Stayed there with two colleagues for 3 nights.
It's a short walk from the University, and walking to the city centre takes 15 to 30 min (depending on the pace). There's a small food store nearby.
Being there in December, we weren't very interested in outdoor facilities, but I suppose there're good opportunities in summer.
The cottages are new, with pretty much everything you might need over a short stay. Make sure you look into every drawer and closet - you might find some useful stuff (e.g. we spotted a hair-drier on the last day of our stay). The toilet, shower and sauna are all behind one door - not so convient for a varied group of people (all ladies), especially if you're pressed for time in the morning. There's one isolated room, a sofa in the kitchen/lounge, and three beds on the landing upstairs (the stairs are narrow and very inconvenient - don't climb them unless you feel fit). In addition to the appliances and utensils, the kitchen had vegetable oil, salt, coffee and even some cereals. You're required to clear the fridge, dispose of the garbage and return everything to where it'd been taken from before check-out.

I picked Holiday Linnunlahti because I wanted to have a spacious cabin type experience, yet I didn't want to be too far from the city. This was a perfect choice.
Actually, staying there felt like staying at home - not a hotel. The kitchen had everything you needed - glasses, plates, cutlery, frying pan etc.and there was a washing machine in the bathroom. Sauna was relaxing at night after exploring Joensuu. The beach is right next to the cabins and you can walk to downtown in 15 minutes.
Highly recommended!

The apartments are quite new and very clean, there is two large apartments in each house. There is plenty of space for a couple, the apartments can easily accomodate five or even more persons. The apartments are well equipped, with kitchen, sauna and LCD-tv, with some minor practical glitches such as missing kitchen utensils and awkwardly placed and too few electricity outlets.
Holiday Linnunlahti provides good value for the money, especially during off-season, if you don't mind making your on breakfast, as the services may be reduced. The location is great, just next to downtown Joensuu.

I had such a lovely time here. I stayed in Joensuu for a week in February, work related. I booked this lovely cottage in Holiday Linnunlathi and I was really sorry leaving it. The cottage was spacious, airy and warm and bright and very clean. There was an excellent kitchen with everything I could need, an open planned sitting room, a separate bed-room and an upstairs with three more beds. The bathroom has a Sauna attached which heated up really fast, and it was so nice to use it at night after work. There was also a small decking/veranda with table and chairs, bit it was minus twenty at night, so I chose not to sit outside. The walk to the City Centre was just 10 min or so, and next door you could go cross country skiing, ice skating and use a gym. The Concert hall was also in walking distance, I attended a really good concert there. Finally, the price was really reasonable and the people working there friendly, as everyone in Joensuu. My colleagues stayed in hotels in the town, and they were not even half as nice as this place.

A fairly priced set of attatched units, 2 to each small building.
Well equipped accomodations, with attatched working saunas.
Spacious sleeping quarters.
Refrigerator unclean, as was shower curtain. Heavy mildew/ bacterial odor to curtain.
Staff honest.
Some really rude, noisy guests, apparantly provincial Finns.
Wifi worked well most of stay, & was gratis.
All the local deciduous trees have changed colour.
Bring ample cold-weather clothing.

We arrived to camp without a booking. Receptionist polite and friendly and spoke excellent English which is always a relief. Camping facilities are among the best I've experienced anywhere with lovely grounds and good access to the town centre, cycle trails and walks. A fantastic place to stay!

I arrived late afternoon without a booking. The place was easy to find and the staff were friendly. I was clearly directed towards the tent pitches. The showers were good and the kitchen facility was great. As I only stayed one night I didn't try the laundry facilities, but there was a washer and a dryer available to use. There were several huts with fire pits available to use.
The beach is only a short walk away from the tent pitches and cabins. It was raining so not the best experience of the beach, but the water was nice and good to cool off after going for a run. The beach was clean and I imagine would be great in the sun.
It seems like a nice place to stay for a bit longer.

Quite new cottages nearby beach. Wide stairs to second floor. Big bathroom with washing machine and sauna. Diswasher is in the kitchen. Centre of Joensuu and shops are also within walking distance. I will go there again if I have to spend night at Joensuu.
