As much as it pains me to say it...This is not the place for a female traveling alone. It is at the Center of Athens' inner city, and every Uber/Taxi driver that picked me up told me the same things: "Don't leave your hotel at night alone, ok?" "Be very careful in this area, even in the daytime." If it...

Stayed here for a three night break in April Location ok for accessing all the main tourist sites though lack of quality restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity. Worst point was the relentless traffic noise from Pireos Street at all times of day and night which rendered any attempt to sleep totally and utterly pointless!!! Room was clean but...

The hotels location is quite accessible. Metro station is just 10 mins walk. Overall a satisfactory hotel. Small rooms. Not much of facilities. ok ok breakfast. The major problem is during the nights. Its advisable to come back to the hotel early bcz the area is not quite safe.

Just along the road from Omonia Square, this is so convenient for walking round the city. Some reviewers have expressed concern about the neighbourhood but, frankly, although it looks run down and has a non-European feel to it...one would be quite hard pressed to find a central hotel that doesn't have run-down surroundings...this IS Athens! Yes, we saw recent immigrants...

We stayed here in October for a short city Break i picked it for its location to the nearest metro. From the moment we arrived we had issues with this hotel. I booked this hotel via BA and spent with airmiles i guess there was a reason this was the cheapest 4* they offered because from our experience it certainly...

So this hotel is rated 4 stars and surely it is not. It fits into the 3-3.5 star category. I gave it a rating of 4 for its convenience to most of the city. It is about 5 minutes walking to Omonoia square and maybe 25ish minutes walking or less to the base of the acropolis. I've read a lot...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
