This was a great getaway close enough to walk but far away enough from the main centre to not hear too much. Pedro the guest manager was very helpful and looked after the two of us more than expected. We were sat down at our check in and he explained the city to us and drew out where to go... More

Walkable location from train station. Close to attractions and restaurants. Large and comfortable room. Breakfast was simple but fresh; great breads, jams, pastries and even peanut butter! Host Pedro was THE BEST! Can't wait to visit all of the other areas of Portugal he recommended. No doubt will stay here again on our next trip to fabulous Porto! PS. GREAT... More

We stayed 6 days exploring Porto and Cale was the perfect starting point. Near the river, the train station, the bus station to the beach and in the center of the old town. It is small with 7 rooms and very well designed, historic house with modern rooms. The staff is very helpful and happy to assist you with tips... More

Friendly staff speaks English, welcomes you with a glass of port and a customizes a map of the city for your particular interests. Rooms are bright, airy,... More

And we had a great time. I think there were more people on the river front than before and because the weather was so good we enjoyed the river race the following day too. The Cale was as good as before, everything you could want from a short stay in Porto. Can't fault it.

It's a very nice hotel in the centre of Porto! Near metro station Sao Bento, near the river Douro and near every highlite in Porto. The personal is very nice and you've got a fresh breakfast every day made by the personal. The rooms are very clean and everyone is very helpfull! I really recommend this for everybody!

On arrival, we were welcomed by Pedro. He offered some drinks and on a map of the area highlighted all the areas of interest, the information was clear, precise and reassuring for first time visitors to the area . I must also say that the welcome glass of local Port was superb!. We were then taken to our room. What... More

We are a mature couple in our 70's and were originally concerned about some aspects of Cale but we need not have worried. Cale is an easy 10 minute walk with luggage from Sao Bento station with few cobblestones involved which is most unusual for Portugal. The very kind staff carried our luggage to and from our room which was... More

We loved everything about Porto including the Cale Guest House. It's central location and helpful staff made for the most enjoyable stay. Great rooms with excellent views. Portuguese tarts for breakfast. Could not ask for anything more

This is great place to stay in Porto - mid-way between the station and the waterfront. We were greeted on arrival by the very helpful and friendly Pedro who was took time time to tell us about all the things to see and do in the city. Our room was very spacious and airy with a view over the town.... More
