A small boutique type hotel with pleasant staff. A spacious staircase leads to different floors decorated with modern paintings and art. Good quality breakfast but limited. Comfortable room the bathroom was small but adequate although the shower needs sorting as water goes over the floor. However if in the area I would stay again

Lovely boutique style hotel. Good central location. Managed to park nearby for free. Great room with lovely en suite bathroom with bath and shower. Very comfortable bed, had a great night's sleep. Paid €5 for breakfast the next day as hadn't booked it. Worth it, buffet style with enough choice to have a nice meal. Would definitely recommend this hotel,...

This is a small hotel that would suit most travelers quite well. We stayed for three nights, which was great because it allowed us to get a real sense of the city. Staff at the hotel were most accommodating.

During our many road trips through Portugal we had spent some time in Guimaraes in the past, but we never stayed overnight. This time we did and booked Hotel Mestre d'Avis after some internet searches for options and alternatives. It is located on a calm street walking distance to the historic city centre. We were very happy with our choice:...

A small hotel near the historical Guimarães center. The hotel was clean and affordable. It seemed to have only two parking places (located on the street just outside the hotel), so you may want to reserve the place beforehand. There's no lift and the stairway had artwork, so you have to be a little careful when dragging your 55 kg...

A very nice small boutique style hotel just outside the historic old town district of Guimaraes. All rooms are individually decorated and really quite quirky with all of the usual facilities one would expect. There is a small bar downstairs and a breakfast room. We had booked room only but in the end paid the 5 Euros pp extra for...

Stayed for two nights in a top floor room with a balcony offering a view of the city. Location is very convenient-- 5-minute walk to Praca San Tiago and about 15-minute walk to the train station. Continental breakfast offered a variety of fresh options. Receptionist on check-in gave recommendations on good restaurants around the area. Another receptionist on check-out could...

I stayed 7 nights in a single room to visit family in Guimaraes. The room was compact but perfectly comfortable, and great value. Staff are really friendly and helpful and as others have noted, the hotel has a very convenient location. Only one negative, voices from adjacent rooms can easily be heard.

I stayed in Mestre de Avis for two nights on one of the most crowded times, New Year's Eve. The hotel has a cosy and charming decoration and the rooms are very clean and spacious. The one I stayed in even had a lounge that made you feel "at home". The staff is incredibly friendly and super available. Definitely would...
