We are a Family of 4 from Malaysia, in Portugal 🇵🇹, for a holiday. Found this Cathedral Guesthouse on the internet. After staying a couple of days before Christmas 2017, we found it to be simply marvellous and fantastic!!! Most of all, we appreciate the warm hospitality and the pure sincere effort and heart out into everything by Christina. Truly appreciate the Christmas blessings, Christina 🤓👍
The location is excellent, and the guest house couldn't be better. Nice taste and maintenance about the place, super friendly hosts, amazing breakfast. Definitely the place i will stay when coming back to Braga.
Geoff and I stayed at the Cathedral Guesthouse for 4 nights. We had the front studio apartment. I can tell you, if you object to the late night Portuguese lifestyle, you should request a room at the back of the building. We, on the other hand, loved hearing the laughter and church bells, feeling part of the Braga lifestyle, and loved our large and comfortable space. This is an absolutely lovely guesthouse with staff who are the same. We can't thank Cristina and Jamie enough for making us feel welcome, providing assistance at every turn, and making our stay delightful. Things you should not miss are the Braga Free Walking Tour (incredibly informative), a trip to Bom Jesus, and dinners at Diana Restaurant and Cozinha da Se. Please remember, this is a guesthouse and not a hotel, (making the rest of this review somewhat difficult since all the questions are related to 'hotels'). Thank you so much, Geoff & Nancy…
The Cathedral Guesthouse in Braga is a treasure, absolutely spotless, in the heart on the city and the most amazingly helpful hostess Cristina, she was brilliant. Fresh wholesome breakfast, tea when you need it. Loved every moment I stayed there, even tho it was in the centre of the tourist area it was so quiet at night.
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel in the historical center of Braga, you will not find one. My wife and I were traveling by train so staying a few kilometers outside of town was not very convenient as it would require very long walks or taxi rides. So, I searched for an alternative and found the Cathedral Guesthouse. The guest house is literally a guest house, not a hotel. Our room was spacious, very clean and came with kitchen facilities if you wanted them. There were two comfortable twin beds so this might not be a honeymooner's dream. The house was within 50 yards of so from the Cathedral or Se and it was an easy walk to the town's epicenter. We had something a bit more than a Continental breakfast. Bread, rolls, croissants, butter, different jams, sliced turkey cold cut and cheese. We also had coffee and juice if so desired. We were quite satisfied with this and didn't ask for anything more. The towels were changed daily with a flower decoration...nice touch. We arrived in town a bit earlier than our reservation so we phoned ahead and the owner, Caterina, came back from lunch early to accommodate us. I would not recommend this if you have a problem climbing stairs as we were three flights up and there is no elevator. We had a little balcony where we sipped a second cup of morning coffee. It was perfect for what it costs and for what it was and that's why I am giving it 5 stars.…
"The room on the first floor has the least street noise...well, not street so much as church bells. This adds to the charm, these bells."Read full review
