#14 of 187 hotels in Rethymnon
“Ionia Suites” is located in the centre of Rethymnon, 100 meters from the central market of the city as well as from its 8km beach, while in less than 100 meters distance, the city’s municipal parking operates its facilities. The hotel's advantageous & unique location makes easy the access of the visitors to the famous “old town”, in a just 200 meters walking distance, where someone can enjoy the “ride” through the picturesque streets and “live” unforgettable memories by “traveling back in time” at the Venetian era. “Ionia Suites” was fully rebuilt and renovated in 2014, following all modern safety and operating standards. Its architectural structure follows the archetype of the Venetian style, giving visitors the “air” of a bygone era. The Renaissance style on one hand and the “mix” with the modern element, on the other, are merged harmoniously to give a cosmopolitan character to its 21 luxury apartments-suites.The suites are properly designed to offer all those services that fully meet the needs of our guests, while ensuring calmness and relaxation.

We stayed for one week in July 2021 and were delighted. It is very rare to stay in a hotel which is so meticulously clean and well-maintained. The owners and staff must have an eye for detail! Even the curtains and awkward lamp fittings are in mint condition, so I wonder if it has been recently renovated? The other outstanding feature is the fantastic breakfast! Well done! Otherwise, the main attraction of this hotel is the near perfect location: you’ve got the beach just down the hill, or the cultural delights of the old Venetian city, which starts just a five minute walk to the west, or if you just want decent modern shops and amenities, the whole new town spreads out to the south. A handy corner shop just across the road, and a proper supermarket just round the corner. Friendly staff. (There was some minor disturbance from building work in the neighbouring building when we were there, and none of the TVs worked in the entire hotel due to a fault, but I feel that it is unfair to knock off a point for these minor and temporary inconveniences. And who watches telly when you have this beautiful town to explore?) Please note that the gorgeous little hotel pool is tiny.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Ionia Suites Hotel. We were upgraded from a standard room to a one-bedroom suite, which was lovely. From the moment we arrived to when we left, the service was excellent. We particularly loved the location - close to the old town as well as close to the beaches. We did get lost a couple of times, but that only meant we discovered new places. The hotel was very clean. Our room was on the same level as the pool, which was small, but a lovely place to enjoy a glass of wine. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices with home made bread and jams - delicious. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights during the last week in August. We really chose this hotel because of the location, both walking distance to the beach for the day, and to the Old Town for bars and restaurants for the evening. Also there is a pool which we did use most late afternoons. I must admit that when we 1st arrived from Chania we were a bit disappointed in the location, after being in a tiny pedestrianised walkway, the Ionia suites is on quite a busy cross roads. However it did meet our location criteria (above). We had a studio suite (room 308) on the top floor by the pool, which was huge; separate living area with kitchen, great shower, and 2 balconies - unfortunately the balconies overlook a busy road, so not very peaceful. The hotel is very well looked after, very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the ladies serving breakfast, which was decent too. They also provide towels for the beach. Rethymno is not as quaint or pretty as Chania, and I think the bars are a bit more touristic, but I think that overall the restaurants are better, and a little cheaper. There is also a nice beach only 10mins walk away, with plenty of places to hire beds and sun shades quite reasonably. The location, on the main road is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars

My mother and I were so looking forward to staying at Ionia Suites as based on the photos and numerous past reviews it looked fantastic! Sadly our booking turned into a disaster. 1 week before we were due to stay at Ionia Suites they emailed me to tell me that our booking had been cancelled due to over booking despite the fact we had booked and paid in full months ago. When we arrived in Rethymnon - having had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute - we went in to Ionia Suites to enquire about our cancelled reservation. The man at reception couldn't give us an exact explanation but said it was most likely due to someone booking for 7 nights as opposed to our 3 so they decided to give them the room instead. He also said that this was quite common hotel practise. Based on this experience I would not recommend Ionia Suites to anyone!!!!
