1. Great city centre location Walking distance to most of the major points including Vila Nova de Gaia, other side of Douro River. 2. Very modern spacious room and bathroom at renovated 18th century mansion. 3. Hard working friendly staff; not only at reception but also at buffet breakfast room. All the delicious wide selection of food were available all the time in a beautiful former ballroom facing a garden. 4. The restaurant and taps bar next door were fabulous with very friendly knowledgeable wine/port waiters. It was the best restaurant during our four day stay in Port.
Marvellous place to stay. Great location - character and atmosphere in abundance along with a great choice of places to eat and drink nearby. The people running the hotel are lovely, helpful, thoughtful nd welcoming especially Daniel who mapped out a walking city tour for us that included the sights and options for boats, cable car and other delights. We had a huge suite overlooking the street - open the windows to create a soft background of music from the street musicians below. Or relax on comfy sun loungers the roof garden. Breakfast was all you could want although our suite came fully equipped with a kitchen.
What can I say?? Wow!! We were on our annual city break and expected a usual twin bedded room with en suite . Walking into the unassuming doorway of the Hotel we were blown away, Each room of the main building had a kitchen area complete with kettle, toaster, microwave , cooker and fridge. there was a large sitting room with table chairs and sofa bed/s and then the bedroom with the ensuite. In the Hotel building was a Spa with a Roman Bath (large Jacuzzi), a beautiful breakfast room with a fabulous choice of food. Our evening meal was taken in the restaurant next door
Good hotel, clean and good sized rooms. Spa facilities are good, decent breakfast and wine bar next door is worth the experience. Easy to commute as hotel is right in the heart of porto. Nice garden on the 4th floor connecting to the other building.
Stayed here for one night in the studio apartment in building 3. Overall this is a beautiful set of buildings with original features alongside modern styles. The staff are polite and the room was clean and chic. Glass of Port wine given during check in was a nice touch. Studio: The studio has a Queen size bed, sofa and TV with bath, shower, toilet and bidet. There is a separate kitchen with a door, inside is all cooking essentials and a small table a chairs. Spa: the spa is included with the room stay. basic compared to other spas I have been too. The roman baths were cold, sauna was good. Steam room had no steam and was cold. Towels were provided. Massage are offered at a price, I peeped 80€ for one but they did offer 30% off for hotel guests. Breakfast: good selection of hot food, pastries, cold cuts, cheese and fruit. Hot and cold drinks also available. Pros: inside the room towels, robes, slippers, face towels and hand towels were all provided with the VF logo, they also provide bath essentials. Beautiful view from the patio. Cons: the TV inside the room could not connect to my Google chrome cast and therefore I was unable to watch Netflix via my phone. I figured out this was because they have blocked the WiFi for such devices. The radiators were a bit temperamental, but heated up the room after a while. There was no iron in the room and there was a very basic hair dryer. Building 3 was right at the back and we had to walk outside to get to breakfast and the spa, which was annoying as it was cold outside.…
