#5 of 824 Speciality lodging in Porto
The Gallery Hostel is set in a privileged area of Oporto, known for its art galleries and modern shops, at a walking distance from the main points of interest in the city centre such as museums, monuments, gardens, restaurants and bars. Located in Rua Miguel Bombarda, the Hostel is established in an historical building with more than 100 years old, which just went through a renewal in order to respond to our guest’s needs and expectations. With high standards of comfort and carefully decorated, you will find a familiar and cosy atmosphere, complemented by a multilingual and professional team. Composed by several types of rooms, the Gallery Hostel is divided in two sections. You can choose between staying in the main building in a 6 or 4 people bedroom, or in one of our Garden Suites, always offering a privileged privacy. In the main building, each room is named after the most renowned artists of Oporto such as Sophia Mello Breyner, Almeida Garrett, Julio Resende, Silva Porto, Siza Vieira and Souto Moura. Also creating an original feeling of the city and enhancing local culture, the Garden Suites are named after the main Oporto city parks (Cordoaria, Botânico, Serralves and Palácio de Cristal). Our services and common areas have also been developed in order to satisfy any need the guest might have. You can choose listening to music and drink Portuguese wine in our Lounge Bar, watch a DVD in our Movie Theatre or play a game, surf on internet or read a book in our Library, have a chat or chill out in our interior gardens, enjoy a meal in our open kitchen and breakfast area, between others. I stayed at the guest house over the street. It is more like a hotel. I honestly don’t know why it’s not full all the time… but happy to keep it as my secret. The bar at the hostel is great and is also the perfect sport for a evening wine. One of the best hostels I have every stayed in.

This place is so beautiful, furniture has been picked tastefully, staff is very helpful. My best friends took me there for my bachelorette party as a surprise. We were 7 girls in the same room. They had arranged a room where we had drinks, local cold cuts, cheese, we were able to have this room for ourselves to watch videos, dance etc breakfast was good as well. Highly recommend this place to stay when in Porto.

The Gallery Hostel was one the best hostels I’d ever been, we had booked a private room, each room was painted by an artist and called by their name. There were a cosy garden and a kitchen which you could chill in. We really enjoyed our stay in Gallery hostel.

I dont stay in many hostels but this property was just great! We stayed in one of the suites which is accross the road from the main building however we were able to use all the facilites - breakfast was amazing (better than most 3-4 star hotels) not a huge amount of options but everything offered was fresh and cooked to perfection. They offered us a welcome drink at the bar and it was just an all round great experience. the suite rooms are huge! I would have preffered a location closer to ribera personally but besides that cannot fault this hostel :)

Dear Bec, We sincerely appreciate the kind review and we are truly happy to see that you enjoyed your stay in Gallery Hostel. It's a great pleasure that you felt so well accommodated and our rooms were up to your expectations and needs. Comfort is one of our main concerns and we're glad you found it in our cosy suites. We are, also, thankful for your compliments on our home-made breakfast. It is prepared, daily, with the freshest products and with all the care and love, to our dear guests. As so, your words are truly rewarding. Though we are 15 minutes walking distance from Ribeira (the river side), we are in the city center in the special art neighborhood of Porto, known by its calm and tranquility. We're sorry if it was an inconvenience in any way and hope it didn't bother your stay. Hope to welcome you again, in a near future. Kind Regards, Gallery Hostel team.
