Nestled on the shore with striking views, Elounda Bay Palace is cherished for its prime location and immaculate cleanliness, from its well-kept grounds to its pristine rooms. Guests enjoy the inviting atmosphere, enhanced by live piano music, despite some noting a quieter ambiance. While the staff's friendliness stands out, service can sometimes miss the mark on consistency. Travelers appreciate the amenities offered but caution against high prices for food and drinks. Room experiences vary, with mentions of complimentary upgrades but also calls for updates to the decor and fixes for maintenance issues.

When we first arrived at the hotel the team were very attentive and took our bags to the room for us and we were given a tour by one of the receptionists. However this is where the contact ended. The room itself did not look like the photos advertised and could only be described as tired and outdated including strange fittings such as a six inch colour tv in the bathroom. When we had an issue with the toilet flush being broken we were unable to contact the reception desk and instead had to resort to googling the hotel only to be told that we would have to wait to be seen. There is no info available about the hotel, costs, the local area or anything else at all apart from a well stocked mini bar with conveniently no prices attached.

The breakfast at the hotel is good and has a plethora of options as does the dinner service although sometimes with an unclear theme. The staff in the restaurant were a bit hit and miss, previously we would have finished our main courses and the plates would be left. We were not told how to pay for drinks and at times left waiting until after we had finished our mains to be then served a small 250ml soft drink for €4 a go.

The beech and pool areas are clean and the staff are attentive and help you to find and set out sun beds and offer drinks throughout the day which is positive and the beach staff generally seem friendly.

The surrounding area and the town of Elounda is very nice awash with excellent eateries and bars (much better quality and prices compared to the hotels offerings and is very clean and a large variety of excursions that are very well priced including a 5 hour trip including lunch and drinks and multiple swimming trips for only €25pp.

All in all an average hotel experience, needing significant improvement to bring it up to the ‘five star platinum experience’ that is promised. Do not be fooled by the leading hotels of the world label.

Just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. The restaurant did an amazing job with such a good variety of food always plentiful and delicious. Staff were welcoming we had no problems - so don't read the negative reviews! We were only in a Basic Mountain View room but it was large, auiet, cleaned daily with fresh towels/beach towels and a night turndown service.
Beach & Pool are well maintained never a problem getting a sunbed.
You can walk into Elounda in about 15 mins if you want a choice of bars/restaurants for a change of scene and a taxi back is 6 euros.
Could not have asked for a more perfect restful break after the last 18 months thank you to all the staff at Elounda Bay palace.

On arrival we were promptly met, within 2 minutes, by the most amazing individual called George, who rapidly identified us with his hand sign inscribed with our names on it!

George organised our luggage off the turnstiles and we set off pretty quickly and before we blinked we were in our transfer vehicle arranged via email by the fabulous hotel reception team before we left the UK.

Our transfer vehicle was loaded with wet wipes and a bottle of water each to help ease any thirst we may have had lingering. Our driver made us feel at ease right from the moment George had introduced us earlier. With his dulcet tone, he held a fine and non-intrusive conversation for the duration of our minute drive to Elounda Bay Palace.

Then the hotel went up a gear by settling us in after providing us with complimentary cocktails whilst we waited to be ushered to our Deluxe Sea View which in actual fact was transformed to one of a strip of 4 private apartments overseeing the most amazing view of the mountains. We had been upgraded!!

Elounda Bay Palace went up yet another gear when an unforeseen circumstance took hold but Yanis's expression was "everything happens for a reason" and with his resilience, upgraded us again into the Mediterranean Villa with an illuminated private pool, a courtyard, 2 en-suites and a generous amount of living space!!
Thanks Yanis!

The magic continued with more excellent service provided by the entire team including, Monolis with his conversational style, Elias (who adores his 2 Greek Shepherd dogs), making the most amazing cocktails whilst wearing a smile that settled you into a fine evening, Nico with his talent for Guest Relationship Management, Victoria, Maria and many more names of individuals making a team of finely balanced experts at their trade!

