Excellent location, walking distance to most of the Athens history sites. Front desk staff was very very good and did really help us making our short visit to Athens more enjoyable. Rooms did meet our expectations. Breakfast was very nice and food choices were very well. Again thanks to the two gentlemen at the front desk for all your help.

We stayed from Sunday to Saturday. Staffs spoke good English. The room was nice and sufficient for our needs. The supreme room comes with jet shower and Jacuzzi bath. Our room faces an office block. I find the bed a bit too hard for me, but I'm quite fussy about bed and only like memory foam mattress. Lots of pillows....

This is a nice hotel. Nice rooms, nice restaurant it's just a shame about the area it's in....it's so run down around it! Personally I would not have ventured out of the hotel on my own. The bed was nice and comfy, the bathrooms have nice big jacuzzi baths. The staff were all nice, it's just a shame about the...

The hotel has a good location, close(walking distance) to the main attraction points of Athens. The rooms are very clean, with all the needed amenities, according to Melia standards. Friendly and helpful staff.

The Melia in Athens combines: Great location + friendly and professional service + comfortable rooms + reasonable prices. That's pretty much all I expect when I'm traveling for business. But, on second thought, I think these are my requirements when I'm traveling for pleasure as well. #HighlyRecommended

I'm staying at Melia Athens for the past 6 years (3-4 times per year), mostly for business trips, but this is the first time I get the chance to review this hotel. This review is long overdue as we stayed at the Melia Athens for 4 nights after a 7 night cruise from Venice to Greece in May. The Melia is a nice hotel that is within very easy walking distance to take the subway or train to wherever you wish to go. True, as every other reviewer has said, the location...

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
