In one word; Magical. We were warmly welcomed by the graceful Armando and his team who truly made us feel like royalty for 3 days and nights. The room, breakfast and hospitality was of excellent level. The passion with which Armando shared his knowledge of the castle and its secret treasures was sincere and delightful. It is not a polished and shiny refurbished castle but authentic with all its distinct features. We had a lovely experience and will cherish it for a long time.
On way to Scilly, from Materea we stopped at this gem of a place - Relais Chateau Caccuri! A beautiful relaxed retreat, with clean spacious rooms. We were met by the delightful Theresa who made us most welcome with fresh coffee and friendly chatter ably assisted by Google Translate! I would definitely recommend this hotel however, there's no parking other than the local square which is an uphill 200m walk. Having said that the proprietor called whilst enroute offering luggage carrying service. A truly memorable stay, thank you So much to all the staff at the castle.
Leave your car in the square (roads a bit narrow ) , walk up towards the castle and you will enter another world . I cannot fault anything , the whole experience was truly out of this world . The restoration of this magnificent building has been done with such love and incredible attention to detail that I felt that it was an honour to be staying there. The memory of it all will stay with me forever ... Simply walking through those rooms and seeing those ceilings with the perfect decor and the lovely antique furnishings was perfection..... even the opening of the window was an experience an seeing that incredible view !!! . I totally loved it , and don't get me talking about the Chapel 😍...... The hosts are wonderful and they cannot do enough for you , the breakfast was wonderful . all those small touches are wonderful ..... Ciara you are absolutely fabulous , your love for your family home is heartwarming ........ and all your hard work is totally appreciated I thank you from the bottom of my heart for an unbelievable experience ...…
This delightful castle set on the high ridge above Caccuri village commands outstanding views. The castle has been sensitively renovated by the hosts who are welcoming and generous in their hospitality. The bedrooms are well furnished and breakfast is a delicious choice of home made biscuits, cakes and fruit. Breakfast is served on a grassy terrace at the top of the castle. The village has a couple of very good little restaurants for dinner. Would recommend this B and B.
The Castello is just off the SS107 and literally 5 minutes to Caccurri town centre. Caccurri is situated perfectly so 45 minutes West is the cooler mountain air at Lake Celitta, Mount Sila National Park, and 45 minutes East are the glorious beaches around Crotone. Both hosts were very friendly, charming and wonderfully helpful on places to see, with great directions on how to get to the best landmarks etc. We spent many a morning chatting on art, history and local culinary delights! My personal favourites being Pita and Ca' d'Or Millesimata Prosecco. Can't wait to visit again.
