I stayed at the hotel at June 2013, for a couple of nights. The room was at the entresol, very small with only a small window nearly to the floor!!!! Al thought it was clean enough just for a nap. The breakfast was so poor, that i thought at the beginning that i wasn't at the right place. The place...

We stayed at Chic for 3 days and found it to be ideal for getting around town. You are a 3-4 minute walk to Omonia Square and the subway, and a 10-15 minute walk to Monastiraki and the Plaka, and 15 minutes to the Acropolis. It can be tricky to find, but most hotels in Athens are tricky to find...

The Chic Hotel may not be the easiest place to find- but when you find it you will love it. The rooms are small but cozy. The space was very clean and had everything we needed. We also found the front desk staff to be friendly and very helpful. My husband and I went exploring everyday and they always pointed...

Having spent 2 separate nights at the Chic Hotel, in 2 different rooms, it's evident to see that this CLEARLY not a 4 star hotel. It's one of those classic situations in Europe where a hotel gets 4 stars for having a lift - rather than the quality of the rooms, breakfast etc! Don't get me wrong, on the whole...

OK, this is a decent hotel. Good looking. This is why I don't understand why they have such a horrible breakfast, maybe a 2 star. No warm food, lady not really cleaning tables, dirty dishes. We were disappointed. Street hotel is in is VERY loud. I think construction of the hotel should have been better. But being tired and after having...

This hotel is located on a large street near Ominia square. Between the hotel and Omonia square, there are several hotels so it is quite safe. However, farther away from the Omonia square, there are lots of graffiti that makes the street ugly and scary. The hotel is more or for business traveller, look tidy and clean, but lack of...

OK, so this area of Athens is not the most popular with tourists and thats fairly understandable as there is some evidence of drug use and illegal immigration in the locality. Before you panic and declare that this is not for me, read on. I have stayed at the Chic Hotel on 2 occasions and have never had problems with...

The hotel is a very good value. I stayed a few nights ahead of my study abroad program through university and was quite pleased. The hotel is within walking distance of the acropolis and many other nearby archaeological sights. There is a phenomenal shopping area and many nearby restaurants. The rooms were very clean and had air conditioning and a...

A clean and tidy hotel, well placed for getting around other areas of Athens via Metro system. Reception desk welcoming and staff friendly and helpful Decent breakfast included in price and good value overall. Location of hotel is central and therefore the roads around the hotel are noisy with traffic. There is a good deal of graffiti, some homeless people....

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
