We had a great time at the Castelo and Joao, the owner, was a really kind and helpful host with suggestions for things to do and the best ways to get around town. The hotel is a bit outside the center, an easy walk down, an energetic hike up, but the metro stop is not far away and cabs are...

The place is an old villa/city palace and the surroundings seem to be a bit shady. Interiors are antique unless you book a room in the annex. Limited parking. Subway in walking distance. No elevator/aircon in the main building due to conservation issues. If you stay there, book a room in the old building anyway, it´s really charming.

The hotel is very special, used to be castle, it is in quite area, clean, and very rustic. The staff is very friendly, and their breakfast was unique, in a special castle room. The breakfast was good but standard for European breakfast. The room is just about fine, small but cosy. I liked the hotel, but it is a one...

This is a great hotel - close to the Metro, beautiful views from the room (we stayed in room 141 in the tower), an adorable cat who hangs around the property, beautiful decor, decent breakfast and friendly staff. I subtracted one star because the bed in our room was uncomfortably small and the room had no safe. Overall, though, this...

An historic and very ornate hotel. The furnishings are antique throughout the hotel. Convenient to the metro or walking to town - would probably want to take the metro back as it is all up hill. Parking available.

We enjoyed the people, who were wonderful, and the view from our room was excellent. The castle is loaded with period furniture, and the tile work outside is spectacular. We also greatly appreciated having parking for our car. In addition, the breakfast was perfectly adequate, although we are not fans of vending machine-style coffee. On the downside, we were on...

We had a wonderful few days in Porto all made the easier by the helpfulness of the staff at the hotel giving advice over transport, places to go etc. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed in the beautiful older part of the hotel, very comfy bed, excellent bed linen. Breakfast was very good. Location very central but...

What a surprise, lovely castle with a great ambiance. Breakfast is good and the receptionist very helpful. Rooms are in great style. Enjoying this stay. Not too far from city center, walk distance. In night times it is also quiet

We had our room in the tower and loved the historic ambiente and the city view. It's a truly historic place with fabric tapestry, wooden ceiling, crystal and 19th century furniture, lovely! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast good, in a wonderful setting. Easy walking distance to the center, for the uphill way back we took a taxi. Can...

This hotel is truly unique. It is built around an old house/castelo and an open courtyard with pretty gardens, a small chapel and tiles. It feels very Portuguese! There are two layers of modern rooms around the courtyard; we stayed in these rooms...which were quieter and cleaner/less musty than what you generally find in older constructions. There are "period" rooms...
