A star for the central location and a star for the friendly staff - but that's all. Our Superior room was a decent size, but bland, characterless and uninspiring. The furniture looked like it was designed for a student dorm. A long way from the "feels like home" tagline that the company shouts about. A couple of rugs on the cold, hard, wooden floor would be a good start: the pictures of the Superior rooms on the website include two of the room we were in - with a nice big rug - but in reality they were conspicuous by their absence. Interestingly, those same images on the website show coloured throws over the bed, adding to the appeal - but again no such thing in real life. You are encouraged to keep towels from one day to the next "to help save the planet" (and of course, help save the laundry cost). But with no heated towel rail or even somewhere to spread out the towels to dry after a shower, all you are left with is a damp towel to use the next day. Quite unpleasant, so inevitably you want them changed daily. And there is not even a hook in the bathroom on which to hang your bathrobe. Our room was advertised as having "Ribeira view " ie, of the old town. In actuality, we looked out at the back of a derelict building a few metres across from us and towering two storeys higher - not much of an "old town view". The buffet breakfast was a good spread, albeit a tad on the expensive side at 18Eu. The hotel website makes a great play of the bar. In real life, you can order drinks at the reception desk from a very limited selection (don't even think about a vodka & tonic), and then sit in the hotel lobby to enjoy them. That is not my idea of a "bar". In summary, the hotel was a disappointment.…
The hotel has good staff and amazing service. The room is really clean. Also the location is perfect, close to the principals spots, such as 5min by walk from the Ribeira and close to a lot of good restaurants.
Excellently located, welcoming and comfortable hotel. The staff was expert in orienting me to get the most of my stay in Porto, with a superb breakfast to start the day. A very comfortable environment, with people seemingly genuinely happy to welcome guests. The room was up-to-date and comfortable.
The location of this hotel is excellent, close to the river, with plenty of dining options nearby. Be aware that in October 2022 the street in front of the hotel was torn up with construction. Vehicles can get by but the area is very congested. I took an Uber from the train station. It was quite a long ride but inexpensive. When I booked my ride back to the train station I met my Uber at the Palacio da Bolsa one block away, where the traffic was a little calmer. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. I had breakfast and one lunch at the hotel and the food was fine.
The hotel is good location, the service is very friendly, the best is the checkin feel a warm welcoming. I had a good time staying there. I would like recommend the hotel to my friends and my family. Hua Donovan
Thanks for the extra effort, the breakfast is great, 🎃spooking cakes, coffin sandwiches .. super staff 😊 Lovely hotel, helpful staff, very accommodating. Great location 2min walk to the river. Bars and restaurants all around 😊
My partner and I stayed in the 502 penthouse room, which we specifically recommended based on a traveler recommendation on TripAdvisor. It had a beautiful view and lovely terrace, but the first thing we noticed when we entered the room was a bad odor that smelled a bit like sewage. Throughout our stay, housekeeping tried to mask the smell using fresheners/deodorizers to varying levels of success. They also sent maintenance to the room, but they apparently weren't able to get to the bottom of why there was a smell, which was frustrating. One of the front desk staff who came up to our room at one point theorized that it could be moisture built up in the A/C unit, but nobody ever fixed it during our stay. This really soured our experience. Other than the odor issue, the room itself was nice (although there were some odd design decisions like partially frosted glass for the toilet), and we had complimentary port wine and pasteis de nata as part of check-in. We were also provided with a smartphone that allowed us to make local phone calls and use apps without worrying about going through our own data/batteries, which was nice. The staff were mostly friendly, but they were unable to really address the root of the problem with our room. At check-out, we asked if there was anything that could be done for us given our troubles, and the person working at the time (different from the folks we had previously interacted with) was completely unsympathetic and said that the odor is because the hotel is near the river. Overall, I think there are probably better options in Porto, and I wouldn't stay here again.…
I am reading the other reviews and see that most really enjoyed their stay. I do think the staff was dong there very best, but the rooms smelled terrible, the overall decor is student dorm-chic (I guess). No real comfy lobby or spaces to hang in and breakfast was uninspired. If you book this hotel make sure to ask for a room that doesn't smell!! Is a great location, but overall the hotel needs a makeover and the bad smells need to get resolved.I was with family and we had three rooms, all smelled terrible. who wants that!
We stayed in this hotel in September and the location was perfect as we were within walking distance to the River Douro and all the bars and restaurants! When we checked in we were given a complimetary glass of port and pastel de natas. We had a double standard room at the rear of the hotel so there wasn't much sunlight but it was nice and quiet. Claudia at reception was very accomodating and recommended all the best places to go to in Porto. As our flight back to London was at 6am she and Bruno arranged a taxi for my husband and I along with a takeaway breakfast bag which included sandwiches, a yoghurt drink, bottle of water and a piece of fruit which was very considerate and perfect to have before our flight. As I was celebrating my 40th Birthday they also arranged for me to have a delicious chocolate cake in our room which was really lovely. We will definitely stay at this hotel again the next time we visit Porto!…
The best check in experience we have ever had. On check in Marcela was very warm, welcoming and friendly and took the time to go through local sights and restaurants. We were also given complimentary port and a Nata on arrival . The hotel was spotless , room was spacious and well equipped . Perfect location to see everything in Porto, all sights within easy walking distance . Highly recommended the breakfast , great variety and excellent value for money. WiFi was great , there is a taxi rank outside so convenient to get to the airport . Highly recommended the hotel and will definitely be returning
