My sister and I spent a week in this lovely, modern, quiet, first class boutique hotel on the edge of Plaka, the oldest area in Athens. With Hadrian's Arch 100m away, the Acropolic Museum, a 10 minute stroll away, and Stygmata Square, a mere 20 minute walk, you cannot beat this beautiful 'home away from home' for location. Public transport... More

We stayed at the Ava for 4 nights in early April - we were given a warm welcome by Mikhala ('scuze the spelling) at 6.30pm after a 36 hour trip from Australia, she organised a greek tapas platter for us, which was just what we needed with a good shower and a very comfortable bed. Andrea's (think I have the... More

I traveled with my husband and 2 teens, we booked a top floor executive suite. Our suite was spacious and clean. The staff are helpful and attentive. We purchased the breakfast package and were pleased with our meal. Restaurant staff was even more attentive. GREAT location and fairly easy to get to. We took the Metro from the airport with... We had a horrible experience at the Hera Hotel and moved to the AVA, which was so clean, accomodating and wonderful. The staff was so apologetic that on a day's notice they could only offer us a (beautiful) suite with no view of the Acropolis. The suit was fantastic, with a lit, domed ceiling in the small but clean bathroom,... More

I knew that Ava Hotel Athens was going to be good, regarding the reactions here on TripAdvisor. But that it was going to be perfect, without finding any mistake or hiccup, was something I never thought to experience in my life. Being a 5*-cruise ship hotel manager myself, I know how hard it is to run a perfect hotel. A... More

Fabulous location, wonderful helpful staff. If I was nitpicking, the breakfast wasn't wonderful but was certainly perfectly fine. I would definitely stay here again.

We had the most fantastic experience there. It is most central walkable to all sights in the old town . Bathroom was excellent plenty of room super shower. Huge T V I... But best of all was the staff--incredibly hospitable, knowledgeable, and efficient.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
