Lapland Hotels is a private hotel chain from Lapland. Nowadays they have some hotels in Southern Finland and Central Finland, too. We stayed two nights in Lapland Hotel Kuopio. Previously it was known as Cumulus Kuopio but they opened it as Lapland Hotel Kuopio in the summer 2019. Before opening it was renovated. The hotel is situated in the city center of Kuopio, almost next to the railway station, 600 meters from the marketplace and two kilometers from Puijo Observation Tower. The hotel has parking places (10 euros/night), garage places (15 euros/night), a charging station for electric cars and a disabled parking.
The hotel is very stylish and cozy with decorations from Lapland, e.g. reindeer horns, candles and Pentik dishware. They even have soap, shower gel and shampoo, which include young pine needles, resin and wood scents.
Our family stayed in two standard rooms. Rooms are extremely cozy and stylish except bathrooms. We had high and comfortable beds. Out TV screen was very big. Heating and air-conditioning were self-adjustable but they didn't work very efficiently. One room was too hot and another too cold when we arrived. It took very long until the system adjusted room temperature as we wished. Bathrooms are the weak link of this hotel. Bathrooms are quite small and old, at least in standard rooms. Besides, they could be cleaned better. There were tracks of calcareous water on walls and faucets. There was some traffic noise in our rooms but that didn't disturb our sleep quality.
Breakfast is the best part of this hotel. It is very surprising and extremely delicious. Breakfast includes very many specialties from Lapland, e.g. Lappish cheese with cloudberry jam, reindeer blood sausage with lingonberry jam, spruce sprout fruitie, Lappish honey, spruce sprout powder, lingonberry powder and spruce sprout buns. A cook makes omelettes as you wish. Besides, the breakfast room is extremely cozy and atmospheric. It was very beautiful there and service was very kind and polite as in the reception, too. We loved this hotel!

Fantastic hotel near to the town centre. It has secure parking for motorcycles which is very important for us. The hotel has a bar and restaurant and very helpful staff. The rooms are well appointed with triple glazing to block out noise. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

Nothing to complain about here. A well-run city hotel with cordial staff, and with facilities that tick most boxes. Others have noticed the building itself is a bit dull, but the Lappish/Sámi décor inside makes up for those shortcomings, and the general ambience is warm and welcoming.
Room (Northern Deluxe) was on the top floor, well appointed, elegant, with excellent bedside lighting, large comfortable bed and reasonable A/C, and a window that opened, at least an inch or two. The bathroom did not quite live up to the Lapland theme, but was in all other respects perfectly adequate, was admirably well-lit, had a nice magnifying mirror, and the Arctic Pine toiletries were pleasant. The management reported that they are in the process of gradually refurbishing the bathrooms so that they will more closely match the hotel’s “look”.
This was just a short staycation, but the lack of closet space might annoy someone spending longer here. We didn’t explore the TV much – not sure if it would be possible to hook up a laptop or Chromecast and run one’s own Netflix or similar on it.
Check-in and checkout smooth, and the breakfast was splendid, with all the usual suspects and a few more exotic items on offer. A chef was on hand to make omelettes to order. Cheerful staff. For travellers by car, there is secure indoor parking for a charge.
A separate review of the hotel's Gallá Kitchen and Bar (where we had dinner) will follow.
All in all, I’d have no hesitation in recommending this place and we’ll be back next time we’re passing through.

Room Tip:Not 100% sure, but it seems the Deluxe rooms are on the top floor.

We had heard good things about the Lapland hotel in Helsinki and were expecting something better than your average Sokos. What a disappointment this was! It’s an old Cumulus which has been lightly refurbished using minimum amount of money. The rooms are crampy and have only been shown a little paint brush and some cheap new furniture. Tile holes in the bathroom have been covered using a big sheet of hard plastic, old fossets have been changed but the shower heads are old. And they haven’t even bothered changing the old discolored smoke detectors. We paid 209 € for one night which should have been max 70.
They have 2 EV chargers outside but the receptionist said you need to drive away after your battery is full. So this was completely useless for me. To charge your car at the hotel, you can’t have wine for dinner because you need to wake up at midnight and move your car. And because all other parking space is full, you’d need to find a parking space in the streets. So I had to find a fast charger in the morning to continue our journey. Everything here is done cheap and the only point is to drain last bucks from your credit card without any level of service.
Breakfast was ok.
I am never stepping into another Lapland Hotels location again.

Stayed for one night with 3 kids just before New Years. We got two rooms (with double beds) that were connected so that was super smooth. Staff at reception was really welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was awesome. We arrived really late but got parking spot just outside the door.

A bit of a mixed bag with functions ranging from excellent to average, all in all a good hotel still. Review based on a one night stay in June (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe).
Location: Good location, right next to the railway station and just a short walk from the main city square. Also accessing the highway with car is easy.
Few bars in the immediate neighborhood but plenty of options to eat, drink or shop within walking distance.
Room: We had the basic room in the 4th floor, it was completely renovated not too long ago and was spotlessly clean. The room big enough for two of us, décor was a kind of mix of modern, traditional and some Lapland theme thrown in.
The main letdown was sound insulation (or rather the lack of it) as one could hear almost everything that was happening in the room next door.
Etc: Check-in & out was friendly and efficient.
The breakfast was excellent, a lot of high-quality options to choose from. Also the restaurant dinner was very nice indeed.
Would I return there? Yes sure, even though it was not full five star experience as such it was still an enjoyable stay

I have to start by saying that staff is amazing. I have been traveling quite a lot and stayed in different hotels around the world- excellent customer service is something that you don't get by default these days and Lapland Hotels Kuopio stands out in their benefit with this one! 10/10 and only for that I would stay again, staff made me feel welcomed, valued and important. I'm originally from Lapland so I can say that restaurant's salmon soup and it's breakfast was spot on with Nordic flavors, strongly recommend eating at Gallá. Hotel itself was dark and moody which I personally liked, our room was decorated nicely and forest view from 6th floor was amazing, considering that we were right across the street from train station. Because I was traveling with a child I would have preferred to have a mini bar to keep some snacks in cold- so that was a minus, however, hotel lobby was open till 2am and you were able to buy snacks from there. Hotel in general was clean, also our room. Wish that room would have had a bath tub. For four star (4****) hotel I think Lapland Hotels Kuopio was excellent but the biggest factor for our experience was the staff. Thank you so much!

We had booked a night here with the intention of spending a final night of luxurious comfort on our lengthy road trip. It didn’t turn out that way. The building itself is characterless and not ideally situated. There was nothing wrong with the room itself, at least if you like the slightly tacky Lappish decor hundreds of kilometres away from the actual place. This was just after hotels were given permission to reopen after the pandemic had eased. But they were clearly too eager to make up for lost revenue. The breakfast (which was otherwise fine) was not planned to allow for safe social distancing, and everyone was obliged to use the small lifts as apparently there were no stairs. On top of which you had to pay extra for parking in the hotel-maintained spaces which were terribly tight. So not the luxurious final night we had planned.

Restaurant and staff 5 stars but the room and the hotel itself 1 star.
Food, breakfast and service in the the restaurant was great. Maybe the Lapland theme does not work all the way through but good enough. Staff was so friendly and helpfull everywhere.
I haven't slept this bad in a hotel for a while. Our room was in the 6th floor but stil extremely noisy. Traffic sounds were loud along to the night. Bed was good, all good with that.
And the room. I have to say that i would expect much more while paying almost 200 euros per night. It was very small old room with tiny bathroom, some new paint and antlers on the wall. Not nearly worth the money
Reason for this big dissappointment was that we have had only good experiences with Lapland hotels before this.
