Detailed Reviews
We have just returned from a 1 week honeymoon at Theartemis Palace and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This was our first visit to Crete after having 3 previous Honeymoons to other destinations cancelled as a result of the ongoing "pandemic"...
Our relatives messaged the hotel ahead of our arrival to advise them that it was our Honeymoon (we were wed the day previously), asking if they could help make our stay extra special. They didn't disappoint. On arrival, Theartemis is an impressive looking hotel, with beautiful water features either side of Reception. Reception is a great looking area, very grand, with marble floors and modern furnishings. Very stylishly finished. The Gentleman on Reception was very helpful and friendly. We were checked in and were allowed to enter the Restaurant for a cold meats and cheese selection as we had arrived at around midnight after travelling all day. It was very kind of them to provide refreshments for us at such a late hour.
The room followed the style of the rest of the hotel, very classy with modern furnishings. The hotel had arranged for a bottle of Italian sparkling wine in an ice bucket, with glasses, fresh strawberries, Ouzo with flavoured syrups and towel decorations in the room for our arrival. This was a lovely touch, very much appreciated and started our Honeymoon perfectly. The pool view was stunning, it's beautifully illuminated on an evening. We freshened up in the bathroom which looks to have been recently refurbished to a good standard before catching up on some sleep. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, we slept very well the whole stay. The room, and entire hotel were perfectly clean. Hand sanitiser was present in numerous locations and all social distancing guidelines were adhered to, even sun loungers spaced at least 2m apart. We felt very safe during our stay.
All the food was really nice, very well cooked and the restaurant staff were lovely.
The drinks were good, especially the Pinã Colada.
The level of service from the staff was great during our stay, particularly Victor and Polina. They were great, so friendly and they never stopped, always worked so hard.
The hotel is perfectly situated, supermarkets, bars and restaurants in close proximity, the beach a minute or so away and a short stroll to the Old Town and the Harbour.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay, the hotel and staff were flawless and we can't wait to return. Thank you for making our Honeymoon special during these difficult times.

Hotel itself is located couple of blocks from beach, but walking time is just some minutes. The reception staff was friendly and our arrival to hotel was at middle of night because of flight. Hotel has arranged sandwiches and water at room because restaurants were closed.
We had a superior room with outdoor jacuzzi and the room was just as it was described. Room was nice, clean and the most important – it was quiet. Of course some noise came to room at mornings when other quests went to breakfast, but since these jacuzzi-rooms were in separate corridor – the amount of noise were quite small. The room had separate yard where the jacuzzi was and there was plenty of room to have two sun beds. The palm that was in yard, shadowed the hot sun just perfectly at afternoon. Bathroom was spacious and hot water was available all the time. The Jacuzzi what we had was excellent, it was filled when we arrived and maintenance staff checked it daily. Water is changed when guests change, and water is kept clear with filters at pool and chemicals. You can set the temperature for water as you want and have great time at your own balcony.
We had half-board at our vacation and I have to say that breakfast was excellent. It is hard to think what was missing there, bread, bacon, fruits… You can sit either outside or inside – inside there was always room – outside was more crowded, but staff did their best to arrange needed tables. Dinner included to half-board was good – not exceptional. Only weird thing was that drinks did not included at all and you have to pay even the water bottle – and how to pay these drinks were never explained. Easiest way is to sign the recipe and pay all at you room bill at once when you sign out. Of course you can try to pay drinks after the dinner, but it is the hard way.
The hotel has a pool and sun beds around it. Here is the same problem as every tourist hotel has – some people bring their towels to sunbeds early in the morning and then leave for breakfast, beach, or some other activities and all the beds are “reserved by towels” and only few people are actually in the pool area. Of course pool was fully crowded if the beach has “red flags” because of the wind.
Staff was very friendly – I have to say that service was very good in this hotel. Cleaning was done every day , bed was made and towels were changed whenever we wanted.
As earlier said – hotel is located couple blocks from beach and if you want to walk to old town – there is about two kilometers walk there, but it is acceptable. Near hotel is lots of supermarkets if you want to buy drinks or food to room. If you get the room at street side – there might be lots of noise that disturbs you but I suggest that pay a bit more and get superior room or room with poolside view and get rest at night. There was program at every night at poolside if one is interested something like that (Greek night, the magician, live music etc)
Overall, I can recommended this hotel – our vacation here was very relaxing and successful.

Lovely hotel; very smart and quite big with a beautiful pool. Busy area but we were not aware of any noise in the room. it was two blocks from a public beach and you could walk into Rethymnon in about 20 minutes. There is a parking lot (8 euro a day) which is worth it as parking is definitely not easy here! The staff were very helpful and we had an amazing upgrade to a suite with a really big balcony overlooking the pool, so felt very spoilt! The restaurant is a buffet but the food is very fresh and is constantly refilled. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent with a huge amount of choice. The bed was very comfy although a duvet a bit hot even in May and the bathroom was big with an excellent hot over-bath shower.

