Close proximity to most of the sight seeing places and you dont pay the premium price that you pay in Plaka - Hotel is 4 star and is very nice - Top floor has the swimming pool and at night becomes a restaurant with great views of the Acropolis. Lot of shopping around and hop on hop off bus also...

Nice hotel, close to to Plaka district, rooms were attended twice a day for cleaning and checking if needed something, beds were super comfortable and clean. Bathroom was spotless, all marble. Swimming pol at the roof top was somewhat smaller but big enough, view of Acropollis is breathtaking

I stayed at the Melia for two nights prior to visiting Mykonos. Check in was a breeze. The room was a nice size. It was just myself, but it was more than enough room for a couple. I had them to clear out my minibar because I didnt want any issues later on my credit card saying I took something...

Breakfast was excellent, a lot of choices from healthly food. The employees was very friendly and always ready to help you for anything you maybe need. Always has a taxi outside. A square from metro station.

We had a nice greeting from staff when arrived. Hotel is nice from outside and rooms are clean. Short 15 min walk to city center, its a straight walk there, but be careful at night. Totally safe and normal during day. I would stay here again.

Melia's location is unbeatable: a couple of blocks from both Syntagma square (with an airport shuttle terminal) and Archaeological Museum with its fabulous exhibitions. A fantastic view from the bar at its roof top with a pool is an icing on the cake.

Great spot, perfect service, nice and clean although the hotel is very 'urban'. Several nearby parks probably unknown to most tourists - worth the hike to see the views. I will be going back to this hotel.

Mixed feeling about this venue. The decor and general feel are good, very clean and well cared for. Wonderful breakfast, anti oxidant drinks, multiple pastries, cereal and hot breakfast options, juices, jams and Nutella which was lovely in the nutty yogurt! The little touches like chocolates on your pillow at night were nice. The bathrooms are a plus too, jets...

Very good hotel. Good service. Breakfast was too expensive so we went out to restaurants in the neighborhood. Very good service and the jacuzzi in the rooms was very very useful after walking all day.

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
