for seeing the sights of the city. The Kuopio passenger harbour and beach are located right next to our hotel, and you can find the best souvenirs from the Kuopio market place. Hotel has good Scandinavian restaurant and 8 flexible and spacious meeting rooms up to 400 persons.

Upraded rooms with air-conditioning. The hotel is located in a building from the 70's and it seems they have done a partitial renovation. Some things seem older than others. All the basics work well, nothing special to mention. The hotel is located in a beautiful location by the lake Kallavesi, but the scenery is sadly totally lost, you really see it only from the staircase (or room, if it has lake-view). There is a terrace on the lake-side, but no service there. Hotel's pool was being renovated, so we couldn't try it. Breakfast was ok, I've had better breakfast in other Scandic hotels. Item labels were misplaced and many items (for example smoothie) had way too much sugar in them.

A very nice weekend stay. We traveled with a 4+ month old baby so we chose a superior room which had a minibar (for storing formula) and an electric kettle (with complimentary tea, coffee and cocoa). There was enough space in the room for a travel cot but the hotel also provides baby cribs if you need one. Also the double bed was HUGE so it's also possible to have the baby sleep in the same bed. The room had a bath tub which we adults appreciated greatly after we put the baby to sleep for the night. Few things are more relaxing than a warm bath. Everything was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was great with plenty of options. Compliments for the beetroot vegetarian balls which were a great improvement to the usual Scandic offering of super dry falafel as a vegetarian option. The hotel lobby has a small shop which was handy for us late in the evening when we wanted something to snack on. Location of the hotel is also great, in a quiet area but within walking distance of the market square. Free maps available in the lobby. Parking was free with two parking lots, on both sides of the hotel. Limited parking space though, so keep that in mind during busy weekends.

We had a standard room, window facing to Satamakatu. Room was ok, thiugh for bigger persons the swower might be a bit small. Beds ok, though small pillows. Only the parquet floorings shows some signs of worn out. Breakfast was very tasty and all arrangements to avoid Corona infections were very good. The check out procedure in the internet is easy one - points for that.

Only positive experience was when I checked-in in the evening. I do not understand why I do need to complete form with signature as I have given all information on website when I did the reservation. In the morning, there was no staff in the breakfast room. Nobody was saying “good morning” or collecting dirty plates etc. Breakfast itself was good. When I went to return the key, there was nobody behind the desk. I needed to wait for a while when somebody came but she did not apology that I needed to wait. Luckily for me, I paid in the evening, so that I just turned and left. She said something behind me but I did not listen. For sure, I do not go back to this hotel as there are other hotels in Kuopio and staff of those hotels respect customers.

Location of this hotel at Satamakatu 1 in Kuopio is excellent and beautiful. And it was very easy to reach by car. No parking payments for those who overnight in hotel. Later I could choose many ways to take a short walk to the city center. The room was better than I expected, based on the Pori Scandic hotel. There also is a narrow non furnished balcony with view to Kallavesi lake. Nothing is missing in this room, all is as it should be in 4 stars hotel. The room was very comfortable but I must say, not cosy. The colours! Cold gray walls, dark gray door, cold gray furniture and the floor, light cracked birch parquet. For business travelers the hotel room is excellent for creating a cool atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent, but, not a single member of staff was visible throughout the hour in the morning from 7-8 am. The tables were full of dirty used utensils that the hotel customers themselves cleaned elsewhere to get table space. This is where the star left in the review. Isn't it intended that guests act as cleaners in a 4-star hotel?

I was on a work trip in Kuopio. First I had booked a room from another hotel. Since the only morning flight arrives to Kuopio 8 am, I was willing to have room earlier than 3 pm, that is the normal time of delivery of the room. Th hotel I had booked the room before was taking 60 euros fee from early in check, but Scandic Kuopio's answer was, that they are going to do their best and if room not available, there is a lot of free space around the hotel to be able to work in peace. I arrived about 8:30 am and my room was not ready at that time but I really had good space to be able to start my work and meetings on my computer. And my room was ready around 10 o'clock. Only disappointment was the room. I payed extra fee to upgrade my room, but didn't notice anything superior. The floor was quite worn and bath room very basic with no anything extra. I am glad I had a bath tube. The gym of the hotel was nice and the breakfast was higher than normal and improved from my last visit a couple of years ago. Smoothies and fresh porridge were served. And all the staff of the hotel was very nice and friendly. Excellent service! Thank you

This is the most ideally located hotel in Kuopio. All relevant services and sightseeings of central city are near, and the lakeview from the upper floor is fantastic. Some of the facilities should be mended, but the atmospheare is friendly, and the service is excellent. I highly recommend booking a upper floor room if you want to experience the beautiful lakeview in it's full glory. Overall I give this experience 4 out of 5 points.

This hotel has a beautiful location by Lake Kallavesi. There is a short walk to the city center.
We had asked for a Junior Suite with a balcony and got it from the top 5th floor. There are four Juniors Suites. Two with a balcony on floors 2 and 5.
The floor plan is the same in every suite. The connecting doors between the living room and bedroom could be removed. Without them, the suite would have felt even more spacious.
There were two bathrooms and a separate toilet. One bathroom with a shower and one had both shower and separate bathtub and a sauna.
The balcony is quite narrow and unfurnished. However, the dining table chairs were so small to be fitted to the balcony.
The hotel was fully booked. The breakfast buffet was busy but it was easy to find a clean table.
Our stay had excellent value for 156 euros.

Excellent and friendly service. Our son really loved the in-door swimming pool and we parents appreciated the hotel restaurant from which it was possible to order top-quality dinner also to the hotel room. The hotel locates next to the best beach of the city, so when sunny, we started our day with a morning swim in the lake.

Our family of 4 stayed in a family room / Junior suite and it suited our needs very well. Own sauna was nice extra, especially on cold autumn days. Breakfast was good. Hotel sauna looked like brand new and was nicely done. One thing to improve would be the pool area which was a bit worn out and untidy. Kids loved the place though and the location is superb any time of the year.
