Lovely authentic hotel in the centre of Aarhus, which was easily accessible from the train station. The food was fab and service fantastic. Super spacious rooms. Would definitely recommend it for personal holiday as well as business travel.

Hotel's Favourite
We had breakfast at Royal - it tasted really delicious. Mostly of the food and beverage are organic. The breakfast has also good choices for people with allergies. I don’t tolerate gluten and milk but it’s not a problem down there. I had a lot of fresh organic fruits and greens and nuts and honey with bread without gluten. The tea is also organic and fabulous. The manager is very friendly and helpful with a good sense of humour. The restaurant is really cosy with beautiful interiors and have also good eyes for food sustainability. I give my best recommendations to their breakfast 🤗

I had one night at this lovely hotel in a historic building in central Århus. It's a short walk to the main shopping streets and the most popular restaurant area by the waterfront. The interior of the building itself is quite impressive - you feel like royalty indeed! The place obviously has a fascinating history, and has hosted some notable people over the years. Overall you got a very luxurious and "royal" feel when inside the hotel. I booked a single room, for a very reasonable rate, but the room was pretty small and had no view at all (the view was quite depressing actually). The bathroom featured a great rain shower and seemed to be newly renovated. Surprisingly, the room also featured an extensive minibar, and you also had the choice of snacks and wine in the room itself. Very cool amenity that is sadly missing from most hotels these days. I tried the lovely Atrium restaurant for breakfast, which was pretty good. I'm sure it would also have been a great place for dinner. The hotel also features a nice bar (albeit it was deserted when I visited) adjacent to the casino that is also a part of the same building. Note that the hotel has a sharp check-in time of 3 PM! Overall a great stay!

Pros and contras: The staff very friendly, special thanks to Niklas, working in the bar: thank you for your splendid drinks, we enjoyed them so much. Rooms are spacious and we had the room with the balcony on the 2nd floor, facing the "Store Torv" (perfect view!) Location is very neat! Room was clean and tidy, but unfortunately the bathroom floor had spots with spilled cream, so it was extremely slippery. We could have injured ourselves badly. Couch in room looks great, but impossible to make it yourself comfortable for a longer period. The hotel offers water-to-go in the reception. Nice detail when the weather is hot like it was, so thank you! Breakfast a little disappointing. For a hotel this class, we would have expected more selections (like smoothies, bubbles...) No cream for coffee supplied. Boiling eggs are "do it yourself". For covid reason perhaps an good idea, but no teaspoons nor egg cups were supplied. Hotel in general condition: a straight "average". Classy decor, no doubt, but used over the years. Spots on carpets in the public areas. All in all, a bit overpriced but ok hotel for short stays.

This hotel is in a good location and had a decent breakfest. Compared to the price though, I think it’s a bit overpriced and it didn’t quite meet my expectations. Would stay again if I got a good price.
