Great location near metro stop and university with lots of inexpensive but charming neighborhood pubs, cafes and sushi restaurants. Small but clean rooms with modern baths. Quaint courtyard between two buildings. Excellent free breakfast including soft or hard-boiled eggs. Free coffee in lobby all day....More
Stayed at the Rex during a business trip to Stockholm. The rooms were tiny, even by European hotel standards. There were no ameneties or conveniences expected of a business hotel. The service was passive at best, and non-existent most of the stay. If I were...More
OK...here is the real scoop!!
This is a nice "boutique type" hotel a little north of the downtown area...about a 25 minute walk to Gamla Stan..the subway stop is ONE block away..easy to use and never waited more than 2 minutes for a train!!

Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s
actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
