Hotel Fundador is located in a very convenient place in town, has free parking, very nice and friendly staff, good breakfast. Rooms are clean and pleasant with a very nice view to the city. The breakfast room has the best view in town
The hotel was very nice especially for the price - it has a garage for parking (which is good because it appears that parking is not good in this area), there was a bar on one level and we ended up with a massive room which was clean. On the map this looks close to town, but was a good walk and its a hill coming back up. Breakfast was more than enough and despite the distance, we walked to and from the city centre both days. Staff was friendly and helpful and they stored our luggage on the 2nd day after checkout so that we could explore the town more.
With 10 min walking distance from city center this nice hotel gives All you need. Though the building is old, seems like it was recently refurnished. Rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast is good, and though official opening time is from 7:30, per our request they opened at 7:00 especially for us, also there is great view of the city
This certainly isn't a luxury hotel, but it's decent and good value. Rooms are large enough, very clean, and have a good work desk area. Bathrooms are in bright pastel colours. Views over the city are good if you are on a higher floor. My room had no easy chair, which I missed, but otherwise it was well-furnished. The old part of the city is not too far a walk from the hotel. It was quiet on my side of the hotel (north side), but one reviewer mentioned noise from traffic. It's true that the windows don't block out much of the outside noise (I clearly heard every word from a group of partyers that walked by the hotel at around 10 PM), so it noise is a concern try to get a room that faces north or east, away from the busy street that goes by the railway station. We found out through experience that, at least as far as we could tell, there are no convenience stores in the vicinity that are open in the evenings. The underground parking was a nice plus, but the actual layout of the parking spaces was one of the most bizarre I have ever seen. Depending on how many spaces are filled, you may end up with a parking space that will require someone to give directions while you park. The breakfast room on the 11th floor was also a nice plus. Breakfast consisted of the usual assortment of meats, danishes, yogurt, fruit (no oranges, however) and something I have never seen before - bright pink beetroot buns.…
Close to the center of Guimarães. Great room, very clean. A nice breakfeast, in the top floor with a great view of the city. Very nice and helpfull staff. The only problem is the parking space: very small if you have a family car.
