The Dukes Corner Guest House is located in an emblematic building from the beginning of the 20th century (1908) which was renovated maintaining its original architectural traces. Ideally situated in an old and noble residence, surrounded by trees and calm, it is just a 10 minutes' walk to the Oporto city centre and 5 minutes' to the nearest Metro Station. In the city centre it is possible to visit many touristic sites, such as "Torre dos Clérigos", "Palácio da Bolsa", "Sé Catedral", the Town Hall, S. Bento Station, the Churches of "Misericórdia", "Carmo" and "Carmelitas" as well as the Rectory of the University. Still within the perimeter of the city centre, the walking route through the "Rua das Flores" is a "must see" leading the visitors to one of the oldest parts of the city, with particular emphasis to the "Ribeira" area along the Douro River. In the Dukes Corner we are very proud to offer a warm welcome to indulge our guests' wishes and be certain that they will come back again. There are 7 bedrooms available (one of them is a Suite) individually furnished and distinctive in style and adapted to the modern demands of comfort. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with free WIFI access, Cable TV and Air Conditioning. Our guests can still benefit from our breakfast room, a lounge where they can rest, read or socialize and still relax in our heartwarming outside area while feasting with our diverse and delicious menu accompanied by an excellent wine. We look forward to seeing you.

Gorgeous little guest house about a 15/20 minute walk into the main area of Porto. Fatima was amazing, couldn’t do enough for you! I stayed in the single room which was perfect for 2 nights, I only really slept there as out taking in the sights all day. When I hopefully return I would stay longer and opt for a bigger room, but would definitely stay here again! As a solo female traveller I felt very safe walking to and from the guest house and everyone in Porto are so friendly!

Absolute gem. Close to the city center, big room (#1), good beds, great water pressure in the shower, friendly staff, save neightborhood for street parking. Lots of sweets to choose from for breakfast as well as local dried ham as well as good coffee and hot milk. Local coffee shop and bakery right around the corner. Luis is fast with replying to any e mail questions and helped us getting fc porto soccer tickets. Fatima runs a very tight show keeping our room in perfect shape and cooks a mean scrambled eggs on request. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Myself and a friend stayed at Dukes for 5 nights 14th -19th October and had a great stay,
We stayed in a twin room with balcony and garden view. Great location to the city.
We found the beds and linen so comfortable and great pressure to the shower, the room cleaned to a high standard daily, and the Breakfast room was really cosy with a great variety to choose from.
Finally the staff they went above and beyond to help in any way and were very friendly throughout our stay, Would stay again in a Heartbeat and would recommend to anyone visiting Porto
Thanks to all at Dukes

The facility is a house built at the beginning of the XX century converted into a Guest House. Whilst the rooms are small, the warmth and home feeling transmitted by the owner and his staff to guests make up for the room size. Excellent location. Minutes walking from the city center. Breakfast is excellent. I was actually quite impressed by the quality of the products. All fresh with eggs made to order and buffet. A special word of thanks and praise to Fernanda. She did not know what else to do to make us feel at home and comfortable. The gesture of leaving Port Wine and the typical Portuguese sweet of 'pastel de nata" in the room balcony for us to have on return from a night in town put a special touch to our stay. I would strongly recommend the guest house. It will not disappoint you.

I cannot be more pleased. Having travelled alone to Porto to visit some friends I needed a place to stay for three nights, with the bare minimum I ask in a hotel: hygiene, private bathroom, air conditioning and silence. I was overwhelmed with dukes corner. The location is excellent, beautiful neighbourhood ,
The staff is impeccable, they’re friendly and professional. They are always available. Mrs Iracema prepared me the fresh orange juice and the expresso at breakfast, when is meant to be a self service event. She also packed up a pastel de nata for me to eat in the train Back home. Such kindness.
The hotel is in a townhouse from the early XX century, superbly restored, beautiful woodwork and mural paintings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, ingeniously conceived, and very clean. You have all you need, a (very) comfortable bed, places to charge your stuff at hand, natural light in the day, and confortable illumination in the night. There’s silence even during the day.
If I can I’ll make it my residence in Porto.

