This hotel was so pretty and charming! I absolutely loved the décor, it really gave the hotel character. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated! The bed was so comfortable, it was hard to leave it! The bathroom was lovely, clean and modern. The breakfast was fantastic, a great selection was on offer. The hotel's staff were very friendly and...

You can't get a more idllic location in the old town than this. Right at the foot of the cathedral and next to the palace... it's picture postcard stuff. The place is filled with charming furniture and details and our 4th floor room was very spacious and comfortable. We started our stay with a private sauna (free of charge) and...

When I checked in to the hotel, the lovely receptionist asked whether I'd like to take one of the apartments which were located around the corner as a free upgrade as they'd had a cancellation. I checked it out and decided : yes! The apartment was very spacious with its own kitchen and lounge area. The bedroom was at the...

Right in the middle of Gamla Stan. Completely disinterested, bespectacled and unhelpful young man in reception. Fortunately sometimes a friendly lady took over but he was there a lot. Boring room with an odd mixture of styles but one could make a cup of tea. Boring breakfast.

Stayed here for 2 nights in the winter time. It was a very pleasant stay. Location was ideal in the middle of Gamla Stan. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were of a good size, clean and warm. Breakfast was sumptuous and a great way to start the day. I would prefer to stay in places like this...

This hotel has a great location and delicious breakfast is served in the morning. But you should visit it for the night experience. Rooms and corridors are decorated with old paintings, some wooden sculptures and traditional tools. It has more to do with spending a night in a museum than hotel, this place feels like Agata Christie's movie location -...

This hotel has got many positive aspects : it's located in a strategic position, in the center of Gamla Stan. It's style and furniture is a nice mix of traditional, antique and ship fittings. It's personnel is always extremely kind and smiling. One suggestion to make it even better : enhance soundproofing. Sometimes it's a bit noisy.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