Eirini! The provider of fine entertainment with her musical genius created an ambiance of relaxation involving very fine music!

In summary?
The food is fantastic, the staff are a team of gifted individuals who excel at their craft, the guest relation team go the extra mile at every opportunity, the accommodation is excellent and the hotels handling of a COVID safe environment has been very impressive.

Final word goes to Dimitris who has led the entire team with the skills and mentality of a real tactician, a leader with a passion for hospitality on a very different level but far more important is that, his entire team genuinely adore him!

This visit was our 4th and we plan to return next year to continue savoring the most amazing views of Crete!

Desperate to get away during the ‘pandemic’ and having not been to Crete (or anywhere in the Med) before, we (2 adults, 17 & 15 year olds) ended up choosing this hotel without the benefit of any recommendations and, therefore, didn’t know what we were letting ourselves in for. Upon arrival the hotel had only been open for 3 days since being closed due to covid. This did mean that it was fairly quiet to begin with but every day got busier and busier. Our room (the choice is plentiful), Classic Sea View, was slightly dated although very clean. Having taken the opportunity to look at alternative rooms we have a better idea of what we would chose when we visit again.

Most rooms are within easy reach of the two small beaches or the large pool. There were plenty of sunbeds available for everybody although it would probably be a challenge if it were fully occupied. The beach staff do a fantastic job of trying to keep everybody happy and that is the big plus point of this hotel. All of the staff go out of there to make sure that your needs are met – Front of house, housekeeping, dining, watersports etc couldn’t be faulted.

Dinner is a buffet which was very good with a wide variety. You also have the option of dining at the many a la carte, most of which are situated in the sister hotel, Elounda Beach, next door. If you do you get a credit of ¢30 per person. This will cover about half of the bill.

Drinks & watersports are expensive but that’s not uncommon. Over two weeks we spent €1,600 on soft drinks, waterskiing & jet skiing and one meal at an a la carte restaurant. We also spent €1,300 chartering the Catamaran for a day which was brilliant, and €560 on scuba dives. The diving was also surprisingly good.

In summary we were very happy with Crete and our choice of hotel.

This hotel belong to a group called Leading Hotels of the World. So expectations were high, the main dining room
Was self service. The variety was reasonable, however there were times when I found it difficult to find food that I liked. Even though it was September there were children running around while we were carrying food.
Rooms good, clean and staff . If you book do it through a holiday company such as TUI. We booked through the hotels Honoured Guest ,payed full cost outright when booked, should have been given full refund under the booking agreement, If we had done this via Agent we would have our refund

Dear Reviewer, We would like to thank you for taking the time to post your review ans noting your appraisal of our hotel and facilities we would like to advise the following: The Elounda Bay Palace Hotel, is very popular choice for families and September 2019 was indeed a particularly desired time for many. The hotel operated at virtually maximum capacity throughout the entire month and as we work on Half Board Basis, the main ''Aretoussa'' restaurant was indeed sometimes congested during meal times. For future seasons, we may look at the possibility of early sittings for children, especially when the hotel is running at full volume. The hotel' s breakfast and dinner buffets offer a diverse range of dishes to suit all palates, which are rotated on a fourteen day basis. We have of course noted your comments for future deliberations relating to our menus. We hope we shall have the pleasure of welcoming you to our resort during the 2021 season and in the meantime, wish you a healthy and safe winter. Best Regards, Dimitris Theodoroglakis Hotel Manager

