First Hotel Reisen

Placed by Stockholm Ström next to the Royal Castle with a colourful history from the 17th century till today. Until the mid-20th century Stockholm Ström was a busy port. Here, by the waterfront, large ships would unload their goods and trade was conducted. The property has throughout the years hosted a mixture of warehouse, residential quarter, coffee house and guesthouses. Seven houses dating from the 17th century to the early 20th century have been merged, creating this single hotel complex. Traces of these buildings are still evident today. You can see this evidence in the thick brick walls, heavy wooden floors and sloping walls and roof. There is even a footprint from the 17th century in the bricks in our basement. The Per Brahe conference room is decorated with the interior from the shipwrecked S/S Per Brahe, that amongst others took the life of artist John Bauer when it sank.

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Great location and an excellent breakfast. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and not luxurious. There are 6 steps at the entrance that be challenging if you travel with heavy luggage. It's ok if you find it for the right price

The hotel is located next to the old town. The service is very low key. Rooms are good, with limited storage. The breakfast spread is excellent, there is something for everyone. The plunge pool is very small, but an experience as you can go in...More

Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel. Located on Gamla Stan, it's convenient to many sites of interest to tourists. I went in November so there were no hordes of tourists to deal with. It's easily accessible from the Central Station. I walked there directly,...More

Let me first clarify that my review is from the vantage of a global traveller for whom soon services are considered to be basic in a 4 or 5 star hotel. My review rating is a consequence of not finding these. My initial room was...More

My husband and I spent four nights at this hotel. We had an easy check-in and our room was located on the first floor. We had a nice sized queen bed room with a large bathroom and shower. It was clean and quiet. They provided...More

Our rooms are as most hotels in Stockholm not air conditioned. In Sweden we rarely have the climate that require air condition. Hope to see you in Stockholm soon.

Assuming you are coming in to Arlanda Stockholm Airport the easiest way to Stockholm City is by Arlanda Express train - very frequent and yes room for luggage. When you arrive in City Station plenty of taxis but recommend... More
