This is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed at. The rooms seem ok ( we’ve only been here 4 hours) but the food and service are unbelievably poor. We waited almost an hour and a half (in a virtually empty restaurant) for cold meats, a tin of sardines and a pizza. We asked repeatedly if there was a problem in the kitchen, the staff were apologetic but couldn’t explain the delay. The pizza when it arrived was the wrong pizza and not properly cooked ( raw dough in the middle) we returned it and after maybe 20 mins got the correct pizza, still uncooked.I don’t blame the waiting staff who were doing their best but no explanation was offered. We were going to book dinner here but now won’t take the risk. And we have the dubious pleasure of 3 nights to go before we escape. Early cancellation and refund is apparently impossible. Fellow travellers, feel our pain!

I've been there with my husband and children, early june19, and was a relaxing and luxurious stay. We stayed for 3 nights and we could stay more. The restaurant and bar were very nice. Staff were very friendly and polite. Certainly, i'll come for another stay. Lamego is wonderfull.

Although this hotel looks like an old hospital on the outside, it’s beautiful and amazingly decorated inside. The rooms are big and confortable but you can listen to anything that is going on on the other rooms, such as the tv, conversations, coughing, etc. Spa is nice but when you walk from the pool until the sauna it’s cold and the locker and bathrooms are old and don’t look like they belong to a 4 star hotel. The restaurant is beautiful and food is really good although pricy. We had a misscomunication problem where we asked for the wine list and the waiter recommended us one without mentioning the price, imagine our surprise when we paid 20€ for 2 glasses of wine. We spoke to the reception lady and she was very understanding but there was nothing to do because that was the price of the glass of wine. That’s the only thing I really disliked because I believe it’s too expensive and the wine was not that good (for me). On the other hand breakfast is amazing and all the personal too. Sure recommend it and plan to go back

We stayed only for one night on the way to Douro, and location is really great for this. Welcoming staff offered us wine as we arrived and check in was very pleasant. Hotel is a bit secluded with beautiful views of surrounding area and has relaxing atmosphere. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both were great. The reason I gave four stars is that we had to wait for dinner long time. We were offered complimentary port wine for the wait. In the morning we visited Azulejo decorated stairway to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedios, only a short drive from the hotel.