Hotel is stunning. The setting is perfect with the beach and pool so close to the rooms. The hotel was peaceful even though child friendly. Perfect for a baby as lots of ramps to get round with a pram. We were given an upgrade on arrival to a pool view bungalow. The room was a little dated and probably needs refurbishing but was comfortable overall. The food in the buffet was very good quality. The staff in the main dining buffet were amazing particularly eveangalia our amazing waitress who couldn't do enough for us. Also the pool boys work extremely hard providing towels and beds and even making sure the sand is even raked for the next day! Things that could be improved : 1. Water is not available for free and is €4 a bottle. 2. Sail in bar is stunning but the prices are a lot - a small cocktail for €16. 3. There was a conference on at the end of our stay and standards started to slip as the focus seemed to be on these guests 4. There should be more lunch options ie toasties. The restaurant serves lunch but is pricey. The main issue is the high prices which seems to drive people out of the hotel and Elounda. We had a very enjoyable stay and I would certainly recommend for the views, atmosphere, food and friendly staff.

Dispute some disappointing aspects of this hotel we did enjoy our time there with our friends. The room above the restaurant was kept beautifully clean but was very tired looking and at times noisy from the restaurant- staff shouting and general noise of the restaurant. The food was excellent in the buffet but the chairs were very stained which doesn’t become a 5* hotel. Despite discount vouchers for the individual restaurants the two we used were expensive and poor value. There was no bar open in the actual hotel for pre dinner drinks or after dinner despite there being some beautiful sitting areas - hardly used. The hotel was running a conference for a few days which meant parts of the hotel not available to us. The pool, catering and cleaning staff were wonderful. Beautiful location and fabulous pool but won’t come back.

Well what can I say! This hotel is amazing. The staff are unbelievably helpful and sincere especially the restaurant staff. Maria in particular deserves a mention for the way she looked after us.
Food is outstanding. There is only one buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner but we were there two weeks and never ate the same thing twice. There are two lunch restaurants on site and you can dine at the specialty fish restaurant on the pier and if on half board you get an allowance of 30 euros per person. There are also three other specialty restaurants in the sister hotel Elounda Beach which you can take a buggy ride to. Food in these is superb. We never had a bad meal in any of the restaurants. However be prepared as they are quite expensive and all drinks are very expensive. I asked the Manager about this and he explained as they are a Leading Hotel of the World they have to adhere to their pricing structure. However we did notice that the two bars were quite deserted at night.
Usual water sports available and two small but fantastic beaches. All serviced by beach staff who bring out a fresh sunbed towel every time a bed is needed. No sunbed wars here and although there were not loads of sunbeds there was always one available even mid afternoon. There is also a call button on the parasol and they will bring drinks to you.
Our room was seafront and very modern with a great shower. The Management had upgraded us but I still thought the room was a little small but great to sit there in the evening with a glass of wine after dinner.
Not much in the way of entertainment except an occasional piano player.
The hotel is 15 minutes walk from Elounda or if too hot a 5 min taxi ride (7 euros) There are an unlimited amount of restaurants and bars in Elounda Harbour and I have reviewed the ones we went to separately. All great.
All in all a great hotel and we will be back. If I have to find fault I did not like the discrimination with your room beach towels. Suites and bungalows had yellow ones and the rest of us had blue ones. Not a big just annoying.

Dear Raz First of all, on behalf of the team and management of the resort, thank you for sharing all these amazing compliments and for choosing our hotel to enjoy this special holiday where in the end, all expectations were met and even exceeded. We are much honored that you included Elounda Bay Palace in such a precious moment of your lives. It is pleasing to see all this positive feedback about the attention provided by our team, distinguished by their excellence and attention to detail. It is always great to know that we have fulfilled our goal of creating unbeatable stays. We are glad to read you have particularly enjoyed our food outlets and got to taste our delicious food at both hotels. Indeed, our restaurants run under the LHW standards which elevate the quality and high standards of taste. Regarding the beach call button and all the beach facilities, this is an exclusive experience feel where every guest is treated individually, as a guest star. We are always looking at the possibility of making our services as efficient as possible which is of utmost importance. As for the beach towels, please simply take it as a tact of different sections in coloring. We respect our guests and always want to assist in any way possible. We thank you for your suggestions upon entertainment; new ideas on themed nights and events will be taken into consideration for future operations. We would love it if you could possibly join us next year to relive the experience and get to join the events. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon! Firstly let me start by saying how helpful the staff are. The breakfast service was impeccable with tea and coffee at your table within five minutes of you sitting down.

