We have been in Braga for the last few nights coming to see the famous Glasgow Rangers play Braga in the Europa league, and we have had a great time. We chose the hotel in booking.com for it’s proximity to the town centre and have been very impressed; the staff have been lovely - very attentive, very helpful and happy and smiley - just what’s needed. Special mention to the oh so smiley breakfast waitress and the lovely evening receptionist... lovely girls! Good spread at breakfast, plenty of choice and a real treat sitting out in the garden in the warm sunshine this morning. The rooms are comfy, the hotel feels cosy and well presented - we have felt totally at home. One more night and then back to reality... thank you for a lovely stay! X
I stayed here for 3 nights 24 to 27 February 2020 when visiting Braga for the Europa League match v Rangers. I paid just over €62 per night through booking.com. The hotel is very well located just off the main square, the Praca de Republica, on the edge of the old town. It has been open about 15 years in a former abbey and retains some original features. My room(203) was adequate but a little shabby looking with the basic wooden furniture bearing the end of its useful life and some paintwork needing refreshed. If you like a firm bed and pillows like me, you will not be disappointed. The bathroom was a good size and as expected in Portugal the towels were large and good quality but some were softer than others. Breakfast was disappointing. On the first morning the hot beans, bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs were cold and on the second morning it was obvious that the congealed mess purporting tube scrambled eggs were actually made from egg powder. However, the kitchen made fresh eggs to order. There was no brown bread (pan integral) for toast. The evening front desk staff were friendly and helpful but I found the morning staff offhand and surly. Strangely given that it is less than 200 yards from the tourist office, the hotel only had photocopied maps. Overall this is a 3 star hotel which in my opinion is a little bit expensive given that the rooms need updated and the poor quality breakfast needs improvement. …
I cant believe its taken so long to visit Braga, as this city becomes more and more popular. I absolutely adored this hotel, it may be my favourite holiday from all my 2019 travel overall. The hotel is located right in the middle of the centre, and its easy to get to the old Gothic cathedral, which should not be missed. The staff here are so friendly and helpful, thank you again for that, very professional. The breakfast was really superb, they can make you eggs if you request them. Nice hotel, amazing trip and bravo to Braga!!!
The Bracara Augusta is located just a few blocks from the center of historic Braga and in easy walking distance of the train station, the intercity bus station and the bus stop for Bom Jesus. Breakfast has multiple breads, fruits cold meats and cheeses and some hot items. Rooms are comfortable with plush towels. Staff is friendly and helpful . The adjoining restaurant , The Centurium, is wonderful and offers a 10% discount to hotel guests.
Location is good. The room and bathroom were ok. Cleanliness is satisfactory. Breakfast was not very rich but still not bad. Carla at the reception was very helpful and very pleasant The hotel is a little outdated
"Ask for the larger room, or suite. The single room would be cramped. For 89 Euros, we had their largest suite."Read full review
