Joensuu was not our destination but a place to stop for the night on our self drive route. We had been paying an average of $200 USD a night at Finland hotels. What a pleasure to come across Greenstar hotel! About $100 with a nice room and free parking. Front desk staff was very nice and she recommended a great restaurant walking distance from the hotel. There was construction going on in the street so we asked for a quiet room in the back which was in reality very quiet. Highly recommend.

Good choice in the center city. Eco-style hotel. Good breakfast buffet (for an extra charge). Clean and tidy rooms. Rooms may be hot in the hot weather if they are facing south. No air conditioning. There was an electric kettle and a small refrigerator in the room. Parking for an extra charge.

The hotel's decent and I reckon it is considered cheap for Finnish standards. Rooms are clean (even though doors and bathroom would need maintenance), breakfast is decent and varied, location is in the city centre. So the hotel is a good option for travellers who wish mainly to have a decent place to sleep. This said, I have the feeling this green rhetoric is just a means of reducing waged staff to the minimum. Basically staff is available just until the afternoon, then everything is based on self-management and contactless. Wouldn't mind to have more human contact though.

The hotel is otherwise good: spacious room, friendly staff, good location, but the room is so hot that it is impossible to stay in the room during the day and we could only sleep couple of hours keeping the window open all night and two fans on. Receptionist was friendly to give us a bigger fan and an electric freezer bag to cool some drinks. The fridge in the room is a joke, that doesn't keep anything cool. Just uses power and warms up the room for nothing. I am sorry to be negative as I would like to enjoy this hotel but this made our two days of the holiday more stressfull than relaxing. Advice to the hotel: It is time to update the rooms with airconditioners. It must be awful also for the house keeping to clean rooms.

I visited a Greenstar the very first time in Joensuu. It obviously is a budget hotel concept. Breakfast not included in room price. The room was extremely hot. There was a water boiler in the room but no tea or coffee provided. The drain was noisy which I found peculiar for Finnish standard. I heard loudly when the neighbor used the shower.

Otherwise friendly staff and good location in city center. Next time I’ll go to Sokos Hotel.

Very nice experience overall, nothing to complain and everything worked out well. Stayed for one night, and took breakfast from the bakery next door. Nice extra was that you could get free coffee and tea from downstairs, also takeaway! 😍 And good location 👏🏼

Everything you need, nothing extra. Good location near Joensuu market and the Trade Hall.

Really spacious rooms, Clean and committed to green values.

At the beginning of May, it is also calm.

I would rope again.

Greenstar has got a perfect location for those who need to stay over night in Joensuu city center. The hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable enough for a one night short stay. Pricing is reasonable and you can also choose having breakfast for a couple of euros. Instead we chose having our breakfast at the market square, at Martta cafe´. They offer fantastic Karelian pies, a local specialty.
If you travel by own car the hotel has a good car park in the basement.

Staff is nice and friendly. Breacfast is average but ok. If travelling by car the booking of parking place is "a must" - next to the hotel there is no free parking at all. Rooms are tiny - good for two, but only bearable for three. I have asked for one double bed in booking invoice but was ignored and there were two beds. Rooms have no air-conditioning and you cannot open windows wide - can be stuffy. Hotel is situated in the very centre and next to all shopping places.

Greenstar hotel is very good located, rooms are nice, but if you want to get some rest be aware that you can hear everything out of the other room and also everything out of bathroom! I do not advise to pay for breakfast if you do not want to eat ham, salami, cheese and bread every day. They do not offer anything sweet for breakfast.