Both restaurants at lunchtime had a good choice of food and had lovely views of the bay.

We stayed in a Mountain View room (213) which was very dated and noisy as it was right over the main path and you could hear deliveries arriving from early morning. However the rooms are very clean and sufficient if you are on a budget.

If the hotel had a bit of money spent on it then it could be really lovely as the views and location are excellent. Little things like the seats in the restaurants are old and stained and the reception area is dark with old fashioned furniture. If you are thinking of booking just bear in mind it was built in the 70’s so if you like really modern and trendy stay in the more expensive modern rooms.

We went out every night apart from one as Elounda, Plaka and Aghios Nikolias are only a taxi ride away and a great night out. We did a trip on the Happy Train which was fantastic and that’s how we discovered the beautiful village of Plaka. You don’t need to prebook, just turn up half an hour before departure (12 noon) at Elounda beach. The tour lasts 4 hours including lunch at a taverna which was really tasty and cheap although beware of the wasps!

All in all we had a fantastic time but the hotel is more of 4 star than 5 star and we probably would choose a new hotel when we return to Crete.

This was our first time in Crete and also therefore at this hotel. We were very fortunate to be upgraded upon arrival and very much enjoyed the facilities allocated. Like everyone else, we read through the reviews on here and can definitely say that the hotel lived up to its excellent reputation.

Location - It has a fabulous location and is only a 15 minute walk to Elounda town itself which has lots of bars and restaurants and is very picturesque. There is also a supermarket close by for any snacks etc. The sea is crystal clear and the beach was well maintained. We also didn't have to worry about trying to get beach beds as there were plenty available.

Service - from the start to the end of the trip every staff member from reception to the restaurant were very helpful and happy to chat with us every day of our stay. Despite the pressure of large conferences taking place, the staff still looked after us and made us feel very welcome. Mariaa and her partner who cleaned our rooms always had beaming smiles and it was lovely walking back into our rooms with their thoroughness and the flower arranging every day.

Food - we were half board and therefore made the most of the buffet at breakfast and dinner. The food was very good and with all the allergen labels available for each dish, it was very helpful – not something that we have seen in other restaurants. There were plenty of options each night!

Spa – I had the best massage I have ever had and the facilities were 5*. We also spoke to a couple of other vacationers who had used the spa who also said it was the best massages they had had.

We are already looking to book again for the same time next year! Thank you for helping us to have a wonderful and relaxing holiday!!!

Carol Some are poor and have very old furniture ,old shower heads and are really needing everything replaced . These rooms tend to be the Classic Sea view and classic Mountain View rooms (we had sea view)this was just 2 weeks ago travelling Jet 2 The hotel admitted it was over booked and so moving after complaining was difficult . The restaurant buffet was really poor (my NHS canteen had more hot food )but lots of salad ,nothing like the 5 star Sheraton buffet I experienced in March in Fuerventura . Tables not getting cleared as no staff ,queues to get in dining room AM and PM ,not 5 star experience . My review and a good few others will say the same ,good reviews must be folk who either went for suites, bungalows or got moved to the sister hotel or weren't on a packaged holiday . We had been upgraded originally and had a lovely room but it was tiny ,no seats to sit and enjoy TV,coffee, drinks ,this was an end of corridor room that was likely for single conference guest so we asked to move to proper bigger room and got the old style classic . The gardens ,beach and other facilities are lovely ,the staff fighting a losing battle ,but the room, buffet and extortionate drinks were just not acceptable and we have just informed Jet 2 and Leading Hotels Of The world about our complaints . Sorry this will make you think twice but you might want to call reception and get a guarantee on the rooms and restaurant .
