Quirky decor, but tasteful. Easy to train station and a short stroll away from Plaka. Many nice shops and restaurants in the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They also recommended some excellent restaurants in the area when we asked. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was big and comfortable too. My favourite part of the...

This was our first visit to Athens as we have always wanted to go and see the Acropolis/Parthenon etc. Positives Hotel was clean and tidy. Room was large, clean and pretty cool in terms of the decoration etc. Staff were on the polite and attentive (one was a little grumpy when we checked in but very much the exception). Location...

I loved this hotel. It is so funky and the service is superb. We were upgraded on arrival to a very cool suite with a giant pig in it. It was spacious, although could do with a little refurbishment. The hotel is very central and we could walk everywhere easily from there. The breakfast was great. Our departure flight was...

This hotel is Ideally positioned, being only a 20-25 minute walk to the Acropolis and nearby to lots of restaurants/bars shops etc. Check-in was easy and our luggage was taken to our room for us. The rooms are extremely spacious and spotlessly clean. The presence of a plate of fruit/pastries in the rooms on arrival was a nice surprise and...

We recently spent a long weekend at the Grecotel Pallas Athena. Ideally positioned for seeing 'the sights' of this wonderful city, this small but very well appointed hotel 'ticks all the boxes' When our taxi pulled up outside the Hotel a doorman appeared immediately and took our luggage from us Check-in was a painless exercise, and within minutes we were...

It is a good hotel. Nevertheless, I made a mistake and forgot my and my wife's swimming suits at the hotel room. When I returned (the day after checkout) my wife's brand new Marks & Spencer swimming suit had disappeared. To make matters worse when I asked for investigation, the reply I got was "you either never brought your swimming...

This was a very nice hotel, we got an upgrade which was very kind! In terms of where the hotel sits in town, it's not the greatest – not a very nice street to walk down. But, the hotel is excellent and we found the service to be a very good standard.

Visited for 3 nights for business. The hotel is nice the room was nice and large so was the bathroom. Bathroom needs a little renovation. Breakfast is good. All the staff were polite and helpful. The only fault I could find was the location near Omonoia. Even though not as bad as a few years ago you still not feel...

Wow, I did enjoyed this place so much. There are a lot of art objects, everything looked cool. I liked the room, even though it was the basic one. The cleaning was great every day. Breakfast was good, lots of selection. The hotel is located in Omonia district which is 15 minutes walk from Monastiraki and 20-25 minutes walk from...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
