Room was comfortable, shower was powerful and hot, beds were comfortable, and breakfast was a good selection. Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good location to explore Stockholm from (metro station round the corner), with some nice local restaurants within a 10 min walk.
The hotel remains excellent in terms of comfort, decor, facilities, service and of course, location. The new Tavernan is if anything even better than the Cafe Rival was. The unique interior design has aged well over the course of 20 years. The location is one of Stockholm's best - Sodermalm is less obviously upmarket than some other parts of Stockholm, but charming and stylish. It's worth exploring the island in its own right, as well as using it as a base to see the rest of the city. Many of the locations from the Stieg Larsson novels are set here e.g. Blomfeld's (fictional) apartment not far down the road. Breakfasts are justly renowned.
We had a lovely visit. The front desk staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful! They helped guide our day of exploration in Stockholm and secured us a late night dinner reservation. The breakfast was perfect. And the hotel was well situated for exploring Stockholm.
Oh my god, what an amazing stay at a wonderful hotel, staffed by the most amazing, helpful, wonderful people. I have visited Stockholm a couple of times previously and stayed at the Raddisson and the Sheraton and wow, have I been missing out. When we landed at Arlanda Airport we found out that my wife's bag didn't get loaded onto the plane at Heathrow and would be sent on at some point in the future, that left her with no waterproof or warm coat, the hotel duly came up with one for her, they also chased up both airports and BA to locate our missing bag and I believe, get it expedited quicker than we would have managed, it appeared within 48 hours! But the reception staff were all just so nice coming up with ideas of restaurants and bars to visit, things to do and see etc far more than we had time to fit in, hey ho, guess we will just have to revisit them. Breakfast was so tasty, fresh and with so much choice. The hotel bar area had a really nice vibe about it in the evening and was a really nice place to sit, have a drink and a chat and people watch. I really couldn't rate RIVAL anything other than 5/5, we'd definitely return, thank you so much for everything you did for us. Guy & Kirsten.…
Love this hotel. So nice and clean with a very cool vibe. Great beds, wonderful breakfast and a superb (quiet) location but close to everything. This was our second time staying here in 6 months and we’ll be back again! The service is also fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay in this Lovely hotel, great buffet breakfast, clean and comfortable bed in a very nice room. Great location in a quiet nice part of Stockholm easy to walk to Old Town and museums etc. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Stockholm.
Rival is a hotell in the heart of Stockholm were you can reach the city in no time at all. The staff is always there to help you out - no matter what! And if you just want to have a great time without leaving the hotel - you can do that to! The hotels bar and restaurant is a great place to hang out!
Just back from the most fantastic time in Stockholm for my wife’s birthday. Hotel Rival was everything and more we could’ve wished for. The staff were so friendly and helpful, always smiling and always eager to assist. Breakfast was to die for. The perfect way to set up your day. We had an absolute blast and we will be back to visit in the summer months. Undoubtedly 5⭐️ Thank you so much to all at Hotel Rival
We had a wonderful 6 night stay at Hotel Rival. Bedroom was lovely and comfortable. View of the park was stunning with the recent snowfall! The location was convenient to subway, and taxis are readily available. Breakfast was quite extravagant with many good options and the hours are generous. Heated bathroom floors, tremendous shower and bathtub. Highly recommend Hotel Rival!
I had a lovely 3-night stay in early November. The hotel is well-located close to a metro station and several cafes, wine bars, bakeries and restaurants in the vicinity. It is also a 15 min walk over to Gamla Stan. Service was welcoming from the start. They shared info on airport transfers and shared a list of things to do, when I had emailed them. The staff at the front desk and breakfast cafe were also lovely, especially Frida and Michelle who gave me lots of tips and very pleasant. There was a helpful girl in the breakfast lounge too who shared her tips. Finally, breakfast was excellent w/ a great spread and hot food options. One downside is my room didn't have much natural light, but I was hardly there and so it didn't bother me too much. Highly recommend and would stay there again. …
