This was a very nice hotel in a great location. Close to everything you could want to see. The rooms were a good size, very clean. Amazing staff. Happy to help you with anything you need and we're keen to ask you how your day was. Would definitely recommend this hotel in you're ever in Athens

I hadn't been to Athens in 29 years and I don't know how I heard about the Plaka Hotel but I am so thankful that I returned to such a great city with my wife and had the opportunity to stay at this lovely hotel. I had advised the hotel that we would be arriving late from Santorini and much...

This hotel is in the heart of Plaka, and is the perfect central location for sightseeing in Athens. The rooms are bigger than usual for a hotel in a major city and the complimentary breakfast is the best we had in Greece. The rooftop bar is so lovely for enjoying a cocktail and a gorgeous view of the Acropolis all...

We only spent one night in Athens and couldn't of been happier. The garden rooftop bar looking out like you could touch the Acropolis was amazing. The staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They offered a late check out for free due to our late evening flight. At breakfast another staff member was there to assist in...

We didnt enjoy our stay at this hotel. We found it cramped - the elevator was very old and kept breaking down during our stay. The rooftop bar is very nice and relaxing and we received good service. There was a very helpful concierge but one of the male desk clerks was quite rude and completely unhelpful and for this...

We only had a night in Athens before catching a plane home but our overnight at the Plaka was pleasant, the view of the Parthenon from the roof bar was intense and we were able to walk to the Acropolis in the morning for a quick tour. The breakfast buffet was decent and the entire staff was helpful and friendly....

The hotel is located in the best place for a traveller. Walking distance to the Monastiraki train station which you can get down from after catching the metro from the airport. Awesome restaurants within 50 meters from the hotel door and we tried almost all of them and was very satisfied with the menus. The hotel is somewhat in the...

Stayed for 3 nights from 6 August 2014 and found hotel perfect as a base to see all the sights. Right in the middle of bustling old district and near flea market as well as ancient sites. Staff very helpful and rooms clean and pleasant. Lovely rooftop bar with great view of Acropolis - lighting up time is particularly magical.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