We were the first guests after covid lockdown and the staff welcomed us so warmly. They offered us some local snacks and raki. They also changed our room for superior free of charge as a welcome gift.
The hotel was above our expectations. The common area (reception, pool, terrace, pool bar) is elegant and stylish. Only the interior of the restaurant is not so stylish as the rest of the hotel.
The room was clean, the towels were changed daily. It was also very stylish, but quite small. There was a balcony so we could chill in the evenings. The air conditioning was ok. The only disadvantage was the noise from quite a busy street.
The food: great range of products for dinner, breakfasts were a bit repetitive - ok for a week but not for longer stay. The drinks for dinner and at the pool bar could be a bit cheaper - we preferred going out for a bottle of wine than staying in the hotel bar.
Spa area was closed due to covid restrictions. The water in the pool was warm and clean, not busy (sometimes we were the only guests swimming). The great advantage for us was the fact that there was no animation team at the hotel so it was peaceful the whole day.
Hotel is close to the beach and the city of Rethymno with a wide range of restaurants and bars.
The staff was very helpful and polite during the whole stay. We also received a small gift when leaving the hotel which was a nice surprise.

This was admittedly a last minute thing thanks to the virus. Usually we do more research. We had a pool view room which meant all day every day we had head banger music and evening entertainment at full volume. Our room had some maintenance problems which were apparently repaired with black sticky tape- only of course they were not. (A lamp that would not go on would not then go off). It seems in this place your problems are not theirs. Not likely we will be back. The one major positive was the restaurant service which was mainly great despite cover restrictions. Beware the waitress who thinks she knows all about wine!!!!

I am very pleased with my stay at the hotel. We were offered high class service from the very first minute from out arrival to the very last. Rooms were clean, towels changed and rooms tidied every single day. Food is tasty and selection of drinks is wide enough with all inclusive offer. COVID update: we felt really safe and management and hotel staff really made sure covid restrictions are affecting guests as little as possible. Every table, chair and sofa dezinfected after every use. The only down side were the queues in the restaurant as guests were not allowed to use the buffet themselves, but staff was doing everything in their power to serve food as fast and in a nice 4star hotel manner. Highly recommend!
Plus the location is perfect, near the sea and close to town!

An excellent hotel that fully met our expectations. Professional and pleasant staff will welcome you at the reception. The food is fresh and tasty, there is always enough of it. There is a nice selection of cakes and fruit. The hotel restaurant is very well organized, you will be seated immediately by friendly employees. Cleanliness in the hotel is at a very high standard. The pool is large and very well maintained, the only problem is finding a free sunbed because already around 7 AM people occupy the sunbeds with towels and go back to sleep. The rooms are cleaned regularly and very well. We were accommodated in the Annex building of the hotel and had a spacious room overlooking the pool. There is an outdoor swimming pool in the Annex building, which is smaller than the one in the main hotel building. There is also an indoor pool and jacuzzi. Crete is a beautiful island, but the hotel certainly contributed to the impressions we take from our vacation. Greetings from the Klasnja family.

The overall experience was better than expected. We got welcome drinks (champagne or soft drinks were offered). We got a nice surprise with a free upgrade to a better room than what was booked and paid for. Cleanness was at the highest level and overview of the pool, especially at night when underwater lights turn on and gave a romantic vibe. At the bar next to the pool they made large cocktails btw. :) Food was nicely decorated and with reasonable different options. We had HB booked and didn't regret it. Also big thanks to the entire staff - they all were pleasant, helpful, and really assertive. They are the reason that I'm giving this 4* hotel one star more because they deserve 5* review. I'll recommend this hotel for sure to everyone who asks. :)

This hotel totally met expectations; well located for vising the old town on foot, and with a beach at the end of the road. It is well maintained and with high standards of cleanliness, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant personnel who work really hard to provide a wide range of tasty and varied food with no queues either for a table or for food. Efforts are also made to cater for food intolerances /allergies. Lactose free milk and yoghurt were available on request and many thanks to Vasilissa who went out of her way every day to take our daughter round the different dishes to identify which ones she could eat.
We also enjoyed the evening entertainment which was varied and to a high standard.
There was only one negative point....Unfortunately the disagreable habit of saving sunloungers round the pool at the crack of dawn and for the whole day is rife and it is very frustrating seeing towels occupying beds for hours on end with no sign of their owners!

such a gorgeous hotel and provides such kind welcoming staff, the hygiene is excellent, any mess in the rooms is cleaned by the janitors and they make the rooms just feel fresh each day. the bathrooms have lovley showers which just felt so refreshing after a long day at the beach, the sink has lots of space with a large mirror. the wardrobe has so much storage and multiple functions to use. the beds are comfortable and very clean. in the main entrance there is always assistance whether that’s behind the bar or at the desk it’s phenomenal. the pool is so gorgeous with lots of sun beds available. the restaurants are so efficient and quick with outside and inside seating, once you have finished a meal they will in seconds take it away for you. the buffet has so many options family friendly. the extra add ins are great like the spa! the hotel connected to the theartermis is also great. i often used their indoor pool as its cooling and chilled. overall amazing experience

Hi, normally I would say that all-inclusive would include all meals. But in this case, it was the room an breakfast so really, B&B. But the room was wonderful with really good shower and the breakfast probably the best buffet I've ever eaten from anywhere in the world. Hope this helps. C
We didn't dine in the restaurant, as we prefer to go out, but I believe the dress code is smart/casual.
