I chose this hotel for a trip with friends based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. It proved to be a great decision as the hotel was clean and modern. Friends who stayed in other hotels wished they were in ours. My single room was clean with a large comfortable double bed which had crisp, white bed linen. I was...

Hotel is extremely well located, has a nice rooftop bar with a nice view to the Acropolis - that's IT! Rooms are ok in size, clean, very simple but very noisy - at this very moment it seems like the guests upstairs are having a shower INSIDE our room. Noise from the corridor is also loud. Isolation and soundproof of...

My son and I spent the 1st week of April in Athens 2017 and stayed at the Central Hotel in the Plaka area of the city. Great hotel with fantastic views of the city and the Acropolis. Room was well appointed and the staff were great. Good location near all the major sites and restaurants. The rooftop bar was a...

A lovely clean and modern hotel, staff more than helpful, views from the penthouse bar are stunning, breakfast is outstanding can't praise it enough. Nice and central to the main square and all shopping areas. Rooms kept nice and clean and towels changed regularly

Central hotel is in Athens' centre, just minutes away from Syntagma square (metro station), famous Ermou street (shopping area) and Plaka (restaurants). The room is kind of standard size - by European standards - clean, and with comfortable bed, coffee machine, safe-box and fridge (empty). The accompanying bathroom is not small but has a quite small shower. It is advisable...

Thank you for your review and recommendation on Central Athens Hotel. Building and permit restrictions provide limited solutions to the elevator size. It is nice to see that overall you had a good experience with us and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

We booked this hotel via Fantasy Travel and were so pleased with the excellent location. We stayed 2 nights, went to Santorini, then returned for 3 nights stay. Walking from here was super convenient to most anywhere in the center of town. The square, markets, restaurants, cafes and shops galore, are all a short walk. The hotel is very clean...

We stayed for 2 nights as a group and could not fault the hotel and staff. Fantastic roof top bar and a very good breakfast selection on offer.. Staff on reception were very helpful and knowledgeable with regards to great bars and places to eat around the the hotel.

We have just returned from an amazing 3 days in this beautiful city . The location of the hotel is perfect , only 5 to 10 mins walking distance to the main areas with the restaurants and sights. The staff in the breakfast room are really helpful and the food was good with ample choice. Breads, cereals , fruit, and...

My teenage son and I spent two nights here. The best thing is the location. Second best was it was clean. Other than that, I would not stay here again for four reasons. I paid for superior room to get the view, but to see the Acropolis, you had to stick your head out the window, so not worth it....

The group consisted of myself, my wife, our grown up son, and his friend. My wife and I had visited before and enjoyed our visit so when we decided to return to Athens there was no question about where we should stay. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the hotel lived up to expectations. Last time I reviewed on...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
