We stayed two nights, one in a deluxe room, the other in a standard room. We were happy with the price of each, but the rooms were tired - in need of redecoration to restore the peeling wallpaper and outdated furnishings. Rooms were clean and the common areas were quite good. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location is just...

I stayed in this hotel in January, when weather was bad and nights relatively long. It may be an acceptable hotel in Summer time, but it wasn't a real pleasure to stay here in Winter time, as the hotel is really outdated and it's quite difficult to find something (good) to eat in the area around the hotel. I guess...

The hotel has seen better days. The rooms are reasonably sized, but the decor is dire and rooted in a once trendy Japaneses style from many years ago. Even worse, I find it extraordinary that there were so many shades of brown together in one room. There was wall paper depicting Japanese life in our room (I was in Northern...

This hotel is right across the street from the walled town so the location is great. Don't be put off by the exterior. The lobby is fine and the rooms are renovated and clean. It has air-con and the wifi works very well. Breakfast is pretty basic. The man at the lobby desk was very friendly and helpful. And you...

Stayed at this hotel years ago...loved everything about it...simple, but clean, and with nice personnel....the breakfast was delicious and with many choices. Would stay there again in an instant! The location was near everything that I needed including the great rail station...lovely hotel in a lovely city in a beautiful country!

We spent 6 nights here to tour northern Portugal and the neighbouring area of Spain. The room was clean and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the Fortaleza across the road. We were unsure whether to opt for a front facing room given the road, but it was a good choice. The hotel staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly, and...

I went to Valença on work and stayed one night. Hotel Lara was definetelly a good choice. The room was very spacious and clean. The reception staff were very polite and kind. The hotel has free wi-fi in the rooms. I used it a lot. Breakfast with very few choices. The soundproofing is not very good, so you hear noise...

The hotel is at the edge of the (unlovely) new town of Valenca, only a few steps from the beautiful old town. Our room was clean, well-appointed and had a balcony. Reception was pleasant and efficient. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We thought the Lara offered very good value. We had a really nice couple of days...

I've stayed here three times in the last couple of years and will happily return if I'm passing through again. Almost all of the rooms have balconies, most with a view of the fortress. Every room I've stayed in has been spacious with modern fixtures, and kept spotlessly clean. Satellite TV is good, with a wide selection of channels, including...

Not a hotel you'd go to for fun - it looks like it should host conventions of travelling salesmen. But staff are friendly and helpful, and everything is perfectly functional. Nice to have plumbing that actually works - in so many "boutique" places it looks great but is a pain to operate. It's on a busy road in the new...
