Alkionides hotel consists of two separate buildings, an older one which is currently refurbished to fulfill the needs of the most demanding customer and a new luxurious one. We have decorated them in a greek traditional way to make our customers feel they are living their own myth in a land of culture and civilization! The hotel has a swimming pool and a bar restaurant open until late hours.

The location of the accommodation is a major asset, with the seaside nearby and breakfast served almost on the beach, providing a really nice setting to start the day. Some aspects tarnished the experience, such as the additional €8 requested for 2 deckchairs on the beach, which is a bit disappointing. The establishment also shows signs of dilapidation, and the welcome was rather absent on our arrival (it is the housekeeper who sends us back to a person at the bar who goes to get the lady from the welcome... looks like the French administration) which is unprofessional.

I cannot believe this hotel has so few stars. It is excellent on every level! Surely deserving of 4stars
My room was beautiful, spacious, recently renovated to a very high standard; and I’ve stayed in many four star hotels with less beautiful rooms and less facilities. The staff are wonderful, helpful and kind. (They didn’t charge for sunbeds on days with some rain or cloud even though we did use them!) Food is home cooked as this is a family run establishment. Their Cretan salad is delicious! The pool is not large but lovely and they don’t blare loud music to capture attention on the beach (unlike the big hotel next door) Oh and it’s on the beach!

Super cozy hotel with good atmosphere and Greek charm. We were going two adults and a child of 2 years. We stayed in apartment 1 without steps, as it was easy with the wagon, but also apartment 16 and 17 are without steps. Extra plus was that the cleaning lady took the dishes. Although it was high season, we almost had the pool for ourselves, which was lovely so our boy could be happy to swim. Nice when Eagles, Stones, Beatles, Neil Young etc were played in the speaker. We ate in the restaurant almost all meals. The food is super delicious and large portions at good prices. No need to find other restaurants.
The main street in Platanias is stressful with the main road that goes through, but otherwise large selection of restaurants and shops. We were delighted that we had a very small wagon with us, otherwise it would have been hard to walk in town.
Lidl is 500 metres away where you can buy everything. Otherwise nice supermarkets right across the hotel. The beach is not child-friendly as there are stones (bathers needed) and the water can be with many waves. Without small children the beach is really nice and 2 sun loungers and umbrella for 8 euros (good price). The family that runs the hotel is really nice, but especially the son-in-law George had good charisma and created good atmosphere.
If you are looking for a cozy Greek hotel, with few people, short distances, good service and delicious food, then Alkionides is a good deal😊

Overall fantastic! The location is Amazing, meters from the beach with easy access and shower facilities. Option for a sunbed on the beach for a small fee per day. The pool is clean and tidy and not crowded with sun beds. The pool bar is looked after by amazing staff, seems a family business. All very welcoming, polite and couldn’t do more for you. We stayed for 4 nights and had breakfast and lunch most days very generous portions and very tasty. The staff were always available should you need anything. The rooms were very spacious and authentic Greek decor! Location is perfect, just off the Main Street with a variety of bars / resturaunts. Couldn’t reccomend this wonderful hotel anymore. Hats off to the staff - made our holiday.

The hotel provides fabulous hospitality , next to the sea and near the centre of Platanias, in an area with many restaurants, shops and interesting activities. The breakfast is nice, WiFi works properly. The room I was given was large, bright and always clean. Finally the people are efficient and friendly.

In a great location just off main street where there are lots of bars and restaurants and right on the beach. Fabulous hotel/apartments with a lovely pool area and bar/ restaurant. Very clean and modern apartment, lovely decor and little touches…and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Big room and bathroom with big bath in, would of liked a stand up shower( there was a shower head), but this would definitely not put me off returning. Delicious food served in a stunning beachside location. Family friendly and helpful, work hard to ensure happy guests.

Had a 9 night break in July 2022 via Booking.com. Superb room with jacuzzi bath, small kitchen area incl hob and fridge, all at a good daily rate which included an excellent buffet breakfast. The hotel is right on the beach and offers sunbeds etc. at €7 per day or €45 per week. It has a nice bar and restaurant that is very reasonable. Within a 3 minute walk you are at the quieter end of Platanias where there is an abundance of good quality restaurants. The busier end of the town is no more than 10 mins walk and has a few more cocktail type bars. There is a local supermarket where you can buy most things you will need to make sandwiches etc. and of course by some drink for your fridge. The beach is a bit stoney but the sea is lovely. The hotel hosted a Greek food and music night each week. Definately a great place to experience Greek family hospiltality. Thank you for a great time.

This hotel is amazing. Spacious, nicely decorated, clean and quiet rooms. Very good breakfast and dinner options. The staff is very friendly and they arranged some day trips for us at good prices. Nice and clean pool with free sunbeds and you can rent sunbeds on the beach. Would definately recommend this hotel to everyone and will stay here again when we come back to Crete.

Perfect one week holiday at the beach with nice views, close to Chania and in very nice Platanias town. Personell extremely friendly and felt like „at home“. We were in a newly renovated room (superior double) which was great. Excellent value for money. Will certainly come back and recommend