Dukes Corner is a really lovely B&B and we were so happy to stay here! A warm welcome on day one, with really friendly and attentive people working there.
We had a clean and spacious room (we are a family of four, and stayed in two adjoining rooms which worked perfectly), and they serve a great breakfast too. The location worked really well for us - a short walk from the station or into the centre - and the area is both quiet but with lots of cafes in walking distance. We're vegetarian - not ideal for Portuguese cuisine, but the area has a lot of vegan/vegetarian places to eat. Would recommend to all and be very happy to stay again.

This guest house occupies a corner building near the road Rua do Duques Tercera, and is about 8 minutes walk to Santa Caterina main street, about 10 minutes to Sao Bento station, so is very much at a strategic location for visitors.
Due to our train from Lisbon was cancelled, we arrived late at the guest house, and was warmly welcomed by Fatima from reception who proceeded to show us the arrangement with house key etc.
Iracema looked after us with our breakfast needs in the morning, well adequate for our needs.
Since we had to leave early on our departure day Fatima made sure we had cut sandwiches the previous night, and organised taxi pickup to go to Porto Campania station in the morning.
Highly recommended guest house with friendly and helpful hosts.

We were fortunate to stay at Duke's Corner Guest House on a recent trip to Porto, Portugal. It is an old building (1908 or so) that has been kept in almost pristine condition. We were very impressed with everything. The room was spacious, bright, and well appointed. You felt like you were walking into that era. tall windows with even taller ceilings and beautiful woodwork. The staff was very helpful with anything we needed. We started a bicycle trip from there and had our bikes delivered to the hotel. They even helped us to unpack and assemble them. The breakfast was very good with fresh squeezed orange juice every day. There is a courtyard behind the building that can be used by guests. It is not located near the river, but it is in an area of restaurants and shops. We did walk to the river every day and it did not take much time. We would definitely stay there again.

The Duke’s Corner. What a marvellous guest house! The green tiled curved Art Deco outside is beautiful, but wait until you get inside … original features have been lovingly preserved – winding stairwell, decorative escutcheons and handles everywhere. All sparkling clean. Our huge curved room - ‘the music room’ was an unexpected delight. Three huge floor to ceiling window doors, delicate metis linen and lace curtains, high ceilings with historic mouldings, and a most comfortable and elegant bed. We had our own 20’s decorative iron balcony.
The staff were delightful – flexible, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and gorgeous – Portuguese pastries, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice … plus, plus. There is a tucked away little private courtyard – perfect for picnics and coffees.
The hotel is in a peaceful Art Deco area – just on the edge of the historic centre. Vintage shops and great restaurants on every corner. Good transport connections. We couldn’t have asked for more. Everything was perfect.

We were aware prior to our arrival that Reception would be closed so we rang the number provided as we left the airport and the owner had arranged for someone else to be there to greet us. However, the lady spoke very little English (and we speak no Portugese) so check-in was lengthy and difficult as she was using Google translate. It was not the best first impression and having read more reviews on our return home, we clearly missed out by not having the personal experience at check-in and missed some information eg cooked option at breakfast!
Our room (with garden access and balcony) had lovely high ceilings, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable but the facilities were very basic.
The air conditioning unit was not working on our arrival so the first night was unbearably hot (it was repaired the following day after reporting it to the owner) but there were no dials to change the temperature - it was set low but I would have preferred the room to be cooler.
There was no safe in the room which we expect as standard to be able to store our passports etc securely. There was no storage ie chest of drawers or wardrobe - there was a wire with coathangers at the back of the built-in bathroom. Any noise from the bathroom could be heard in the bedroom and the shower was tiny (although pressure was good). There was a luggage rack for the suitcase. The kettle was on a small desk which had no socket nearby so it had to be boiled on either of the bedside tables. There was no fridge so drinks were not chilled and no option to have milk in our tea.
Breakfast - the continental was varied and tasty but we were not aware that there was a cooked option. 8-10am did not work for us - too late for our day trip to the Douro Valley (first morning) so only ate breakfast on day 2. We were provided with a couple of pastries and carton of orange juice for day 3 as we had an early flight.
Overall we expect our holiday accommodation to be better than home and this room was not up to standard - it was underwhelming and disappointing.
