Located at Puijonlaakso, a few kilometers from city center, bus stop is front of the hotel. Free parking and wifi. We stayed at economy room, own bathroom, no aircon or fridge. The room might be quite hot at summer. The reception is at third floor, the hotel is now days little bit rambling. Buffet style breakfast was served at the basement.
All the major hotels in Kuopio were fully booked and had to take a room away from the city centre. The best part of the experience was definitely the helpful and kind service personnel in the reception. This evening it was staffed by a local student and he’ll go far with that attitude. The hotel is situated about 10 min from the railway station, and the entrance can be a little tricky if you don’t follow the signs. It’s a bit old and maybe worn out, but the room itself was spotless with crisp clean linen. All the basic necessities were in the room. On the negative we can find the lack of a restaurant for the evening, but the nearby shopping centre provides for this loss. The breakfast room was quaint and very well stocked with fresh ingredients. All in all I had a pleasant stay. Value for money which is why I rate this as 4/5…
That once was a large, middle class hotel. Now it's reduced to one floor (3rg floor). An independent restaurant resides in the first floor. There is no reception, only a small room in 3rd floor, most of the time not occupied. The breakfast is served in a bunker-like cellar. It's buffet also has been reduced. The room, I had, was large and spacious, but understanding the electrical wiring needs a technician. The tube in the bathroom needs a ladder to enter. Your privacy is obeyed closely. No personal has entered my room in the three days of my stay.
The hotel is not central but has a nice location for cross-country skiing, good bus connection to the centre, and supermarkets and a fast-food place just outside the door. The rooms are functional and fine. The breakfast is basic but ok. So far so good. The problem is that the wifi is from the previous century. Not even news-sites will load reliably under a minute, forgot checking FB. Moreover, the room service did not enter our room and we had to go to the reception to get new toilet paper.
This hotel is located in a quiet area. There is a really big car park next to it. My room was comfortable and spacious. The bathroom had a large shower cubicle and room to put things down by the sink. All very clean. The breakfast area was spacious and quiet. The food was kept well topped up and there was a reasonable selection. The two people I spoke to on reception were both very nice and they made me feel very welcome.
Very friendly staff but the hotel needs renovation. Furniture are dirty, no mini bar in the room. Quite far from city center but peaceful surroundings. Free parking. A small grocery store and pizzeria nearby.
I spend the weekend here with my family. Peaceful place and good location. Short to the downtown and for example to Puijo. Hotel clerk were friendly and helpful. Room were a big enough for 4 people. Haven't seen that kind of extra bed solution in the hotels before. In the cruises yes. It works! Breakfast was a good basic breakfast. Nothing special in it. A bit old fashioned hotel but good quality for money.
In fact I would have wanted to give the hotel even better points as it was a perfect choice for me, but I know that some more demandig travellers would like to go for something more "upmarket". Yes, the hotel is a bit outside the city center and yes, the hotel is not that fancy, but the service was good and it's clean and well maintained although the hotel doesn't look appealing from the outside. The rooms are simply furnished, but have what you need for a short city break; comfortable beds, good shower, hair-dryer and Flat-TV. No mini-bar and I didn't see a safe in the room, but I'm sure you can leave your valuables at the front desk as one used to do in earlier days. The breakfast was good, but nothing overwhelming. The hotel runs as a school, for waiters and chefs, so there's plenty of people taking care of you. It's a two km walk to the city center, but there's local busses or you can borrow (or rent?) a bike at the reception.…
nice and clean hotel. breakfast was good. OK value for money. Parking was free. Note that the hotel is qiute far from the center of Kuopio so definately car is necessary. nerby there is small shopping mall for food etc
This is a low-cost hotel in Puijonlaakso-area, in Kuopio. The building is from - should I say - 1970's,butit has been well maintained and is functional. The rooms are spacious and clean, not according to the latest decoration style, but still good. I got there late in the evening, butI was able to enjoy a light dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast was delicious. Finally I have to say that the service at the front desk was very good and friendly.
