The hotel has an incredible location for sight-seeing and is located in the middle of Old Town. The hotel was easy to find and had a lot of interesting and convenient shops next to it. The room was very quaint, but had a lot of modern amenities (the bathroom was particularly attractive with its bright decor and mood). The breakfast...

With so many choices of hotels in Stockholm, it was difficult to decide where we wanted to stay and what type of hotel to choose. Boy, did we choose the right place! The Lady Hamilton Hotel was a delight from the very beginning. They were very helpful when making reservations, quick to answer emails and to make transportation and restaurant...

Nice hotel in a great location. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Fantastic breakfast. Room was small but met our needs. A very nice feel and Decor. We wound stay here again. We had friends staying at the Victory hotel (same owner) and the management allowed us to have breakfast together- a nice added touch of excellent customer service. Thank you...

What a wonderful hotel to base your visit of Stockholm. In the old city, plenty of restaurants close by. The hotel itself is unique in every way. The staff are obliging, friendly and pleasant. We would recommend it to all.

A truly charming hotel at a great location in the Old City, right by the Royal Castle. The staff is helpful and they serve a very good breakfast buffe. Female solo travellers get a complimentary basket with beauty products and magazines in the room. The single room I got was very small, but ok.

Great location, quirky, interesting, and definitely different.... If you love your Sheratons or Hiltons, this one might not be for you.....A state-of-the-art gym ? 24 hour coffee bar ? A Reception Lobby the size of an Airport Terminal ? A small shop selling newspapers, souvenirs and chocolates ? Then you might be disappointed.... But if you want to try something...

We're on a business tour of Scandinavia and have this week stayed in places resembling a prison, and your standard Holiday Inn, but this hotel in Stockholm old town (Gamla Stan) is a real find. The area is beautiful, cobbled streets and little individual shops and restaurants, and it's about 100m from the royal palace! The hotel is as individual...

The Lady Hamilton is centrally located in the old town, just minutes from the palace. It's quirky and has an abundance of interesting ephemera collected by the owner's family over years. Nice rooms, great breakfasts, very pleasant and helpful staff. There are lots of good places to eat in Gamla stan and all within a few minutes walk. I can't...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
