When selecting a hotel, my primary consideration is location-price-quality ratio. Given Vera Cruz's central location, solid quality and reasonable price [I paid <$50/night], I was very pleased with my experience. The location is accessible (2 minutes walk from Aliados metro stop), well-lit and secure. The property is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. Everyone at the... More

Get the expectation right, this is afterall a 'residential' and not exactly a hotel, there is no proper lobby. The room is rather basic but sufficient. I noticed the cleaning standard (washroom, towel, blanket, carpet) can be improved. Got a room with a view but absolutely no view and lack of natural light. Hence is quiet to get decent sleep.... Stayed for two nights and were very impressed with the central location. Rooms are small but clean and staff is very friendly. Highlight was definitely the yummy breakfast on the roof terrace. If you get a good deal, it's definitely a hotel to recommend.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in April 2010. After landing in Porto we took the metro directly to Trinidad station, the hotel was a few minutes walk from there. The metro took about 20 minutes and cost only €1.50. Returning we took a taxi from just over the street (no need to order, not even at 4am),... More

This hotel has the best possible location - everything is close - if you are coming from the airport or the main train station, you have to catch metro to Trinidade station - it's 3 minutes walk from the hotel. To the most of the sigths you can go by walk and there is no need to spend the money on... I went with my boyfriend to this small hotel in Porto for a weekend. We enjoyed the city a lot and we chose this place because has a special offer (57 euro) for San Valentine's weekend and is perfectly situated. For that cost we had a superior room with a balcony viewing to the PlaÇa dos Aliados, in the city... More

Stayed here for three nights on the recommendation of a work colleague (room 401). I can more or less agree with other reviewers in that the hotel is fantastic given the low prices - we payed 50 EUR per night for a twin room. The main advantages are the location, the attentiveness of the staff and the tasty breakfast with... More

the vera cruz is a lovely building in a great location and we thought that a room on the top floor would be quiet and away from it all we had room 704 which was great huge bed, seperate sitting room and reasonable bathroom even a small balcony although no views .However the noise from room next door sounded as... We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It was in a good area for sightseeing, with good access to the metro. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but very small. Our room had a balcony but unfortunately the heavy curtains over the window were hung in such a way that they couldn't be opened and therefore the room was very... More

We stayed only 2 nights, but we were happy to be settled at that hotel! Early morning we reached the hotel and reception explained us that check in starts after 1.00p.m. nevertheless we left our suitcases downfloor(kindly) and spent out free time outside. Location - really best ever.2 min from hotel to metro station,15 min to the famous Douro river. Breakfast... More
